Bitcoin's SHA256 encryption algorithm is still secure despite claims by Chinese researchers that RSA encryption can be broken using existing quantum computers.
A group of 24 Chinese researchers said they could read a 48-bit number using a 10 kb quantum computer. This can be critical to cracking the RSA encryption algorithm that underpins much of Internet communications.
The RSA algorithm ensures confidentiality between parties exchanging data using public and private keys. This is a two-way function. This means that given the encrypted information and the private key, the plaintext can be determined.
The idea that quantum computing could break encryption schemes considered "unbreakable" by conventional computers was proposed by Shor in 1994.

The US Department of Justice has officially seized the shares of the popular shopping app Robinhood. And all because of the fact that it is associated with Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX. Circle has $43.4 billion in reserves, which allows it to provide 43.23 billion USDC in circulation. This is the data as of November 30, 2022. Moreover, $12.79 billion of these reserves lay in the Circle Reserve Fund.
What is a fund? Circle created its Reserve Fund on November 3rd. In less than a month, she transferred about 29.5% of the stablecoin reserves to it. Since then, USDC reserves invested in the Circle Reserve Fund have risen to about $28.6 billion, or 65%. Popular crypto analyst John Paul Koning called it a win for USDC users: “Circle is transferring some of its control of USDC reserves to an external SEC-regulated manager, ultimately making USDC more secure.”
The fund is listed with a public money market fund wholly owned by Circle and operated by BlackRock.
Where is the rest? Another $19.41 billion of USDC reserves as of Nov. 30 were in the form of treasury bills directly with Circle. As you can see, the share of USDC reserves held in treasury bills directly and through the reserve fund reached $32.2 billion, which is 75% of the total reserves.
In addition, $11.15 billion of stablecoin reserves were held in cash in US-regulated financial institutions, including:
