Preston North End v Liverpool - Pre-Season Friendly Photo by Catherine Ivill - AMA/Getty Images Man...Liverpool FC is having quite a summer. Per Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk, the Reds are planning to meet with Bayern Munich soon to discuss a sale of Luis Diaz, where the revenue will be used to pay for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké: ✅ There will be a meeting between Bayern and Liverpool for negotiations for a Transfer of Luis Díaz (28) soon❇️ The Poker is influenced by the Transfer of Hugo Ekitiké (23/Eintracht Frankfurt)❇️ Liverpool FC is preparing a mega offer of €100 Mio for Ekitiké. Should Liverpool get their desired player, they can invest the Transfer-fee of DíazAfter swiping Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen (and really Bayern Munich, too) earlier this summer, Liverpool is seeking to land another Bundesliga star. Oh, and if you wondering why FC Barcelona has not been super-active in the Diaz sweepstakes, it could be because Hansi Flick’s club has its eyes on Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford. Below, is what Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg is reporting on the situation: As exclusively revealed, Marcus #Rashford has been and remains the absolute top priority for FC Barcelona. Hansi Flick has approved Rashford days ago. As reported, Barca are pushing for a loan move, not a permanent deal. Now, the first offer is on the table:A loan with an option to buy after @TheAthleticFC. #MUFC Rashford very keen on the move. Personal terms won’t be an issue. DEAL ON. @SkySportDE If you were rooting against a Bayern Munich acquisition of Diaz, well, you are not in a good spot at the moment. The careers of Liverpool FC’s Luis Diaz and Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl could end up intertwined if the transfer move goes through. Meanwhile, is the rest of the Bundesliga sick of being bullied by Bayern Munich and is the league bleeding too much talent? Also, Paul Wanner and Lennart Karl could be in line for opportunities during the preseason...can the youngster take advantage of those chances? Finally, the father of Florian Wirtz talks through how the decision to join Liverpool played out and you can hear how HBO screwed BPW this week. VfB Stuttgart v Borussia Mönchengladbach - Bundesliga Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images This has been fun, eh? According to a report from Bild journalist Julian Agardi, Bayern Munich does not want to submit a third offer to VfB Stuttgart for Nick Woltemade. Instead, the Bavarians wants to hold a face-to-face meeting with representatives from Die Schwaben, but the VfB Stuttgart’s team of executives does not seem interested in such a summit: News Nick #Woltemade: FC #Bayern will not submit a 3rd offer to #VfB in the coming days. The Munich team wants to meet personally with the Stuttgart team before sending the next offer. The catch: VfB continues to reject such a meeting. Per Agardi and his Bild colleague Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is flummoxed by the situation: Stuttgart’s tough stance is met with incomprehension both by FC Bayern and also by Woltemade’s camp.VfB Stuttgart’s hardline stance with Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen’s bitterness toward the Bavarians have left things feeling a bit....frosty for the German Rekordmeister and the rest of the league. The real loser in this deal is Woltemade, who has a much more lucrative contract waiting for him in Bavaria and a much better situation from a sporting perspective. FC Bayern München Team Presentation Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Bayern’s academy continues to pay dividends for the senior squad. Since winning the sextuple in 2020 under Hansi Flick, Bayern Munich has struggled to compete deep into both the UEFA Champions League and DFB-Pokal. The starting XI has shown the ability to beat any team, but the lack of quality depth has been a thorn in Bayern’s side. There have been some revelations in the academy, like Jamal Musiala and Aleksandar Pavlović. Due to Musiala’s devastating injury in the FIFA Club World Cup loss to Paris-Saint Germain, Bayern has decided to hold on to a key academy prodigy this summer.According to Kicker (via @iMiaSanMia), [Hamburger SV] have expressed their interest in signing Paul Wanner. Bayern are currently not planning to loan Wanner out after Musiala’s injury, but that could change in case of new signings. If the door opens, Hamburg have made it clear that they want the player.Wanner is the most talented player on Germany’s U21 squad. Last season, the 19-year old midfielder earned big minutes on loan with Heidenheim. In May, he delivered a game-winning assist in stoppage time over Elversberg. The assist ensured that Heidenheim would remain in the top flight for the 2025/26 campaign. With no true replacement to Musiala at the number 10 position, Wanner has an invaluable chance to stake his claim to a spot in the starting XI.

