Netherlands v Germany - UEFA Nations League 2024/25 League A Group A3 Photo by Lars Baron/Getty Images Will Bayern Munich have a new dynamic duo in the house next season? Bayern Munich is still out of action, but Germany has supplied enough quality to keep our eyes and minds busy, but it is not as if there is not a lot to talk about with the Bavarians. Let’s take a look at some of the big topics for this week on the Bavarian Podcast Works Show: We’ve fought it the best we could, but it is time to admit that if Bayern Munich has the chance to team up Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz they should get it done as soon as possible. Germany is legit now. Julian Nagelsmann is working magic like we have not seen in a long time. Can he keep it going or is Germany peaking too early?Could Hansi Flick lure away Bayern Munich’s talent? At least one report indicates that the Bavarians are at least a little worried that Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, and....Musiala (!?) could all be drawn to Flick. FC Bayern München v SL Benfica - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD4 Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images So does that mean he’s technically serving overseas? A recent report from Bild allowed the German public a glimpse into the not-so-glorious world of mandatory military service in South Korea, specifically through Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae. For those who don’t know, all South Korean men have to serve 1.5 years of military service, unless they have mental or physical disabilities. The service is particularly troublesome for athletes who compete overseas, as they are forced to cut their career short and go back to Korea, which makes their futures very uncertain. But there is a way for players to get out of doing active service, which is to do the country proud in international competitions. However, even this law is restricted only to the Olympics and Asian Games. One must win a gold medal at the Asian Games, or a medal of any color at the Olympics, to be eligible for this law. There was one exception, though; when South Korea reached the semifinals of the 2002 World Cup, the team was granted military exemption due to the immense sensation it caused in the country. In Kim’s case, he got his military exemption by winning the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, the competition that also secured the futures of stars like Son Heung-min and Hwang Hee-chan. So what does an athlete do after he literally strikes gold? Well. it’s not that simple. For starters, since the athletes are only exempted from doing active service for eighteen months, they still have to receive basic training for four weeks, which Kim did right before he signed for Bayern two summers ago. That would have been the end of it, but from July 2015, the athletes have had to complete 544 hours of community service to younger people or people who are less fortunate in society. This can be achieved through a variety of ways, with teaching children football the most common way for professional footballers. However, since this is not possible for players who are overseas, like Kim, they normally do online meetings with young people about other values that are important to being a successful sportsperson. Kim’s service is not anything really hard, and definitely a lot easier than actively being a part of the military, but still something that cannot be skipped over. One error-prone player by the name of Jang Hyun-soo tried fudging his service records and got banned from the national team forever, much to the joy of the Korean fans.So that’s how Kim is technically serving his country from the comfort of his home in Munich. It’s definitely an unorthodox concept for many around the world, but for Koreans, it’s considered a rite of passage. Kim is a Korean first and foremost, and he is doing his duty for his nation.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on the report Bayern Munich’s potential new deal with Jamal Musiala, along with our takes on what might happen at the wing position, plus an assessment of where things stand now that João Palhinha is injured, too? Bayer 04 Leverkusen v VfB Stuttgart - DFL Supercup 2024 Photo by Christof Koepsel/Getty Images It’s not been the easiest time for Tel this season. Bayern Munich looks like a side that has reinvented itself under Vincent Kompany this season. While there is certainly room for improvement, it’s been a huge step forward for the Bavarians as they look to challenge for trophies on multiple fronts. Despite Bayern’s competing in numerous competitions in a densely packed schedule, there are been a handful of players who have not been able to establish themselves under Kompany. One such player is Mathys Tel.Last season, Tel amassed seven goals and five assists in 1050 Bundesliga minutes. This season, however, the young Frenchman has zero goals and zero assists in only 114 league minutes. Tel is on pace to only accumulate 388 Bundesliga minutes across the entirety of the season, which is 37% of the minutes he played last season.Amidst rumors of a potential loan move, former Bayern striker and current club ambassador Claudio Pizzaro holds Tel in high regard and is adamant that the striker take his chance when it comes. Abendzeitung sports journalist Kilian Kreitmar (via @iMiaSanMia) captured the Peruvian legend speaking about Tel, saying, “The boy has a lot of talent and quality. When he gets the chance, he just has to try to use his quality and try to score goals. We strikers live from goals.”This is some real groundbreaking commentary from Pizarro, and with this new information in mind, Tel will certainly be able to turn things around. In fact, Kompany will be kicking himself for not having told Tel to “use his quality” and to “score goals” sooner, but at least it’s now been said. In all seriousness, Tel is a top talent with an excellent support system at Bayern, and Pizarro’s comments show that everyone at the club is behind the player and pulling in the same direction. Whether at Bayern or out on loan, Tel will continue to develop over the remainder of the season. With the level of determination and discipline he’s shown in his career so far, it is only a matter of time before Tel once again finds the back of the net.

