Why would Sirius suggest switching to Peter as secret keeper?
Ok hear me out before you come for my throat. So the Order knew there was a leak feeding Voldemort information. Sirius says so in POA. So some people suspected lupin but Sirius would know he himself isn’t he even tells Harry “I would’ve died before i betrayed them.” if you can’t fully trust anyone else in the order why suggest the switch?

Do you think Vernon would have signed the Hogsmeade permission form?
Had Aunt Marge not blow up, obviously.
It's an interesting chapter. We get glimpses of Vernon recognizing that Marge treats Harry poorly. There's a couple of times where she says something nasty and he hurries up and changes the subject, or he glances at Harry nervously. Like clearly he sees Marge is being the problem, not Harry.
It would be an interesting conversation if Harry was able to keep his cool the whole week. Would he say something like, "Alright boy, you actually did pretty good so I'll sign that ruddy form of yours." Or would he try being a jerk like he normally is? He might try using that exploding glass (Marge says she must have gripped it too tight) to not sign it.
Personally I think he would begrudgingly sign. Not to be nice to Harry of course but I kind of feel like Vernon is a man of his word. He's a business dude after all, so a deal is a deal. He might understand that going back on his word means he'll never control Harry again.

Voldemorts appearance
So we know voldemort was more snakelike after his ”rebirth” in GoF, but what did he look like before like when he offed harrys parents?
In CoS he still looks like an ordinary human, so when did he start to change and again, what did he look like during the time he offed James and Lily?

Is "Longbottom" supposed to be a funny last name? Question for native English speakers
So, I had an argument with a certain guy, both of us are not native English speakers. I insist that "Longbottom" is supposed to be a funny and lame surname, to enhance Neville's initial image as a fat loser kid, and it could be roughly translated as "big ass". But my opponent insists that it has some other, non-funny meaning, and it shouldn't sound funny to the English people.
I agree that it may indeed have some other, proper meaning, but I'm pretty sure that most English speakers will still initially see "Longbottom" as "big ass" or something like that, and the "proper" meaning will come to their head much later.
So, which one of us is right?

The "Sirius Black was and remains to this day, Harry Potter's godfather" scene is one of the best in the movies
While Harry is under the invisibility cloak, it shows how the respectful adults like McGonnogal and minister Fudge act like true distressed adults.

If the Dursleys decided to immigrate to America to escape the wizards, would Harry have gotten a letter to Ilvermorny?
Let’s say when Harry was 8 or 9 Petunia remembered when Lily got her letter, and they flee across the ocean. I assume Ilvermorny also had a means of detecting young witches and wizards. Do you think he would have received a letter?
Though I imagine Dumbledore would insist on Harry going to Hogwarts, prophecy and all dictates he is needed in Britain to defeat Voldemort.

In which of the life threatening moments do you think Harry must've been comparatively more scared?
Across all seven books, I mean
(P.S. There's no doubt that Harry shows a lot of bravery throughout the series and that's one of his strongest points. In fact, facing situations despite being scared is true bravery. So I'm in no way implying that he wasn't brave)

A realisation about what Dumbledore saw in the Mirror of Erised
When Harry asks Dumbledore what he sees in the Mirror, he says he sees himself holding a pair of socks, but it’s generally implied that he really saw Ariana alive and his family happy and healthy. He wanted to be free of the guilt of being responsible for her death, and spent his whole life wondering if he had cast the killing blow on his own sister.
But I’ve realised there’s actually a lot of symbolism in him saying he sees himself holding socks. Only a book later in CoS, socks become a huge symbol of freedom when Harry frees Dobby with a sock and Dobby becomes obsessed with collecting them. In a sense, Dumbledore holding a pair of socks would symbolise that he is free of Ariana’s death, something he never managed to achieve… Harry said in DH, “He was never free.” Dumbledore was imprisoned by his own choices, and he never got the ‘sock’ that was his deepest desire like Dobby did.
I don’t really think this was intentional by Rowling, but I can totally imagine that this is what Dumbledore meant when he said that to Harry. It’s such a cool link in any case :) What do you guys think?

James & Sirius
It's funny that Hagrid compared James and Sirius to Fred and George. McGonagall used to say they were the most unruly students in the history of Hogwarts. Even though she didn't even know half of what they did!
James and Sirius were unofficial Animagus. They spent five years transforming into an animal, one of the most difficult magical processes, with only seven people in UK mastering it. They went to Hogsmeade every month in disguise, knew all the ins and outs of the castle, and drew a map that revealed the movements of every person in the castle. They used mirrors to communicate with each other while in detention. James had an invisibility cloak, and Sirius had a knife that could open any door!
McGonagall called them the most unruly, even though she didn't know all that. The most she could imagine was that they were out of bed at night. I think Fred and George were angels in comparison.

Are you more in love with the Universe or the Characters?
The more I re-listen to the audio books the more I realize I’m way more attached to the universe, Hogwarts and the magical world itself than the main characters themselves.

