⚡️Not preceding the Imaam in prayer

One should neither precede nor do the actions simultaneously with the Imaam.

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Isn't he who raises his head before the Imaam afraid that Allaah may transform his head into that of a donkey or his figure (face) into that of a donkey?” 📚[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (691)]

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Does not the one who raises his head before the Imaam fear that Allaah may turn his head into the head of a donkey?” 📚[Saheeh Muslim (859)]

🎓Shaikh Abdullaah al-Basaam رحمه الله said:

The Imaam is appointed so that he is followed in the Salaah and that it is completed while following him; so that the follower goes from one position to another (from standing to bowing and the like) after the Imaam has changed his position. This way, the proper following is achieved.

If the one who is following precedes (the Imaam in prayer), then the purpose of Imaamah (having a leader in prayer) is lost. That is why such a strict threat has come for the one who raises his head before his Imaam that his head or his face will be transformed into that of a donkey. His head would be transformed from the best features to that of the ugliest one; a retribution for this part of the body that transgressed in the prayer.

The scholars are unanimous that it is forbidden for the followers to race with the Imaam in prayer because of this strict warning, but they have differed if the prayer is invalidated or not. The majority view that it becomes void.

Imaam Ahmad رحمه الله said: “There is no prayer for the one who precedes the Imaam in the Salaah.”

His companions said: “Whoever precedes the Imaam in the pillars of prayer like bowing or prostration, then upon him is to return back (to his previous position) so that he follows the Imaam to it. But if he intentionally does not do that and the Imaam catches him up in that position, then his prayer becomes void.”

The correct view is that of Imaam Ahmad that whoever intentionally precedes the Imaam, then his prayer is invalid, and this is what Shaikh al-Islaam, Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله, also followed. This is because the threat entails prohibition; and the prohibition entails voidness.

Benefits from this Hadeeth:

1. Prohibition of raising the head before the Imaam in Sujood and the threat in it is evidence for its prohibition. There is no threat given except in the prohibited matters. The threat here is with transformation (of the head), and it is among the severest of punishments.

2. (This prohibition is not limited to prostration only), it also implies competing with the Imaam in every (other) action as well. This is not based on some analogy alone; rather it is based on what al-Bazzaar has reported from the Hadeeth of Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that: “The one who lowers or raises (his head) before the Imaam, his forelock is in the hand of Shaitaan.” [Musnad al-Bazzaar (9404) and graded as “Dha
eef” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in Dhaeef al-Jaami (1527) and Dhaeef al-Targheeb (276)]

[Note: There is another authentic Hadeeth with Shaikh al-Bassaam رحمه الله discusses in the next chapter:

Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه reported Allaah's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم saying: “The Imaam is appointed to be followed, so do not differ from him. So say the Takbeer when he says it, and bow down when he bows down and when he says: ‘Sami
Allaahu liman hamidah’, say: ‘Rabbanaa wa laka l-hamd’. And when he prays standing, you should pray standing. And when he prays sitting, all of you should pray sitting.”[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree and Saheeh Muslim]]

3. The obligation of following the Imaam in the Salaah by the followers.

4. The rewards (or retribution) depend on the kind of deed. So, a person is threatened with the transformation (of the head) because of his raising the head.

In the Hadeeth about the virtues of reciting the Qur’aan, when the Prophet ﷺ said: ❝Which of you would like to go out every morning to Buṭḥaan or al-Aqeeq and bring two large she-camels?❞, 1️⃣ he ﷺ also emphasized two things. The first thing he ﷺ mentioned was in general, and it is related to the actions before gaining wealth, while the other is more specific, and it is related to the actions after gaining wealth. He ﷺ said: ❝without being guilty of sin or severing the ties of kinship!❞

❝Without being guilty of sin❞, i.e., without the fear of stealing or unlawful possession. The Prophet ﷺ did not specify any particular sin; instead, he mentioned sin in general. Allaah knows best, but this may refer to the sins associated with obtaining wealth, either by stealing, deception, cheating, or any other way of unlawful possession. It also includes buying things that one knows are stolen.