Liverpool FC v Bayern Muenchen - Pre-Season Friendly Photo by Andrew Powell/Liverpool FC via Getty Images Can Bayern close their first big signing of the summer transfer window? Bayern Munich came away a clear winner of last year’s summer transfer window by securing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace for a cool €60M. Olise locked down the right wing position with 45 starts, 20 goals, and 20 assists across all competitions. This summer, Bayern is focused on finding Olise’s counterpart on the left wing. After striking out on Florian Wirtz and Nico Williams, Bayern has zeroed in on Liverpool’s 28-year old attacker, Luis Díaz.According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Díaz has already made up his mind.Luis #Diaz has not only informed Liverpool of his desire to leave, but has now also made it clear to #LFC that he would like to join FC Bayern if possible. The transfer is approved by Vincent Kompany. There is no full agreement between Bayern and Díaz yet. However, personal terms are not an issue, with a potential contract running at least until 2029. It is now up to Bayern to reach an agreement with Liverpool. If not, Díaz could still join another club. Barcelona remain interested, but would currently be unable to register him.Díaz’s team-first mentality and quick striking ability would offer Bayern another quality option. Kingsley Coman is currently the best option available but notably struggles in the final third. Serge Gnabry is past his prime and will serve as Harry Kane’s backup.Even though he is much older, Díaz would be more expensive than Michael Olise due to his value to Liverpool. Hopefully, Liverpool will grant Díaz his wish and send him to the German giants.

A-League Men Rd 10 - Adelaide United v Western Sydney Wanderers FC Photo by Mark Brake/Getty Images Much ado about nothing? After a few days of speculation, the news has gone official: Bayern Munich winger Nestory Irankunda has transferred to Watford FC. Irankunda, who never really was able to prove himself in Bavaria, leaves the club after a very uneventful tenure where it appears that the player and the club were never fully aligned on the winger’s ability and development: We are delighted to confirm the arrival of exciting forward Nestory Irankunda on a long-term permanent deal from Bayern Munich.

Thrilled to have you with us, Nestory! pic.twitter.com/49Gx3svI8D— Watford Football Club (@WatfordFC) July 18, 2025Bayern Munich issued a release on its club website regarding the move: Nestory Irankunda (February 9, 2006) is leaving FC Bayern Munich. Almost a year after his transfer from Adelaide United to Munich, the Australian international is moving to Watford FC in the English Championship. The striker has signed a long-term contract with the ambitious second-division club from northwest London.Jochen Sauer, Director of Youth Development and Campus : “Nestory has repeatedly demonstrated his great potential with our amateurs and then with GC in Zurich. With his athleticism and speed, he is a natural fit for football on the island. We had very positive and trusting discussions with Watford and are convinced that he will find the best conditions there to establish himself sustainably in European club football. We will continue to keep a close eye on him there.”Irankunda was part of the Bayern Munich amateur squad in the first half of last season. He made 15 Regionalliga appearances, scoring four goals and providing four assists. He also scored once in three Youth League matches. During the winter break, he moved to Zurich. He made 21 appearances for the Swiss record champions (1 goal/3 assists). His contract in Munich was due to run until June 2028.Irankunda initially joined Bayern Munich for a fee of €900,000 from Adelaide United, but struggled to win first team playing time. After pushing for an opportunity last season, the winger was sent on loan to Grasshopper Club Zurich where he could only