🎓Shaikh al-`Uthaymeen رحمه الله said:
❝Observe how Allaah تعالى said: {If We Willed, We could crumble it to dry pieces}, and He تعالى did not say: “If We Willed, We would not have let it grow”, because when it grows and the people see it, their hearts become attached towards it (and the hope grows to eat from its fruit). So, if He تعالى makes it to dry pieces after their hearts are attached to it, it would hurt them more. And that is why He تعالى said: {If We Willed, We could crumble it to dry pieces}, and He تعالى did not say: “If We Willed, We would not have let it grow”.❞ [4]

And Allaah تعالى described this more beautifully and eloquently when He تعالى said:

{Would any of you wish to have a garden with date palms and vines, with rivers flowing underneath, and all kinds of fruits for him therein, while he is stricken with old age, and his children are weak (not able to look after themselves), then it (the garden) is struck with a fiery whirlwind containing a fire so that it is burnt? Thus does Allaah make clear His Aayaat (proofs, evidence, verses) to you that you may give thought} [5]

Meaning: "Does anyone of you wish to have a garden with date palms and vines, with rivers of fresh water flowing underneath its trees, and there are all kinds of fruits for him therein, but he has become old and cannot cultivate his farm any longer, and he has small children and no one to look after them. While he is in this weak state, his garden is struck with a fiery whirlwind containing fire and it burns everything therein. This is the description of the condition of those who are not sincere (in their intentions and) in what they spend. They will come on the Day of Judgment (empty-handed), without any good deeds (nor will they be rewarded). And Allaah mentions the likes of these similitudes for our benefit so that we become sincere (in our intentions)." [6]

It is the sudden loss that has the worst psychological effect. Losing the house due to an earthquake or fire, or the car or the child in an accident. Such sudden, unexpected incidents have the most devastating effects. No one is prepared for that. Rather, nothing can prepare someone for that except the remembrance of Allaah!

🌴🌴🌴

🌟 The Three Important Adhkaar That Provide Comfort To The Hearts:

We need to remember, this life is not ours; the children, the wealth, the luxuries, nothing is ours. Even our stay on this earth is not permanent. We are like travelers and nomads, passing through this earth, and these luxuries have been provided as a temporary means to assist us in this journey. We know we are going to die and lose everything, yet we are not prepared for that eventuality when it affects us.

So, when things get tough, just try to remember these Aayaat and Adhkaar to help you get through this phase in your life:

#1 The saying of Allaah

{Who, when disaster strikes them, say: “Indeed we belong to Allaah, and indeed to Him we will return”} [7]

#2 The statement of the Prophet ﷺ:

إن لله ما أخذ وله ما أعطى وكل شيء عنده بأجل مسمى فلتصبر ولتحتسب

❝Whatever Allaah takes is for Him and whatever He gives, is for Him, and everything with Him has a limited fixed term (in this world), so be patient and hope for Allaah’s reward❞ [8]

#3 Another statement of the Prophet ﷺ:

اللَّهُمَّ لاَ مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ، وَلاَ مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ، وَلاَ يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ
❝O Allaah! No one can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold, and the riches of a fortunate person will be of no avail to him against You, for from You comes all wealth and fortune.❞ [9]

When he prayed for the salvation of the weak and oppressed in Makkah, he said: “O Allaah, O Allaah, save al-Waleed ibn al-Waleed, Salamah ibn Hishaam, Ayyaash ibn Abi Rabeeah and the weak and oppressed believers.” When he prayed against some of the Arab tribes because of the severity of their enmity towards Allaah and His Messenger, he ﷺ said: “O Allaah, punish Mudar severely and send upon them a famine like that of Yoosuf.”

When he ﷺ prayed against some of the Arab tribes who had betrayed 70 of the Sahaabah and killed them, he prayed that they be cursed.

🌴🌴🌴

💠From the statement of the scholars:

🎓Shaikh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyah رحمه الله said:
It is prescribed to say Qunoot at times of calamity, praying for the believers and praying against the disbelievers, in Fajr and other prayers. Thus Umar رضي الله عنه said Qunoot when fighting the Christians, in his Duaa’ in which he said: “O Allaah, curse the disbelievers of the people of the Book…” Similarly, Alee رضي الله عنه once fought a people and said Qunoot and prayed against them. The person who is saying Qunoot should say, at the time of each calamity, a supplication that is appropriate to that calamity. If he names the believers for whom he is praying and the disbelievers against whom he is praying, that is good.
📚[Majmoo
al-Fataawa (22/271)]

🎓It says in Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah (22/271):
It is proven that the Prophet ﷺ used to say Qunoot at times of calamity, praying against the aggressors among the disbelievers, and praying for the weak and oppressed Muslims to be saved from the plots and captivity of the Kuffaar.