Another sin people commit is taking loans and mortgages to buy cars, homes, furniture, etc., and paying interest. In addition to that, they also look for ways and Fatawaas to allow that which Allaah has forbidden.

In short, this includes any sin or act of disobedience (to Allaah) that a person commits to gain wealth.

❝Or severing ties of kinship❞, i.e., abandoning kindness and goodness towards family and relatives, cutting off contact with them, ignoring them, etc. This behavior is mainly seen in people after they have gained wealth and become rich and famous. Their wealth and pride deceive them, and they look down upon their poor relatives and ignore them.

It is also seen that when a rich person passes away, his children fight among themselves for wealth, cut off communications with each other, drag each other to court, and have lengthy court cases. Sometimes, one of the siblings inherits more through deceit and prevents the others from getting what is rightfully theirs.

So, when Prophet ﷺ said: ❝or severing ties of kinship❞, it is like he ﷺ is warning not to ignore the relatives after one has gained some wealth. Similar to what Allaah has mentioned in the Qur’aan about the owners of gardens (farms) when the time of harvest came, they rushed toward their plantation so that they could avoid the poor and the needy:
أَنِ اغْدُوا عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَارِمِينَ ‎*‏ فَانطَلَقُوا وَهُمْ يَتَخَافَتُونَ ‎*‏ أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌ
{If you want to gather the fruits, let us go early to the plantation. So, they departed, talking in low voices: “Let no needy person come to you within it today”} 2️⃣

Allaah sent a calamity on their farms and destroyed their produce. This warning is a reminder of the importance of humility and compassion, especially towards those who may be less fortunate.

💢💢💢

To summarize, both of these actions mentioned in this Hadeeth is summed up in the saying of Allaah

{O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from remembrance of Allaah} 3️⃣

At no point in your life should your wealth make you disobey Allaah. 4️⃣

The remembrance of Allaah is greater, loftier, and better than anything else. It is the best thing person can do, as Allaah تعالى said:
اتْلُ مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ ۖ إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ تَنْهَىٰ عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنكَرِ ۗ وَلَذِكْرُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ
{Recite (O Muhammad ﷺ) what has been revealed to you of the Book (the Qur’aan), and perform al-Ṣalaah. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allaah is greater. And Allaah knows what you do} [4]

The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝The two Rakaat (before) the Fajr (prayer) are better than this world and everything in it.❞ [5]

Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: ❝For me to say: “Sub-ḥaan Allaah (Allaah is free from imperfection), wal-ḥamdulillaah (all praise is due to Allaah), wa laa ilaaha illallaah (there is none worthy of worship but Allaah), wal-laahu Akbar (Allaah is the Greatest)”, is more beloved to me than all that the sun has risen over (i.e., the whole world).❞ [6]

And there are many more Aḥaadeeth that speak about the virtues of the remembrance of Allaah, for example, saying: “Sub-ḥaan Allaahi wa bi ḥamdih” and “Sub-ḥaan Allaahi al-
Aẓheem” are the most beloved words to Allaah and the heaviest on the scales. Also, the Ḥadeeth that “Laa ilaaha illallaah” will outweigh everything on the scale.

🌟 The rewards are multiplied for reciting every letter of the Qur'aan:

The Prophet ﷺ said:
❝Whoever recites a letter from Allaah’s Book (the Qur’aan), he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a tenfold reward. I do not say that Alif-Laam-Meem (الـــم) is (one) letter, but Alif (أ) is a letter, Laam (ل) is a letter and Meem (م) is a letter.❞ [1]

The saying of the Prophet ﷺ: ❝and a good deed gets a tenfold reward❞, i.e., it will be multiplied ten times, and this is the least number of multiplications, which is also promised in the Book of Allaah:
مَن جَاءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ عَشْرُ أَمْثَالِهَا ۖ وَمَن جَاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجْزَىٰ إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
{Whoever brings a good deed shall have ten times the like thereof to his credit, and whoever brings an evil deed shall have only the recompense of the like thereof, and they will not be wronged} [2]