Lupin and Tonks' relationship came out of nowhere and is kind of weird
I have to be honest, not only did it have ZERO buildup on the page before it was announced, but the ages (38 and 24) are kinda weird too when there's no in-text explanation given for why they like each other. Age gaps can work but it feels abrupt and confusing when there's no preexisting chemistry.
They probably hadn't known each other for more than a year or two (the Order was re-formed after the end of Goblet of Fire, so they had only just started working together). I can't see a very young newly-graduated Auror in her early 20s spending a lot of time with a nearly 40yo guy who is a known werewolf she's got no connections to before joining the Order. Then in HBP, Tonks is already so deeply in love to the point that her Patronus changes??
In Book 5, they are both present when picking up Harry as part of the Advance Guard, and they both are seen at Grimmauld Place, but have almost no interactions with each other at all. There's no hint of compatibility, chemistry, even camaraderie. Even at the end of Book 5, when Moody threatens Vernon at the train station and Tonks is with him, Lupin isn't even there. In fact, it's specifically said that Lupin has been spending most of his time "underground" with other werewolves. He wasn't exactly around Tonks much since they both joined the order. So they had NO connection or relationship other than being in the same anti-Voldemort group.
Timeskip only 2-3 months later, and suddenly Tonks is acting different, emotionally distant/disraught about Lupin not wanting to be with her, to the point her Patronus changes?! Where did that deep emotional connection come from? What do they have in common (a rebellious, social, boisterous young woman and a reclusive, rule-following, reserved middle aged guy)? Not saying it's impossible, but there's nothing on the page about it. I think the only time we even see them have a conversation after getting together is when Lupin is getting mad at Tonks for taking risks with the Seven Potters thing.
So then, when it's mentioned that they both died in the final battle, it... didn't really hit me the way it would have if they'd just stayed 2 separate characters who weren't together? It felt like both of them lost most of their interesting characterization after getting together - IIRC, for TDH, every scene they're in (outside of Tonks crying over Mad-Eye) is directly related to talking about their relationship as the main focus/piece of information brought up about their characters.
I know Harry isn't present for a lot of it, but I'm talking about "writing in a way that the reader feels characters are consistent and understandable" - even just one or two conversations between Lupin and Tonks in OOtP would have done SO much for the eventual relationship. Hagrid could have found out he was in love with Rita Skeeter offscreen and Harry, as a student, wouldn't have been able to see any of the context for that either - still would be really out of nowhere from a writing perspective, whether or not something could have happened offscreen to explain the whole situation.

I remeber trying to watch them and being so scared of the dementors, spiders, and basilisk that I never tried to watch them again until I was older. It’s a shame because it also put me off from reading the books when I was reading pretty much everything else like Percy Jackson

Gilderoy Lockhart vs. Morfin Gaunt.
I thought this would be funny to post, given how they are both despicable characters.
I know they lived in different eras, this post is meant to be some grim fun.
Assuming they met in a wooded area between space and time (likely due to a malfunctioning time turner that Lockhart was trying to "improve") how would they interact with each other?
Morfin is in his "prime", how he was after being released from Azkaban after the incident with Merope Gaunt and Bob Ogden. He has his signature knife and his wand.
Lockhart is in his prime, before he got his memory wiped from his malfunctioning Memory Charm. He has his wand.
Also, who would win in a duel?

Honestly now that I can think about it James & Lily being Head Boy and Head Girl together is unrealistic
So, this isn't a big deal, and it doesn't hurt the story in the long run. However, now that I think about it, James being Head Boy alongside Lily as Head Girl seems unrealistic to me.
For Lily, I 100% buy it. But James? I mean, he got his act together in his sixth year. But honestly, if I were the one making the appointments, it still wouldn't be enough for me because I'd be thinking about other students who set a better example for like longer than a year lol. Ultimately, I think what gave James the edge over the other options was his popularity and the other students looking up to him, not just in Gryffindor.
Also, I think if one can avoid it, I wouldn't have both HB and HG from the same house. Post-series Teddy Lupin was Head Boy (ironic given how Tonks wasn't considered responsible enough to be a prefect lol), so if I were Headmistress, I'd look towards Slytherin first for candidates of HG because I do think they have qualities which work well together with Hufflepuff in the right circumstances.

Sybill Trelawney got every prediction she made right.
I'm reading the books again and one thing I noticed is that she got every prediction she made right, especially about Harry. And even detected the fragment of Voldemort's soul living in Harry. If Harry and Ron were more diligent, they would have noticed many dangers and events that were about to happen throughout the story.
Even the prophecies that the two "create" actually end up happening.
There's a part in Half-Blood Prince where Harry sees her shuffling a tarot deck, and she correctly predicts that there's a conflicted young man and an impending death. She was clearly seeing the conflict Draco was going through and Dumbledore's death. As someone who really enjoys tarot, I recognized it immediately when she talked about the cards.
She certainly exaggerated in certain points and behavior, but she got all her predictions right.

Let's be real, the real Hogwarts acceptance letter was the first book. What's a small detail from the book that still feels magical to you?
For me, it was Professor Snape's speech: “I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death...”
It was a very powerful speech. It appealed to my Slytherin side. It reflected the power and majesty of magic. It was a moment that took us out of the real world, into a magical world and showed us why we love it.
It was also as inviting as a Hogwarts acceptance letter. But not for everyone, of course. Professor Snape's usual attitude, combined with what he said before and after the quote, made it clear that this invitation was for very special people. Real witches and wizards who deserved this knowledge.

Does Harry idolising Dumbledore mean that Harry is too hard on Dumbledore when he shows his imperfections?
I think he had Dumbledore on such a pedestal, it is hard for him initially understand Dumbledore is a flawed man. I think we see this in parts of book 5 and 7. Yet he accepts this in the end and I think has a fee-per appreciation for him. I wouldn’t say he is too hard as he often doesn’t have all the information.

I would love to see the Lupin's obstacle course DADA exam scene and other exam scenes in the books in the new series
Honestly, Lupin's exam scene where third years had to go through the obstacle course of dark creatures is something I would love to see! From Ron's confusion at the Hinkypunk to Hermione's fear being Professor McGonagall telling her she failed her exams, not only is it hilarious but it's such an innovative and great way to assess students' learning!
Other scenes include the Apparition test that Ron and Hermione take, not to mention the Divination test during the OWLs where Ron described the tester's reflection!
I hope the new series shows us more of the school life at Hogwarts, to the degree that it can.