🎓Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen رحمه الله said:
He should say Qunoot with a supplication that is appropriate to the calamity that has come. Hence the Messenger ﷺ used to say Qunoot with words that were appropriate to the calamity, and he did not say “Allaahumma ihdini fiman hadayta/O Allaah, guide me among those whom You have guided…” as some of the common folk do. It is not narrated in any hadeeth, Saheeh or Dha`eef, that the Messenger ﷺ ever used to say: “Allaahumma ihdini fiman hadayta/O Allaah, guide me among those whom You have guided…”) in obligatory prayers; rather he would offer a supplication that was appropriate to that calamity. On one occasion, he ﷺ prayed for some of the weak and oppressed people, asking Allaah to save them, until they came (to him in Madeenah).
📚[al-Sharh al-Mumti’ (4/45)]

Based on this, the worshipper should choose a supplication that is appropriate to the calamity, and say that.

🌺🌺🌺

So, if one cannot pray even during the times of calamities , then indeed their Imaan is weak, and that prayer has become hard for them to perform. And what calamity is worse than this?!

On one Friday, many years ago (in 2009 or 2010), after having attended the Khutbah of my Shaikh Muhammad al-Maalikee حفظه الله in Jeddah, I along with a friend went to Makkah to attend the class of Shaikh Rabee Ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee حفظه الله. Those days Shaikh Rabee was teaching at his home library and explaining the book: “الباعث الحثيث شرح إختصار علوم الحديث” written by al-Haafidh Ibn Katheer رحمه الله.

From there we came to know that the Hanbalee Shaikh, Abdullaah Ibn Abdul-Azeez al-Aqeel رحمه الله – the former Chairman of the Permanent Commission of the Supreme Judicial Council of Saudi Arabia and one of the last students of the Shaikh, the Mufassir, Abdul Rahmaan Ibn Naaser al-Sadee رحمه الله, and a contemporary of Shaikh Ibn al-Uthaymeen رحمه الله - had come from Riyaadh. We attended his brief class between Maghrib and Ishaa in Masjid al-Haraam.

And from there we learned that Shaikh Abdulaah al-Aqeel رحمه الله was invited by a person to come to his place after Ishaa and he invited all the students too. A lot of students attended that gathering. To our surprise the Muhaddtih, Shaikh Wasee-Ullaah Abbaas حفظه الله was also present there. Even though Shaikh Wasee-Ullaah is a mountain of Knowledge in his own rights, yet he showed his humility in the presence of Shaikh al-Aqeel - who was older to him in age - and refused to present a talk in his presence. Then like a student, Shaikh Wasee-Ullaah was reading from a book and Shaikh al-Aqeel was giving an explanation. Hajj was around the corner, so they were reading and explaining Ahaadeeth related to Hajj and its Masaail. The host, may Allaah reward him with abundance, was very generous and had ordered dinner for all those who were present there at his place.

On another occasion, a similar incident took place between Shaikh, the Muhaddith, Muhammad
Alee Aadam al-Ethiopee رحمه الله and the Shaikh, the Muhaddith, Wasee-Ullaah `Abbaas حفظه الله. Shaikh Wasee-Ullaah was reading from a book and Shaikh al-Ethiopee was explaining the Ahaadeeth. The respect these two scholars showed to each other was amazing. They were contemporaries in knowledge and friends in life, having fun, laughing, and smiling at each other.

Those were the days - that apart from seeking knowledge - we also learned good manners from our scholars. They showed us that beneficial knowledge only increases one in humility!

As Allaah تعالى mentioned:

{Only those fear Allaah, from among His servants, who have knowledge}
[Surah Faatir (35): 28]

Keep it simple:
If there is no reference, then do not share it, as well as avoid clicking on the "like" button.

Over the years, it has been noticed that many brothers post statements (in the form of text or picture) and attribute it to a scholar on their wall/page without mentioning the reference. And upon verifying, it turns out that that statement is wrongly attributed to that scholar. Even if the statement is correct in its meaning, it is improper to attribute it to a person who has never said it.

I have seen statements being attributed to the Companions like Alee, Ibn Abbaas and others رضي الله عنهم or to scholars like Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, Hasan al-Basree, Ibn Baaz, al-Albaanee رحمهم الله without a proper reference so that one could verify them.