Allaah gives manifold increase to whom He pleases. [3] [4]

[2] Surah al-An`aam (6): 106

[3] Tuhfatul Ahwadhee (8/182)

[4] Allaah عز وجل multiplies the reward for whom He Wills, from ten times to seven hundred times, or even more, and to some He تعالى will give reward without measure. And this has been mentioned in numerous Aayaat and Ahaadeeth.

👉 a) Rewards are multiplied between ten and seven hundred times:

Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: ❝If a person embraces Islaam sincerely, then Allaah shall forgive all his past sins. After that starts the settlement of accounts, the reward of his good deeds will be ten times to seven hundred times for each good deed and one evil deed will be recorded as it is unless Allaah forgives it.❞
[Saḥeeḥ al-Bukhaaree (41)]

Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: ❝If any one of you improves (follows strictly) his Islaamic religion then his good deeds will be rewarded ten times to seven hundred times for each good deed and a bad deed will be recorded as it is.❞
[Saḥeeḥ al-Bukhaaree (42)]

Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: ❝Allaah says: {If My slave intends to do a bad deed then (O Angels) do not write it unless he does it; if he does it, then write it as it is, but if he refrains from doing it for My Sake, then write it as a good deed (in his account). (On the other hand), if he intends to do a good deed but does not do it, then write a good deed (in his account), and if he does it, then write it for him (in his account) as ten good deeds up to seven hundred times.}❞
[Saḥeeḥ al-Bukhaaree (6491, 7501) and Saḥeeḥ Muslim]

Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: ❝He who intended to do good but did not do it, one good was recorded for him, and he who intended to do good and also did it, ten to seven hundred good deeds were recorded for him. And he who intended evil, but did not commit it, no entry was made against his name, but if he committed that, it was recorded.❞
[Saḥeeḥ Muslim (130)]

👉 b) Rewards are multiplied seven hundred times or more:

{The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allaah, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allaah gives manifold increase to whom He pleases. And Allaah is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower.}
[Surah al-Baqarah (2): 261]

The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝Whoever spends in the cause of Allaah, it will be recorded for him seven hundredfold.❞

🔥Indeed, he who does not recite the Qur’aan, ponder over its meaning, and act upon its teachings has been deprived of a lot of Khair.

Abee Shuraih al-Khuzaaee رضي الله عنه said: (One day) the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم came out and said: “Receive the glad tidings! Receive the glad tidings! Don’t you bear witness that: ‘No one has the right to be worshiped except Allaah (لا إله إلا الله) and that I (Muhammad) am the Messenger of Allaah?” We said: Yes! He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Indeed! This Qur’aan is a rope. One end is in the Hand of Allaah, and the other end is in your hands. So hold fast to it. (If you do so), you will never go astray, nor will you be destroyed after it.”

📚[Saheeh Ibn Hibbaan (122), Musannaf Ibn Abee Shaibah (30006), al-Tabaraanee in al-Kabeer (491).
Shaikh al-Albaanee graded it as “Saheeh” in al-Saheehah (713) and in Saheeh al-Targheeb (38, 39).
Shaikh Muqbil graded it as “Hasan” in al-Saheeh al-Musnad (1231).

📚[Saheeh Muslim (5923)]

Narrated Zaid bin Arqam رضي الله عنه: The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Indeed, I am leaving among you, that which if you hold fast to them, you shall not be misguided after me. One of them is greater than the other: The Book of Allaah is a rope extended from the sky to the earth, and my family - the people of my house - and they shall not split until they meet at the Hawd, so look at how you deal with them after me.”