manage one goal and three assists in 21 games across all competitions. Sweden v Germany: UEFA Womens EURO 2025 Group C Photo by Maja Hitij - UEFA/UEFA via Getty Images Can Germany recover from a disaster against Sweden? Germany faces France tomorrow in the quarterfinals of EURO 2025. The Germany women had a strong if not all-cylinders-firing start to the tournament, but then fell completely apart in the final group stage match against Sweden. It was the kind of heart-breaking collapse that usually means the end of a team’s run, only this time it came in a match that only impacted which side of the knockout bracket they would end up on. Could that be a blessing in disguise? The Germans have now had a full week to mull it over and reset before facing France today at 3:00 PM EDT. They’ll be counting on another strong showing from their fans in Basel, where they helped set a group stage attendance record for a non-host nation match in their contest against Denmark.“Of course, we’re hoping for a lot of German fans,” Bayern Munich winger Klara Bühl said in comments captured by Sport1. “[Against Denmark] we realized what a decisive factor it can be when you realize that a lot of people are behind you and cheering on your team. That helped us a lot in the game.”Germany coach Christian Wück also discussed the opportunity for his side to put the loss to Sweden behind them, and promised that he and his staff have found a ‘good solution’ for the challenge ahead.“It’s clear to everyone that [France] have a top-notch attacking line. They have players they can replace one-on-one, not just on the field but also on the bench. That gives them tremendous power and speed. We have to adapt to that, of course. We know we have the same strengths in our team, including in attack. It will be crucial who can control the other team’s offense. That’s why I believe we’ve found a strategy that can well reflect this variability between offense and defense,” Wück explained in comments captured via DFB.de.LineupsHow might Germany line up? How about like this, as proposed by Munich journalist Marie Schulte-Bockum on Bluesky:Wen — und wie — würdet ihr die #DFBFrauen gegen Frankreich aufstellen? Hier wäre jedenfalls meine Idee… …meine Wunsch-S11 ist dann trotz viel Kritik (von mir!) an #Wück in der vergangenen Woche doch eher konservativ ausgefallen .#Kett #Freigang #WEURO25 #VierZweiDreiEins #LetsGetIt— Marie Schulte-Bockum (@marieschubo.bsky.social) 2025-07-17T18:41:05.169ZSarai Linder has held down the left-back position so far but the Wolfsburg defender has not looked entirely convincing. At right-back, Kathrin Hendrich (Chicago Stars) was the makeshift substitute following Carlotta Wamser’s red card. Whether it’s her or Sophia Kleinherne (Eintracht Frankfurt), it would mean a more defensive presence on this flank. Might that be an opportunity to switch things up and deploy Bayern Munich’s 20-year-old Franziska Kett — a winger-turned-left-back for the national team — for some positional asymmetry? It would be a big call. Kett hasn’t played a single minute at these EUROs so far. In attacking midfield, neither Linda Dallmann (Bayern) nor Laura Freigang (Frankfurt) have fully grabbed hold of the spot. Freigang started against Sweden but was hooked at half-time for new Manchester City midfielder Sydney Lohmann after Wamser’s red card.Germany’s EURO run so farRead up on our coverage of Germany’s EURO to date:Germany 2-0 Poland: Live Thread | Match Awards | ObservationsGermany 2-1 Denmark: Live Thread | Match Awards | ObservationsSweden 4-1 Germany: Live Thread | Match Awards | ObservationsPredictionsGermany is well-rested and sure to bring the intensity against France. France have depth and power and it is hard to bet against them grinding out a result over 90 or 120 minutes. But we will predict with our hearts: Germany races out to an early two-goal lead and just about hang on. 3-2, Germany in 90’ plus stoppage time. And onto Spain!