I personally believe that a person who does not quote the reference is being insincere. And I avoid sharing or clicking on the "like" button if I did not or could not verify the post.

There are four issues that comes our way:
1. Statement is quoted without the reference.
2. Statement is correct but the referencing is wrong.
3. Reference is correct but the statement is wrong.
4. Statement is wrong and the reference is wrong.

🔘 How to identify what your state will be like in the grave?

🎓 Ibn al-Qayyim said:

❝The state of a person in the grave will be like the state of the heart in the chest; in bliss or facing punishment, imprisoned or roaming freely. If you want to know what your state in the grave will be like, then look at the state of your heart in your chest.

💠 If the your heart is filled with joy and tranquility, and is pure (clean from pride, envy and other evils) - then by the Will of Allaah, the same will be your state in the grave. And it's opposite is also true.

💠 This is why you find that a person - who is obedient (to Allaah), and has good manners (with the creation), and who is forgiving (and kind) - to be the most tranquil (and at rest).

💠 Faith takes away distress, removes the grief, and it (Faith) is the coolness of the eyes of the one upon Tawheed (monotheism), and (the means of) comfort for the worshipers.

➡️ Whoever is preoccupied with Tasbeeh (saying: Sub-haan Allaah), his private affairs will be taken care of.

➡️ And whoever is preoccupied with al-Hamd (saying: alhamdulillaah), he will be given bounties one after the other.

➡️ And whoever is preoccupied with al-Istighfaar, the locked (doors) will be opened for him.❞

🎓Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said (paraphrased):
❝When Allaah تعالى intends good for His slave, He تعالى removes from his heart the remembrance of the good deeds that he had done (so that pride doesn't overtake him), and He تعالى prevents his tongue from speaking about his good deeds (so that he doesn't boast about it to others), and He تعالى keeps him preoccupied with remembering his sins (so that he frequently seeks Allaah's forgiveness for his actions), and this feeling (of remorse for his misdeeds) remains with him till he enters the Jannah.❞

Allaah تعالى also said:
{He it is Who enables you to travel through land and sea, till when you are in the ships and they sail with them with a favorable wind, and they are glad therein, then comes a stormy wind and the waves come to them from all sides, and they think that they are encircled therein, they invoke Allaah, making their Faith pure for Him Alone, saying: "If You (Allaah) deliver us from this, we shall truly be of the grateful. But when He delivered them, behold! They rebel (disobey Allaah) in the earth wrongfully. O mankind! Your rebellion (disobedience to Allaah) is only against your ownselves, - a brief enjoyment of this worldly life, then (in the end) unto Us is your return, and We shall inform you that which you used to do.}
📚[Surah Yunus (10):22-23]

6️⃣ This is why Abdul Rahmaan Ibn Auf رضي الله عنه said: ❝We were tested along with the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ by adversity, so we were patient, then we were tested after him with prosperity, but we were not patient.❞

👉Meaning: We could not fully thank Allaah, as was due to Him, during times of ease and prosperity.

7️⃣ This is why, when a person receives the luxuries of the world, he does not know whether this is good for him or a plot against him. He is deceived beyond reason.

8️⃣ So, when Allaah prevents you from worldly luxuries, it is for your own good. He تعالى knows best that were He to bestow it upon you, it would lead to your destruction, and that you would become ungrateful, and not fulfill Allaah’s rights as is due to Him.

9️⃣ So many people were granted the goodness (luxuries of this world), but its end turned out to be evil for them! They were poor, used to humble themselves to Allaah, invoke Allaah earnestly, and used to raise their hands (in supplication). They had a close relationship with their Lord, (supplicating to Allaah) all the time, “O Allaah! Provide for us!”, “O Allaah! (Help us) repay our loans!” But when Allaah expanded for them and provided them the luxuries, they hardly remembered Allaah except a little.

Whenever the topic of Bidah comes up, to counter the argument, many come up with questions like:

"Did the Prophet ﷺ travel in a ship?

Did the Salaf travel in cars and planes?

Prove from the Sunnah that it is permissible to eat fried chicken?"

One has to understand that vehicles, planes, and ships are used only as a means to reach the destination, they are not part of
Ibaadah in themselves.

When we talk about Bidah, we are referring to innovations in the Deen only. We are not referring to innovations in Science and Technology.

Anyways, to get to the point, if the people would commit to memory these two principles, they would protect their Deen and save themselves from doubts and confusion.

The First Principle:
In the matters of
Ibaadah (Worship), everything is Haraam/not allowed unless proven from the Qur’aan and Sunnah.