🚫 Do not block the path of response with sins:

Yahya bin Muaadh al-Raazee used to say: “The response is not delayed when you supplicate, except for when you have already blocked its path with sins.”
📚 [Shu
ab al-Imaan (1114)]

💢💢💢

⚡️1. We have overlooked one of the biggest hindrance which prevents our Du`aa’ from being answered, and that is unlawful earnings.

Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝Verily Allaah تعالى is pure. He does not accept but that which is pure. Allaah commands the believers with what He commanded the Messengers.

Allaah عز وجل has said:
{O you Messengers! Eat of the good things and act righteously}
📚 [Surah al-Mu’minoon (23):51]

And Allaah تعالى also said:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُلُوا مِن طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ
{O you who believe! Eat of the good things that We have provided you with}
📚 [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 172]

Then he ﷺ mentioned (the case of) the man who, having journeyed far, is disheveled and dusty and who stretches out his hands to the sky (saying): “O Lord! O Lord!” (while) his food was unlawful, his drink was unlawful, his clothing was unlawful, and he is nourished with unlawful things, so how can he be answered?❞
📚 [Saheeh Muslim (1692)]

📑 Note:
This person fulfilled three conditions in which supplications are quickly answered:
1. He is traveling
2. He is destitute
3. He raised his hands for supplication
Yet, his supplication was not answered because his food, drink, and clothes were earned through unlawful means.

🌴🌴🌴

⚡️2. Furthermore, Allaah تعالى commanded us to enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil. But look at us, many among us do the opposite. They enjoin what is evil (sharing cigarettes, movies, music, etc.), and little do they care for calling others towards righteousness.

Narrated Hudhaifah: The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝By Him in Whose hand my soul is, you must enjoin what is reputable and forbid what is disreputable, or Allaah will certainly soon send punishment from Himself to you. Then you will make supplication and not receive an answer.❞
📚 [Tirmidhee (2169) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Narrated Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq رضي الله عنه: “You people recite this Aayah:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ لَا يَضُرُّكُم مَّن ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ
{You who believe! Care for yourselves; he who goes astray can not harm you when you are rightly guided.}”
📚 [Surah al-Maaidah (5): 105]

I heard Allaah's Messenger ﷺ say: ❝When people see something objectionable and do not change it, Allaah will soon include them all in His punishment.❞
📚 [Sunan Abu Dawood (4338), Ibn Majah (4005), and Sunan al- Tirmidhee (3057) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Teach your children al-Tawheed (to single out Allaah in worship) before they start kissing metals and shrines…

And before they start prostrating at the thresholds of the shrines and ask for help from the dead.

What is the fault of this poor child???

Teach your children that one should not supplicate except to Allaah تعالى alone.

Teach them that success is only achieved by relying on Allaah تعالى and hoping in Him while taking the necessary measures.

Teach them that healing and curing are in the Hands of Allaah تعالى alone and not in the hands of the creation, and that medicine and treatments are just a means.

Teach them that the future is in the Hands of Allaah تعالى, and the knowledge of this is with Allaah alone.

Teach them that they should ask only Allaah تعالى - the Originator of the heavens and the earth - for the fulfillment of their needs, and no one else. And the beseeching for the removal of fears can only be fulfilled by Allaah تعالى alone.

Teach them to cling to Allaah, and that help comes from Allaah, and the vows are for Allaah, and support comes from Allaah alone.

If these dead or saints had control over the universe, they would have benefited themselves first.

Teach them that the Prophet ﷺ died and never did his wives or Companions, may Allaah be pleased with them, asked or supplicated to him in his grave…

…those who fought battles along with him ﷺ, and were afflicted with the plague, famine, and other diseases, but not one of them asked anyone other than his Lord.

And the great ones among them did not seek help from anyone other than their Lord, nor did they prostrate except to Allaah, al-`Azeez (the All-Mighty), al-Qahhaar (the Irresistible), and they did not cry except to Allaah, and they did not shed their tears to anyone other than Allaah, Blessed be He in His highness.

Teach your children the pure and pristine Faith, and keep them away from the bottomless pit of polytheistic innovations.

