Multiple French government websites have gone offline in a denial of service (DDoS) attack believed to be linked to a Russian hacker group, according to multiple reports.
The affected websites included the Administrative Court of Paris, the French Health Department’s ansm.sante.fr site, and the Court of Cassation’s page.
Initial reports from Entropia Intel said the attacks are believed to be a response to the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France on Aug. 24.

Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov has been arrested in France and placed in custody by agents of France's National Anti-Fraud Office, according to a report from reputable French news site TF1.
Durov was reportedly arrested after traveling with a woman and his bodyguard from Azerbaijan to Paris's Le Bourget airport, which exclusively services private jets. Durov was the subject of a search warrant from OFMIN, an investigative agency which combats child sexual exploitation in France, based on a preliminary investigation, according to the report.

MakerDAO has rebranded to "Sky"
The protocol will also introduce new versions of its $5 billion stablecoin (DAI) and governance token (MKR), called the USDS stablecoin and the SKY governance token.
DAI and MKR will stay in circulation unchanged, with the new tokens existing in parallel. Token holders will be able to exchange DAI tokens 1:1 for USDS, while each MKR token can be swapped for 28,000 SKY tokens.
The new tokens will be issued on Sept. 18, and holders can voluntarily choose to keep the old tokens or exchange for the new ones.

The French prosecutor's office issued an official press release in connection with the detention of Pavel Durov.
The case is being investigated under 12 articles, including refusal to provide information to the authorities, complicity in possession of child pornography and complicity in drug trafficking.
Durov is currently being questioned by investigators, and his detention was extended by a judge to 96 hours (until August 28).