SOCCER: JUL 05 FIFA Club World Cup Quarter-final PSG vs Bayern Munchen Photo by Rich von Biberstein/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Boey could be on his way out of Munich before the summer transfer window is over at the end of next month. Bayern Munich is currently laboring their way through the summer transfer window without having made a key signing after being able to expedite Jonathan Tah’s arrival from Bayer Leverkusen so that he could play from the start of the FIFA Club World Cup. Of course, there has also been the arrival of Tom Bischof from TSG Hoffenheim, but that move was sealed prior to this summer. From the outside looking in, question marks are being raised. Bayern lost out on Florian Wirtz to Liverpool, who also signed Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and are on the verge of signing Hugo Ekitike. By stark contrast, Bayern’s interest in Luis Diaz seems to have narrative shifts with each passing day and VfB Stuttgart is making life incredibly difficult to try to sign striker Nick Woltemade. In the defensive area of the pitch, there could also be movement in either direction for the reigning Bundesliga champions. In the last rumbling out of the rumor mill, Bayern reportedly will not stand in the way of right back Sacha Boey leaving the club this summer, as per Bild and SportBild’s Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia). The Frenchman had a window of opportunity at the Club World Cup given the long-term injuries to Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, and Kim Min-jae, as well as Dayot Upamecano only just working his way back to full fitness before the start of the tournament. SL Benfica v FC Bayern München: Group C - FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Photo by Heuler Andrey/Eurasia Sport Images/Getty Images Galatasaray have been actively trying to prepare a move to bring Boey back to Turkey, but his salary as well as fees that Bayern would be asking for have been a point of contention. The Turkish club originally wanted to explore a potential loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the loan period and there was also interest from other clubs in Europe, but nothing has materialized as of it. All things considered, Boey has signaled that he is intent on staying at Bayern and fighting for his place in the team despite having only made a total of 17 appearances across all competitions, not including the Club World Cup. Injuries have hampered his tenure in Munich ever since making the move from Galatasaray, but even when he’s fully fit, he likely won’t be in Vincent Kompany’s starting eleven plans.

Paris Saint-Germain v Real Madrid CF: Semi Final - FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Photo by Robbie Jay Barratt - AMA/Getty Images Poor decision in hindsight Bayern Munich was left scrambling in the transfer window after the club experienced rejection after rejection by all their transfer targets. While the club does relentlessly pursue players, they go after the wrong ones. Case in point: Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid. Los Blancos offered the Brazilian winger to the Bavarians a few months ago but the latter decided against it:Rodrygo was offered to Bayern and was briefly discussed back in May. But since not all decision-makers are convinced, he’s currently not a hot topic for the club.– tz journos Philipp Kessler and Hanna Reif as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMiaApart from Arsenal who don’t seem to be a concrete destination for the 24-year-old, Bayern practically has a free run at him. The Spanish giant is in fact willing to part ways with Rodrygo, who also wants out after seeing the competition for the attacking spots is overcrowded.Similar to Rafael Leão, however, the club is going for Luis Diaz from Liverpool who is essentially another Leroy Sané who was such a letdown in his final days at Munich. With the club seemingly (foolishly) prepared to overpay for Nick Woltemade, such behavior is not surprising.

Germany v France - UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2025 Semi-Final Photo by Boris Streubel - UEFA/UEFA via Getty Images It sounds like the player wants out of VfB Stuttgart... Bayern Munich’s pursuit of VfB Stuttgart attacker Nick Woltemade has hit a wall. VfB Stuttgart will not even consider stepping to the negotiating table unless an offer of €65 million is presented. For Nick Woltemade’s agent Danny Bachmann, this has been disappointing. “When a Bundesliga record offer of €55 million isn’t even enough for a face-to-face meeting, the question arises as to what VfB actually considers ‘extraordinary’. This was unforeseeable,” Bachmann told Deutschen Presse-Agentur (as captured by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg). Plettenberg would add more context as well: As of this morning, there has still been no third offer from FC Bayern. VfB Stuttgart waiting. Most recently, an offer €50m euros fixed + €5m in add-ons + 10% sell-on clause was rejected. There is still plenty of time left in the transfer window, but dragging this out would not benefit Bayern Munich or Woltemade. Clearly, VfB STuttgart is not going to get bullied into taking anything less than what it wants.
