Kraken has again denied the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's allegations and demanded a jury trial to defend its position in the lawsuit, according to a Thursday court filing.
In November 2023, The SEC charged Payward Inc. and Payward Ventures Inc., the companies behind Kraken, with operating the digital asset platform as an unregistered securities exchange, broker, dealer, and clearing agency. The regulator listed SOL, ADA, ALGO, ATOM, FIL, FLOW, ICP, MANA, MATIC, NEAR and OMG tokens as unregistered securities.

Starknet token holders voted to implement staking on the layer-2 network.
The vote, which went live on Tuesday, passed with overwhelming support, but only 0.08% of eligible voters holding Starknet’s native token, STRK, participated.
The new mechanism on Starknet means that anyone holding more than 20,000 STRK will be able to stake on the network, from the fourth quarter of this year.

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that eToro USA LLC has agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle charges that it operated an unregistered broker and unregistered clearing agency in connection with its trading platform that facilitated buying and selling certain crypto assets as securities.
eToro has agreed to cease and desist from violating the applicable federal securities laws and will make only a limited set of crypto assets available for trading.