For this is your responsibility before Allaah

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: Allaah's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ❝No child is born except on Al-Fitrah (Islaam) and then his parents turn him into a Jew, Christian or Magian – like an animal which produces a perfect young animal; do you see any part of its body amputated?❞ Then he recited:
فَأَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفًا ۚ فِطْرَتَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا ۚ لَا تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
{So set you (O Muhammad ﷺ) your face towards the religion of pure Islaamic Monotheism (Haneefaa) (i.e., worship none but Allaah Alone). Allaah’s Fitrah (i.e., Allaah’s Islaamic Monotheism), with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalq-illah (i.e., the Religion of Allaah Islaamic Monotheism), that is the straight religion, but most of the people do not know.}
[Reported by al-Bukhaaree & Muslim. And the Aayah is from Surah al-Room (30): 30]

💠 Be firm upon the Truth!

🎓 Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Saaleh al-Uthaymeen رحمه الله said:

“Be firm, and do not change (your stance) because of the large number of attacks on you nor due to (their) being offended by your words. As long as you are upon the truth, then be firm, for truth is never budged (by falsehood). Thereafter, defend (the truth) if you are in a weak position. There is nothing less than defending (the truth). But if you are in a strong position, then upon you is to attack (the falsehood). For the days take turns (sometimes in your favor and sometimes otherwise).

But (remember), the most important thing is that even if you are in a weaker position, then you should remain firm. And never say: ‘Oh, all the people are in opposition to this.’ Rather, be firm, for Allaah aids His Deen, His Book, His Messenger throughout the ages.

There is no doubt that you will face harm (from the people). Here is Imaam Ahmad, he was dragged by a mule in the market and was whipped. But he was patiently firm.

And here is Shaikh al-Islaam (Ibn Taymiyyah), who was driven around in the market on a cart and was thrown in the prison, but he remained firm.

It is not possible that the earth will always be a carpet of roses and flowers for a person who clings to the Sunnah (for he will face opposition and will be harmed by the people).”

The Emergence Of Time When Bidah Will Be Considered As Sunnah:

The Companion, Hudhaifah bin al-Yamaan رضي الله عنه once took two stones and placed one on top of the other and asked his companions: ❝Do you see any light (passing) between these two stones?❞

They said: “O Abu Abdullaah! We don’t see any light (passing) between these two stones except for very little.”

He said: ❝By the One (Allaah) in whose Hand is my soul! Verily, Bidah (religious innovation) will (soon) appear till nothing of the truth is seen except for the amount of light which you see (passing) between these two stones. By Allaah! Bidah will circulate (so much) so that if something of it is left out, the people will say: The Sunnah had been abandoned.❞

💠 HADEETH: Virtues of Reciting the Qur’aan

Uqbah Ibn Aamir رضي الله عنه reported: When we were in al-Ṣuffah, the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ came out and said: ❝Which of you would like to go out every morning to Buṭḥaan or al-Aqeeq and bring two large she-camels without being guilty of sin or severing the ties of kinship?❞ We said: “Messenger of Allaah, we would love to do it.” Upon this, he ﷺ said: ❝Does not one of you go out in the morning to the Masjid and learn or recite two Aayaat (verses) from the Book of Allaah عز وجل? That is better for him than two she-camels (Naaqah), and three Aayaat (verses) are better (than three she-camels (Naaqah)), and four verses are better for him than four (she-camels (Naaqah)), and so on their number in camels (Ibl).❞ [1]

🌴 Lessons learned from this Ḥadeeth:

1️⃣ The Prophet ﷺ taught his companions the virtue of the Noble Qur’aan and explained to them the reward for learning it, teaching it, and reciting it. In this Ḥadeeth,
Uqbah Ibn Aamir رضي الله عنه narrated that the Prophet ﷺ came to them while they were sitting in al-Ṣuffah, which is a shaded area in the Prophet’s Masjid (al-Masjid al-Nabawee). The poor Muhaajiroon (immigrants from Makkah) who did not have a house or relatives in Madeenah used to stay there.