And the evidence for this is the saying of the Prophet ﷺ: ❝whosoever does an action which we have not commanded then it will be rejected.❞

And also: ❝whosoever introduces into this religion of ours that which is not part of it then it must be rejected.❞

And there are many more Ahaadeeth.

The Second Principle:
And in the matters of customs (food, clothing etc.), everything is allowed unless prohibited in the Qur’aan and Sunnah.

And the evidence for this is the saying of Allaah

{Say: "Who has forbidden the adornment of Allaah which He has produced for His servants and the good [lawful] things of provision?"} [Surah al-A`raaf]

And Allaah is the One who Grants success.

💠 Even the people of Hellfire will not enter the Hellfire till they receive complete justice for their sufferings at the hands of others in this world!

Jaabir Ibn Abdullaah رضي الله عنهما said: I purchased a camel and rode it hard for a month until I reached Syria as Abdullaah Ibn Unays رضي الله عنه was living there, and I sent word to him, saying: "Jaabir is at the door." The messenger returned and said: "Jaabir Ibn Abdullaah?" "Yes", I replied. So Abdullaah came out and embraced me. I said: "A Hadeeth reached me which I had not heard before and I feared that one of us might die." He (Abdullaah Ibn Unays) went on: "I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: ❝Allaah will gather His slaves, Uraah (naked), Ghurlaa (uncircumcised), Buhma (without anything).❞ We asked: "What is meant by Buhma (without anything)?" The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝They will have nothing with them.❞ (The Prophet went on,) ❝They will be called by a voice that is heard from afar, saying: {I am the King. None of the people of Paradise will enter Paradise while someone from the people of the Fire is seeking him for an injustice he did to him. And none of the people of the Fire will enter the Fire while someone from the people of Paradise is seeking him for an injustice he did to him.}❞ I asked: "How (will a person compensate for the injustice) while we will come to Allaah naked and without any worldly goods?" He ﷺ said: ❝Through (the exchange of) good deeds and bad deeds.❞

Abu Hurairah narrated that Allaah's Messenger ﷺ said: ❝Do you know who is a bankrupt?❞ They (the Companions) said: "The bankrupt amongst us is he who has neither dirham with him nor wealth." He ﷺ said: ❝The real bankrupt of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with Salaah (prayers), Siyaam (Fasting), and Zakaah (charity) but (he would find himself bankrupt on that day as he would have exhausted his good deeds) because he hurled abuses upon others, brought calumny against others, unlawfully devoured the wealth of others, shed the blood of others, and beat others; so his good deeds would be credited to the account of those (who suffered at his hand). If his good deeds fall short of clearing the account, then their sins would be entered into his account and he would be thrown into the (Hell) Fire.❞

📑 While many Sufees consider that doing Dhikr is from the actions of the heart and not the tongue. So their fingers will be moving with the "prayer" beads while they are having a conversation with some other person.

💠 Never Take Things For Granted!

🌟 QUOTE:
❝They say: “You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.”
But the truth is: “You knew exactly what you had. You just didn’t think you’d lose it…”❞

🌴🌴🌴

🌟 The Pain Of Moving On After Getting Used To A Comfortable Life/Place/Situation:

The comforts in life come in different shapes and sizes. People love having luxurious homes, comfortable cars, lots of wealth, beautiful wives and children, big farms, etc. As Allaah تعالى mentioned:

{Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful horses, cattle, and well-tilled land. This is the pleasure of the present world's life; but Allaah has the excellent return (Paradise with flowing rivers, etc.) with Him.} [1]

But the thing is that not only did our hearts get attached to the comforts of this life, rather, we also got comfortable with sins. And every sin, if not repented, comes with a price, and now we are paying the price... loss of lives, health, jobs, and wealth, the ever-increasing expenses, the insecurity about what the future holds, the uncertainty of the next move, and the indecisiveness about the next step.

In this life, the trials are of many types. Sometimes, Allaah تعالى tests someone by giving it to them, at other times He تعالى tests them by withholding it from them, and for some others, He تعالى tests them by taking it away from them.

There is the pain of not having something, and then there is the pain of losing something. One of the hardest tests are those that come after the hearts are attached to someone or something. There are some situations mentioned in the Qur’aan that one cannot truly understand or feel the full effect until they are put into a similar situation.

The story of Ibraaheem عليه السلام having the Imaan to sacrifice Ismaa`eel عليه السلام will have more of an effect on a person after he has a child than before he had a child.

