Institutions Are Stocking Up on Bitcoin, Ethereum as Retail Interest Cools, says Wintermute.
The crypto market is maturing as more institutions adopt positions in digital assets. Traditional institutions and retail investors are diverging for the first time since the last bull market. Institutions are focused on Bitcoin and Ethereum, while retail has shifted to altcoins.
Fidelity subsidiary becomes largest shareholder of bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet. Clients of National Financial Services, a broker-dealer for Fidelity Investments, now own 12.9% of Metaplanet after acquiring 84.4 million shares worth about $820 million, making it the Tokyo firm’s largest shareholder. The stake may strengthen Metaplanet’s push to mirror Strategy, as it pursues a goal of holding 1% of bitcoin’s supply.