He ﷺ asked them: ❝Which of you would like to go out every morning❞, i.e., in the early part of the day, ❝to Buṭḥaan❞, and it a place near the al-Madeenah, extending from its south to its west. ❝or al-
Aqeeq❞, it is a valley in al-Madeenah whose waters are collected from the al-Aqeeq area, which is more than a hundred kilometers south of al-Madeenah and reaches to the outskirts of the city. The Prophet ﷺ specifically mentioned Buṭḥaan and al-Aqeeq because they are the closest places to al-Madeenah, where camel markets are held. ❝And bring two large she-camels❞, i.e., bring two large humped and fat she-camels. He ﷺ used them as an example because the `Arabs considered the camels among the best of wealth. Would they like to obtain the two camels without committing a sin, such as theft, or without severing the ties of kinship because of them? The Companions replied that they would love to do that.

He ﷺ replied to all those who liked to amass that good: ❝Does not one of you go out in the morning to the Masjid❞, i.e., wakes up early morning and goes to the Masjid, ❝and learn or recite two Aayaat (verses) from the Book of Allaah عز وجل? That is better for him than two she-camels❞, meaning: the good that comes from learning two Aayaat or reciting them is better with Allaah than obtaining two she-camels and whatever good they would have accumulated from these two she-camels.

Similarly, three Aayaats are better than three she-camels, and four Aayaats are better than four. And the statement of the Prophet ﷺ: ❝and so on their number in camels❞, meaning: The more Aayaat they learn or recite that will be far better for them than a similar number of camels.

From this, one learns that learning the Qur’aan is better than seeking wealth, and this is general, and it is significantly more appropriate for those who have free time.

From this Ḥadeeth, one also learns about the virtue of seeking knowledge, learning the Qur’aan and reciting it, and remembering Allaah.

From this Ḥadeeth, one also learns that they should be keen in teaching others that would benefit them in this world and the Hereafter. [2]

2️⃣ The conclusion is that the Prophet ﷺ wanted to encourage them to seek (the righteous good deeds) that will last (in the Hereafter) and to make them lose interest in transient things. So, his ﷺ mentioning of this is by way of example and to make it easier for them to understand. Otherwise, the entire world is too insignificant to be compared to learning and reciting an Aayah from the Book of Allaah العزيز الحميد, or the reward of gaining higher ranks (in the Jannah). [3]

👉 c) Rewards of Fasting is more than seven hundred times:

The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝Every good deed of the son of Aadam will be multiplied manifold. A good deed will be multiplied ten times up to as many as seven hundred times, or as much as Allaah wills. Allaah says: {Except for fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it.}❞
[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (764), Sunan al-Nasaa’ee (2215), Sunan Ibn Maajah (1638, 3823) and the wording is his, and graded as “Saḥeeḥ” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

👉 d) Rewards of Sabr (Patience) will be given without measures:
Allaah تعالى says:

إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
{Only those who are patient shall receive their rewards in full, without reckoning}

THE QUR’AAN AS A HEALER:

Allaah تعالى said:

{And We send down from the Qur’aan that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe}
[Surah al-Israa (17): 82]

{Say: “It is for those who believe, a guidance and a healing.”}
[Surah Fussilat (41): 44]

The Qur’aan is the speech of Allaah, and there is nothing like it, and nothing can stand in its way. The Qur’aan is the best Dhikr (remembrance of Allaah), the best healer, and remover of anxiety and distress for those who recite it morning and evening and ponder over its meaning and contemplate over its teachings. There is nothing like it in removing the suffering, anxiety, distress, and mental illness. Through the recitation of the Qur’aan, the hearts are satisfied, calmed, and settled down in a way that cannot be described. So, depending upon the level a slave approaches the Book of Allaah - by reciting it, pondering over its meaning, memorizing it, learning it, teaching it, and acting upon its teachings – he will find happiness, rest, relief, tranquility, healing, cure, satisfaction to that level. The more one does this, the more he will receive. The more one recites, the more he will be given; the less one recites, the less he will be given; if one abandons it, and he will be abandoned.