Similarly, the anxiety of the mother of Moosaa عليه السلام for the safety of her son can be felt more after having our own child facing some imminent danger.

A lot of people realize the sacrifices that their parents made for them only after reaching the age of forty (40) years and after having children of their own. As Allaah تعالى said:

{And We have enjoined on man to be dutiful and kind to his parents. His mother carries him with hardship and she brings him forth with hardship, and the bearing of him, and the weaning of him is thirty months, till when he attains full strength and reaches (the age of) forty years, he says: “My Lord! Grant me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds, such as please You, and make my off-spring righteous and good. Truly, I have turned to You in repentance, and truly, I am one of the Muslims (submitting to Your Will).”} [2]

🌟 The More The Love, The Greater The Test:

Concerning the saying of Allaah

🤲 What to do when a calamity befalls a Muslim?

💠 From the Qur’aan:

1️⃣

{And seek (Allaah’s) help through patience and al-Salaah (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for al-Khaashioon [i.e. the true believers in Allaah - those who obey Allaah with full submission, fear much from His Punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise, etc.) and in His Warnings (Hell, etc.)]. (They are those) who are certain that they are going to meet their Lord, and that unto Him they are going to return.}
📚[Surah al-Baqarah (2): 45-46]

2️⃣

{O you who Believe! Seek help in patience and al-Salaah (the prayer). Truly! Allaah is with al-Saabireen (the patient ones, etc.)}
📚[Surah al-Baqarah (2): 153]

3️⃣

{You shall certainly be tried and tested in your wealth and properties and in your personal selves, and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Scripture before you (Jews and Christians) and from those Mushrikeen (who ascribe partners to Allaah), but if you persevere patiently, and become al-Muttaqoon (the pious) then verily, that will be a determining factor in all affairs, and that is from the great matters, [which you must hold on with all your efforts].}
📚[Surah aal-
Imraan (3): 186]

🌴🌴🌴

💠Hadeeth:

1️⃣
Whenever Allaah's Messenger ﷺ intended to invoke evil upon somebody or invoke good upon somebody, he used to invoke (Allaah) after rising up from bowing (in the prayer); i.e. after saying: “Sami Allaahu liman hamidah, Rabbanaa lakal-hamd (Allaah hears him who sends his praises to Him, all praise is for You, O our Lord!” He ﷺ would say: “O Allaah! Save al-Waleed bin al-Waleed and Salamah bin Hishaam, and Ayyaash bin Abu Rabeeah. O Allah! Send Your punishment on Mudar (tribe) and strike them with years of (drought) like the years (of drought) of (Prophet) Yusuf.” The Prophet ﷺ used to say in a loud voice, and he also used to say in some of his Fajr prayers: “O Allaah! Curse so-and-so and so-and-so.” naming some of the Arab tribes.
📚[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree]

2️⃣
Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه said: For one month, the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ recited Qunoot in prayer, after (rising from) Rukoo and after saying: “Allaah listened to him who praised Him,” and he ﷺ said in Qunoot: “O Allaah! Rescue al-Waleed Ibn al-Waleed; O Allaah! rescue Salamah Ibn Hishaam; O Allaah! Rescue Ayyaash Ibn Abu Rabeeah; O Allaah! rescue the helpless amongst the Muslims; O Allaah! trample Mudar severely; O Allaah! cause them a famine like that (which was caused at the time) of (Prophet) Yusuf.”
📚[Saheeh Muslim]

3️⃣
Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said al-Qunoot for one month after the posture of Bowing, invoking evil upon some
Arab tribes.
📚[Saheehain]

4️⃣
The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ recited the supplication (Qunoot) daily for a month in Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and Fajr prayers. When he ﷺ said: “Allaah listens to him who praises Him” in the last Rakah, invoking a curse on some clans of Banoo Sulaym, Ri`l, Dhakwaan and Usayyah; and those who were standing behind him said: Aameen.
📚[Sunan Abu Dawood (1443), and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

💠Conclusion:
The Prophet ﷺ offered supplication at times of calamity on a number of occasions, and his supplication was appropriate to the calamity for which he was praying Qunoot.

🔥How our false desires keep us away from enjoying the true pleasures:

🎓Ibn al-Qayyim {rahimahullaah} said:

When a person says (in the Salaah):
{الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ}
He should pause for a moment and wait for the response from his Lord to him, when He تعالى says:
❝My servant has praised Me.❞*

🌴🌴🌴

And when he says:
{الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ}
He should wait for His response, when He تعالى says:
❝My servant has lauded Me.❞*

🌴🌴🌴

And when he says:
{مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ}
Then he should wait for the response:
❝My servant has Glorified Me.❞*

🌴🌴🌴

What a source of delight for the heart, comfort for the eyes and joy for the soul because of the saying of his Lord to him: ❝My servant❞ three times.

