Do you sign youth players you know won't ever make first team?
I was just wondering basically because I only really tend to sign players who will hit top end and will eventually be part of my first team or make me a lot of money by selling them. I've never really considered signing more than 4 or 5 a season max, sometimes as little as 1 or 2, really depending on how good the intake is.
Edit: Sorry, I meant sign players to contracts from your youth intake

Is there a Football Games that focusses on the economic side?
I'm not even sure if my post belongs in this subreddit, but here we go:
As a fan of football manager and being an economics student I am asking myself if there is a football game that focusses on the financial and economical side of a football club.
Sure I remember the old EA Football Manager games, but I also remember them as not really being good in the long run.

Is buying free agents just to flip them a year later a viable income strategy?
I was going through some old fifa games and saves with my cousin and I came across one save where I’d sign a few players on pre contracts or in free agency, keep them around til January and flip them to meet whatever ridiculous financial objective was set for me. In the premier league or any higher reputation league players are more valuable (at least in the estimated transfer value) so could you not just have a few players that are just there to flip if you’re a newly promoted side or just a team with less money in a big league?

Anyone else not interested in playing after finding out most attributes don't matter?
My hours in FM have been very low after finding out about the attribute testing in fm arena/the posts on reddit/si games forums/youtube videos last year.
Basically, most of the attributes don't really do anything. I don't remember exactly what attributes were meaningful but at least all physicals, dribbling and a few others only seemed to really matter.
I really like possession tactics, so finding out that passing, technique and some key mental stats having almost no impact was pretty upsetting.
Sadly, I have no reason to think that the tests are wrong. Especially since people were doing their own tests to confirm. Also from the saves I started after finding out, I was able to confirm pretty easily how focusing on those certain attributes I was able to get tremendous success really fast.
I really hope they fix this issue for the next version of football manager.

How do you decide what your playstyle is?
Whenever I start with a new team, especially a bigger team, I always think I should play possession football for some reason. How do you decide what style of football to play?

Starting A New Save In 2025
My interest in FM has drifted the last few years. My last real go was 2022 where I took Groningen to a dominant treble. I loved it. 2023 and 2024 I just didnt have that drive.
But here I am now in 2025 with that itch again to squeeze in some time before the (hopefully) new one is out.
I am looking at a Hibs save to break Celtic and Rangers dominance but I am struggling with the fact that a new save is 2 years behind now. I guess I am a stickler for having things 'proper' and while there are databases, i know the dates still are strange. Am I just overthinking this or anyone else similar? I am sure once I am a season in my mindset will change.
I was considering simming two years to get to now but then that seems silly too.
Im sure it is me just overthinking and should write my own story but keen to hear if anyone else has this issue and how they would go about setting up a game now!
My only other thought was going out of Europe to somewhere like Japan where i have basically no knowledge of whats happened in the last couple years. But that is really new for someone getting back into the game. Hibs seems a good challenge but not too overwhelming.

In a 2-man strike partnership, do you put your strikers on the side of their preferred foot or the opposite?
I guess this is more of a “I want to know what the general consensus is” rather than a question.
I’ve been debating myself on this recently. On one hand, if I put them on their preferred foot’s side, they’ll have an easier time taking shots from crosses and cutbacks, while on the other, it will be easier for them to cut in from the half spaces and shoot if they’re on the opposite side.

Name a player that never signed for you no matter how hard you tried
I considered him a top target, I told my captain to convince him, I sent scouts. I did this over 3 seasons when his contract would come up and he never did.
Guido Rodriguez in my Roma save. I tried to get him from Betis and he chose Real Madrid, then his contract came up with Madrid and he signed a new one.