💢Do not attribute "your wordings" or "your interpretation" of the Hadeeth to the Prophet

🎓 Shaikh Saaleh al-Fawzaan:

👉It is not possible that you can (correctly) act upon a Hadeeth without understanding its meaning; and nor is it allowed for you to interpret it from your own when you don’t understand its meaning. Don’t say: “the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said such-and-such and this is what it means”, till you understand the correct meaning, that which the reliable scholars have affirmed (and explained). So you should not attribute to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم except the wording, do not attribute to him صلى الله عليه وسلم your own interpretation; and that too only those narrations which you came to know about their authenticity.

Be upon complete Yaqeen (certainty) that your affairs started with Allaah's Commands and they will end with Allaah's Commands, and Allaah rules with Wisdom. No one obeys Him except with His permission, and no one disobeys Him except that He is aware of it. He rewards the doers of good, and He forgives the sinners if they repent. So, do not waste your time at the entrances of the gates of the creation, for Allaah is more Merciful towards you than anyone amongst the creation can ever be. So, supplicate to Him earnestly and with humility, saying: "Yaa Allaah! Yaa Allaah! Yaa Allaah!", and pour your heart out, and beseech Him for all your needs. For He is Most-Kind, Most-Generous, who will never allow His slaves to return empty handed.

Question: Is it legislated to raise the hands in every supplication?

Shaikh Ibn al-Uthaymeen: “This is divided into three categories:

First Category: The instances in which it is mentioned about raising the hands.
Second Category: The instances in which it is mentioned about not raising the hands.
Third Category: The instances about which nothing has been mentioned.

First Category: If the Khateeb (the one who is appointed for the Friday sermon) supplicates for al-Istisqaa’ (supplication for rain) or al-Istiṣ-haa’ (supplication for the rain to stop), then he should raise his hands, and the congregation should do likewise. As what has been reported in Saheeh al-Bukhaaree from the Hadeeth of Anas رضي الله عنه, in the incident of the Bedouin who sought from the Prophet ﷺ - during the Friday sermon - to supplicate for rain. So, the Prophet ﷺ raised both his hands invoking Allaah (for rain) and the people too raised their hands with Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ invoking Allaah (for rain). [1]

Also, all that has been reported in the Sunnah about raising the hands during Qunoot al-Nawaazil (supplication against an oppressor or when a calamity strikes) and Witr.

Similarly, raising the hands while on (mount) al-Safa and (mount) al-Marwah, and while in (the plains of)
Arafah, and other similar incidents. The matter regarding this is clear.

Second Category: What has been mentioned about not raising the hands, for example: at the time (when the Khateeb) supplicates while giving the Friday sermon other than al-Istisqaa’ (supplication for rain) and al-Istiṣ-haa’ (supplication for the rain to stop). Therefore, if the Khateeb supplicates for the Believers - men and women, or for the victory of the Mujaahideen (those who fight for Allaah’s cause), while he is giving the Friday sermon, then he should not raise his hands, and if he does so, then (that action of his) is to be rebuked.

It is reported in Saheeh Muslim, on the authority of Umaarah Ibn Ruwaibah رضي الله عنه saw Bishr Ibn Marwaan on the pulpit raising his hands, so he (Umaarah) said: “Allaah, disfigure these hands! I have seen the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ on the pulpit gesturing no more than this”, and he pointed with his forefinger. [2]

Similarly, (it is not legislated) to raise the hands while supplicating in the Salaah, like at the time of invocation between the two Sujood (prostrations), and at the time of invocation after the final Tashahhud (and before the Salaam), and the like. The matter regarding this is clear.

Third Category: The instances in which nothing has been reported – neither about raising the hands nor about not raising the hands. In such cases, precedence is in raising the hands, because it is from the proper etiquettes while supplicating and is the means of quick response (from Allaah).