By Allaah! Had it not been that the hearts were covered by the smoke of lusts and the fog of desires, the hearts would have been overjoyed and well pleased because of the saying of their Lord and Originator to them:
❝My servant has praised Me; My servant has lauded Me; My servant has Glorified Me.❞

💢💢💢

[The Salaah and the rulings pertaining to those who abandon it (1/142)]

Between Hot and Cold:

🌟USING COLD WATER FOR DRINKING AND AS CURE🌟

As a cure to Ayyoob’s عليه السلام sickness, Allaah تعالى said to him:

❝{“Strike the ground with your foot: This is a spring of water to wash in, cool and a (refreshing) drink.”}❞
📚 [Surah al-Saad (38): 41]

💢💢💢

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
❝Fever is from the (intense) heat of the Hell-Fire, so cool it with water.❞
📚 [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (3261, 3262, 3263, 3264, 5723, 5724, 5725, 5726) and Saheeh Muslim (5476, 5477, 5478, 5479, 5480, 5482, 5484, 5485)]

💥 [As Ibn al-Qayyim said, this is particularly for the fever which is caused due to sunstroke]

🌴🌴🌴

🌟PREFERABLE NOT TO EAT WHILE THE FOOD IS INTENSELY HOT🌟

It has been authentically reported from Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that he said: ❝One should not eat the food until its steam goes away.❞
📚 [Sunan al-Baihaqee and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (1/748)]

💢💢💢

Whenever Asmaa’ bint Abu Bakr رضي الله عنها prepared food, she used to cover it with something till its boil went away (and it had cooled down a bit), and she used to say: I heard the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم saying: ❝It is for greater blessing.❞
📚 [Saheeh Ibn Hibaan and Mustadrak of al-Haakim and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (392, 659)]

💥[One can eat hot food after the steam has stopped coming out]

🌴🌴🌴

🌟PREFERABLE TO DELAY THE DHUHR SALAAH WHEN IT IS INTENSELY HOT🌟

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
❝Refrain from praying (Dhuhr - the noon prayer) till the extreme heat passes away, for the Intensity of heat is from the exhalation of Hell.❞
📚 [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (533, 535, 536, 538, 539, 629, 3258, 3259) and Saheeh Muslim (1282, 1284, 1285, 1287, 1288, 1289, 1290, 1291)]

💥[This will be applied only when a person is praying outside where there is no shade and making Sujood on the ground becomes difficult. But our Masaajid now are fully ventilated and have rugs/carpets which protect us from the heat.]

💠 When the Qadr of Allaah takes place (i.e. when a calamity befalls), the sight is blinded and the caution is thrown to the wind.

➡️ If Allaah تعالى has written for a thing to happen, will it happen or not happen?

It will happen!

Irrespective of how much one tries and whatever he does, and irrespective of how rich he is and how much he spends to avert it, he cannot avert the Qadr of Allaah, it is impossible!

Look at the story of Moosaa عليه السلام and Firaoun. Some of the fortunetellers or those who saw the dream approached Firaoun and said to him that your destruction will be at the hands of the child from Banee Israaeel.

Regarding dreams there are two occurrences, either it is false and it will not harm you, or it is true and it will happen no matter what you do.

So Firaoun, his intelligence deceived him and he started killing all the male infants from the tribes of Banee Israaeel so that the one who will be the reason for his destruction is killed and the threat eliminated.

But that child (Moosaa عليه السلام) was born, and was nurtured and raised in the house of the one who tried to kill him - Fir
aoun; and he (Firaoun) spent on him from his wealth, and let him live in his palace.

Then when Moosaa عليه السلام grew up, he went to Madyan and stayed there for as long as Allaah Willed him to stay there. Then he returned to Egypt. So, the reason for the destruction of Fir
aoun was at the hands of whom?! At the hands of the same child whom he had tried to kill.

Nothing can avert the Qadr of Allaah.

There are things which Allaah plants deeply in a person’s heart and that person cannot remove it except by doing it.

When Moosaa عليه السلام along with the Banee Israaeel left the land of Egypt, where was Firaoun? He was in Egypt, the land which he ruled, and those in Egypt used to worship him. The best for him was to let Moosaa عليه السلام go away, as he was already leaving, and Firaoun would have his kingdom for himself, and he would live therein, and the people to worship him.

Irrespective of all this, something lingered in his heart. So, he and those who were with him and his army were made to leave their land and chase Moosaa عليه السلام. As Allaah تعالى said:

{So We removed them from gardens and springs; and treasures and honorable station...}
📚 [Surah al-Shuaraa (26): 57-58]

Allaah تعالى did not sent Angels to take Fir
aoun and his people by their hands and made them to come out of their houses. Rather, Allaah instilled the desire in the heart of Firaoun and those who were with him and made it easy for them to go on the chase for Moosaa عليه السلام and the Banee Israaeel. So, they did not go out to benefit themselves, but they went out to their own destruction and death.

Similarly, when Allaah wishes good for his slave, He تعالى instills love in his heart to do good.

Sometimes, you see a person is more desirous than you to do good, even though you are stronger than him physically. The question is not about: “from where he got this strength?” Rather, the question is: “from where did he get this desire to do good?”

Allaah creates the desires in the hearts of His slaves and assists them in doing good, when He تعالى knows the sincerity of their intentions, and truthfulness of their faith.

🌴🌴🌴

📑 Note:
Abu Hurairah reported: The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: “A strong believer is better and dearer to Allaah than a weak one, and both are good. Adhere to that which is beneficial for you. Keep asking Allaah for help and do not refrain from it. If you are afflicted in any way, do not say: “If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such and such”, but say only:

قَدَّرَ اللَّهُ وَمَا شَاءَ فَعَلَ

Qaddara-llaahu, wa maa shaa’ fa
l

(It is the decree of Allah and what He wills He does)

The word 'if' opens the gates of satanic thoughts.”

🔥 Acting upon Bidah is like eating bad food:

بـسـم الله والحـمـد لله والـصلاة والـسـلام عــلى رسـول الله، وبـعـد

🎓Shaikh al-Islaam, Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:
“The Legislated matters (Sharee
ah) are the nourishments of the hearts. So, whenever the hearts are nourished upon Bidah, there is no space left for the Sunnah. Its similarity is like a person being nourished upon bad food (which is neither good in taste nor beneficial for the body).”
📚 [Iqtidhaa’ Siraat al-Mustaqeem (2/104)]

📑 And the person who acts upon a Bid
ah will only get tired, with no reward for his efforts. As the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whosoever does an action which we have not commanded then it will be rejected."

⚡️The Trials Through Good And Evil:
(Or The Trials Through Prosperity And Poverty)

Allaah سبحانه وتعالى said:

{Everyone is going to taste death, and We shall test you with evil and with good by way of trial. And to Us you will be returned}
📚[Surah al-Anbiyaa (21): 35]

🎓Ibn Rajab رحمه الله commented, saying:

"Allaah تعالى has made everything that afflicts a person – either good or bad – a Fitnah (trial), meaning it is a calamity by which everyone will be put to test.

If he is provided with (worldly) goods, it is a must that he be grateful (to Allaah).

And if he is afflicted with harm, then it is a must that he be patient.

The trial through good times is more severe than the trial through adversity.

`Abdul Rahmaan Ibn Auf رضي الله عنه said: ❝We were tested along with the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ by adversity, so we were patient, then we were tested after him with prosperity, but we were not patient.❞
📚[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2464) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Some of them said: “When afflicted with harm and calamities, both the pious and wicked can endure them with patience, but no one can be patient during the trials through good times except for the one who is true (in Faith).”"

📝 NOTES:

A burden that one bears is also called a trial due to several factors:

1️⃣ The burden – all of it – is hard on the body, physically and psychologically. In this sense, it is a test of a person’s physical and mental strength.

2️⃣ It is an examination of one’s Faith, firmness and determination, and truthfulness, as Allaah تعالى said:
وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَعْلَمَ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ مِنكُمْ وَالصَّابِرِينَ وَنَبْلُوَ أَخْبَارَكُمْ
{And We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of Allaah] and (make evident those who are) the patient ones, and We will test your affairs (i.e. who is a liar and who is truthful)}
📚[Surah Muhammad (47):31]

3️⃣ Sometimes Allaah تعالى tests His slaves with ease and prosperity so that they should be grateful to Allaah and thank Him for His favors, and other times He تعالى tests them with adversities and hardships so that they should be patient. So, the ordeals and favors are all trials. During difficulties, a person is required to have patience; and during good times a person is required to show his appreciation to Allaah for it through obedience.