The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝Indeed Allaah is Hayiy (Shy) and Kareem (Most Generous) and is ashamed to allow His servant’s hands to return empty after he has raised them up to Him.❞ [3]

But there are instances where it is preferred not to raise the hands, even if nothing has been reported, for example, the invocation between the two (parts of) the Friday sermon. Here, we do not know if the Companions used to invoke (Allaah) and raise their hands between the two (parts of) the Khutbah. So, raising the hands at this time is subject to discussion. So, whoever raises his hands, because the precedence while supplicating is to raise the hands, is not to be rebuked. And whoever does not raise his hands because, as apparently, this is what the Companions used to do (i.e., did not raise their hands), then he is not to be rebuked. The matter about this - by Allaah’s Will - is vast.”

♻️ Importance of learning the right way to offer the Salaah

1️⃣ Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:
❝Indeed the first deed by which a servant will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection is his Salaah. If it is complete, he is successful and saved, but if it is defective, he has failed and lost. So if something is deficient in his obligatory (prayers) then the Lord عز وجل will say (to the Angels while He knows best): {Look and see whether My slave has any voluntary prayers to make up for what is deficient from his obligatory prayers.} Then the rest of his deeds will be treated like that.❞
📚[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (413) and the wordings are his, Sunan Abu Dawood (864), Sunan al-Nasaa’ee (465. 466. 467), and Sunan Ibn Maajah (1425, 1426) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee.

2️⃣ `Ammaar bin Yasir رضي الله عنهما said: I heard the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ say: ❝ A man returns after saying his prayer while only a tenth part of his prayer, or a ninth part, or an eight part, or a seventh part, or a sixth part, or a fifth part, or a third part, or half of it, is recorded for him.❞
📚 [Sunan Abu Dawood (796) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

3️⃣ Narrated Zaid bin Wahb: Hudhaifah رضي الله عنه saw a person who was not performing the bowing and prostration perfectly. He said to him: ❝You have not prayed and if you should die you would die on a religion other than that of Muhammad
📚[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (791)]

4️⃣ Zayd bin Wahb reports: We were once sitting in the Masjid with Hudhaifah (ibn Al-Yamaan) رضي الله عنه when a man entered from the gates of Kindah and stood to pray; but he did not complete the bowing or prostration postures. When he had finished praying, Hudhaifah asked him: ❝How long have you been praying in this manner?❞ The man replied: “For forty years.” Hudhaifah said: ❝You have not prayed for forty years! And if you were to die praying in this manner you would die upon a way (fitrah) other than the way of Muhammad

If you want to know the state of your heart, then check the state of your tongue. If you keep your tongue moist by constantly remembering Allaah, then you will have a heart that is alive and bears fruits.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
❝Let not your tongue cease to be moist with the remembrance of Allaah
📚 [Sunan al-Tirmidhee (3375) and Sunan Ibn Maajah (3793), and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Meaning: always keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allaah.

If the tongue is dry, i.e., if it does not remember Allaah, then it is similar to a dry, dead land.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
❝The similitude of one who remembers his Rabb and one who does not remember Him is like that of the living and the dead.❞
📚 [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (6407) and the wordings are his and Saheeh Muslim (779)]

The remembrance of Allaah rejuvenates the heart and revives the soul. As Allaah تعالى said:
{Indeed, in the remembrance of Allaah, the hearts find rest}
📚 [Surah al-Rad (13): 28]

There is nothing like the remembrance of Allaah in giving comfort, solace, and assurances to the heart.

Badr al-Deen al-
Ainee said: “In this Hadeeth (i.e., the first one), there is indication that the remembrance of Allaah revives every part in a person’s (body). The tongue that does not remember Allaah is dry, like dry land. But when he remembers Allaah, his tongue becomes moist and alive, like the rain when it falls on a dry land, it gives life to the earth after its lifelessness.”