As the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said:
❝How wonderful is the case of a believer; for all his affairs are good for him, and this applies only to a believer. If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him; if something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for him.❞
📚[Saheeh Muslim (7138), Kitaab al-Zuhd]

4️⃣ Fulfilling the rights of Allaah through patience during hardship is easier than fulfilling the rights of Allaah through gratitude and appreciation during times of prosperity. This is why receiving favors is a more severe trial of the two.

5️⃣ Allaah تعالى has repeated this many times in the Qur’aan, every time a person faces hardship, he calls upon Allaah sincerely, standing or sitting or lying down. But the moment his difficulties are removed by Allaah, he becomes disobedient, ungrateful and arrogant:
{And when harm touches man, he invokes Us, lying down on his side, or sitting or standing. But when We have removed his harm from him, he passes on his way as if he had never invoked Us for a harm that touched him! Thus it seems fair to the transgressors that which they used to do.}
📚[Surah Yunus (10):12]

🌟 Forbiddance of hanging amulets, strings or beads as a means of protection 🌟

Even in this age we still find people hanging black or red threads and other amulets around themselves and their children in order to protect them from the evil eye and the evil devil…

{And most of them believe not in Allaah except that they attribute partners unto Him.} 📚 [Surah Yusuf (12): 106]

💢 💢 💢

Imaam Ibn Katheer reported in his Tafseer: Hammad bin Salamah narrated that Aasim bin Abi An-Najood said that Urwah said: ❝Hudhaifah رضي الله عنه visited an ill man and saw a string tied around his arm, so he ripped it off while reciting: {And most of them believe not in Allaah except that they attribute partners unto Him}.❞ 📚 [Tafseer Ibn Katheer]

💢 💢 💢

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ❝Verily, Ar-Ruqa [1], At-Tamaa’im [2], and At-Tiwalah [3] are all Shirk.❞ 📚 [Mustadrak al-Haakim (7505) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (2972).

🔥 NOTE for the students of knowledge: The Hadeeth with a longer narration is also mentioned in Sunan Abu Dawood (3883) and Sunan Ibn Maajah (3530) with the discussion between Ibn Mas`ood and his wife رضي الله عنهما on how Shaitaan tricks the people into committing Shirk. But the Chain of the narration mentioned in these two books are weak. Shaikh al-Albaanee had initially authenticated this narration in al-Saheehah (331), but then he retracted and graded it as Weak. See the discussion under Hadeeth (2972) in al-Saheehah]

🌴 🌴 🌴

📑 Shaikh al-Albaanee explained the meaning of these words:

🚩 Ar-Ruqa: Incantations containing Shirk, or by seeking help from the Jinn, or its meaning is unintelligible and obscure, like writing cryptically or with words which have no meaning like: (يا كبيج).

🚩 Tameemah: Amulets that are worn. Its origin is the beads which the Arabs used to hang on the heads of (small) children to protect them from the evil eye. The meaning of this is vast and it includes everything which is worn or hanged as protection. Example: hanging horseshoe on the entrance door or inside the house; or hanging amulet (of the “eye”) in the cars, or amulets containing Aayaat from the Qur’aan which the people hang around themselves or their children etc.

🚩 At-Tiwalah: Spells that make people fall in love, or make the woman love her husband etc.

After receiving guidance, the best supplication one can make is asking Allaah for firmness upon the Deen. For Ibraaheem عليه السلام had supplicated, saying:

وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هَـٰذَا الْبَلَدَ آمِنًا وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَن نَّعْبُدَ الْأَصْنَامَ

{And (remember) when Ibraaheem said: “O my Lord! Make this city (Makkah) one of peace and security, and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.”} [Surah Ibraaheem (14): 35]

Ibraaheem عليه السلام feared for himself from worshiping the idols, even though he was the one who broke the idols and shattered them with his own hands, because of which he suffered the punishment and humiliation at the hands of his people, all this for the sake of Allaah, yet he is supplicating:

وَاجْنُبْنِى وَبَنِىَّ أَن نَّعْبُدَ الاٌّصْنَام

{(O Allaah!) …and keep me and my sons away from worshiping idols} [Surah Ibraaheem (14): 35]

He did not say: “I am now saved”. Rather, he requested Allaah to protect him and his sons from worshiping the idols. A man should fear his Lord at all times. How many guided people have gone astray? And how many people have deviated from the Straight Path? How many Believers have become Kaafir and apostates? And how many deviants have been guided by Allaah? And how many Kuffaar have become Muslims? Verily, the matter is in the Hands of Allaah, He guides whom He Wills.