FC Bayern München v Carl Zeiss Jena - Google Pixel Frauen Bundesliga Photo by Mark Wieland/Getty Images A good win, but Mala is in all our thoughts now. Bayern Munich was back in Frauen-Bundesliga action on Sunday in a home match against Carl Zeiss Jena. The football match was overshadowed by the somber news that Bayern keeper Maria-Luisa Grohs has been diagnosed with a malignant tumor. This is a time for her teammates anda ll the FC Bayern family to rally around her. And today, they honored her on the field with a spectacular 5-0 victory.Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir got the scoring started in the 19th minute after latching on to an excellent Georgia Stanway cross. Ten minutes later Klara Bühl received a similar cross in a similar area from Linda Dallmann, took a deft controlling touch, and turned to fire home for Bayern’s second. The goals and pressure continued without abatement — Bayern registered 28 shots, 10 on target by the time all was said and done. But the Bavarians would not finally score again until late, when Lea Schüller pounced on an errant back-pass to put the game to bed in the 80th minute. From there the floodgates opened: Jovana Damnjanović hit a wonderful curler from outside the box on 82’, and Schüller collected her brace after a post-corner scramble in front of goal in stoppage time. The Bavarians remain third in the table, eight behind on goal difference to Eintracht Frankfurt and two points behind league leaders Wolfsburg.Bayern returns to Champions League action on Thursday with a trip to face Vålerenga in Norway.

SV Werder Bremen v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Jürgen Fromme - firo sportphoto/Getty Images Is Goretzka posturing for a move away from Bayern either this winter or next summer? At this point, it is not clear whether or not Leon Goretzka will be leaving Bayern Munich either during the winter transfer window, or next summer’s, but he has not been getting much playing time under new manager Vincent Kompany. For what it’s worth, now that both Aleksandar Pavlović and João Palhinha are both technically out injured for the Rekordmeister, Goretzka could get a run of matches alongside Joshua Kimmich in midfield, but Kompany does still have other options besides slotting Goretzka in.Even if he does get some time before the injured midfielders are back fully fit, Goretzka’s future with Bayern looks bleak at best for a player who was a candidate for sale during this past summer’s transfer window. All of the signs are now pointing towards an exit as he has officially switched agents and is now being represented by ROOF Agency based out of Grünwald, Germany, as per BuliNews. The name acronym for the agency stands for Representatives Of Outstanding Footballers, and they represent a handful of high-profile footballing clients. Virgil van Dijk, Serge Gnabry, Kai Havertz, Konrad Laimer, Harvey Elliot, Sadio Mane, Tammy Abraham, and Marc-André ter Stegen, are all ROOF clients, among others. While changing representation is not a direct admission of wanting to leave Bayern, it is a move that certainly seems to suggest that he is planning on a departure at some point — whether that be the winter or summer window is anybody’s guess. There are certainly clubs interested, but Goretzka would likely want to wind up going to a club where he can get consistent minutes and starts, putting his name back into the conversation with Julian Nagelsmann and the German national team.Goretzka’s current contract with Bayern runs through June 2026, so the next twelve months is a crucial period for the club in terms of determining what they would like to do with Goretzka. His market value has been on a downward trend due to his significant lack of consistent minutes, and he currently earns roughly 13 million euros per year at Bayern, which is a figure within the top 10 highest paid players at the club.

Training FC Bayern Photo by Matthias Balk/picture alliance via Getty Images Funds that could have been spent on De Ligt..but you didn’t hear that from me Bayern Munich is gearing up for a big facelift at their legendary Säbener Straße training ground. The club’s board has given the green light to submit a proposal to the City of Munich for a brand-new first-team performance center. With an estimated price tag of €80-90 million, the new training facilities are meant to massively improve the training quality of the first team. According to the report (from BILD, captured by @iMiaSanMia), if the City of Munich gives its approval, construction is expected to kick off in summer 2025.It’s been over 16 years since the last major upgrade, and the current facilities are starting to show their age. In fact, the outdated setup has reportedly even put off some potential star signings after checking out the grounds. Bayern’s bosses see this renovation as crucial for the club’s future, aiming to create a top-tier environment that matches their ambitions on the pitch. The planned overhaul is part of a bigger strategy to ensure Bayern remains a top destination for elite players, combining modern infrastructure with its rich history. This new center could be a game-changer, making sure the club continues to attract the world’s best talent.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on the report Bayern Munich’s potential new deal with Jamal Musiala, along with our takes on what might happen at the wing position, plus an assessment of where things stand now that João Palhinha is injured, too? Real Sociedad v FC Barcelona - La Liga EA Sports Photo by Jose Breton/Pics Action/NurPhoto via Getty Images One more game for Germany...then we get more Bayern Munich action. Will “Flick Appeal” be too much for Bayern stars to resist? (Forbes)There is no doubt that many of the players who have worked under Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich hold an affinity toward their ex-coach. Would it be enough for Flick to convince them to jump ship from Bavaria to Barca, though? It might be something that the club is worried about with Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies...and maybe even Jamal Musiala: Bayern Munich fears that its former head coach and current FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick can seduce its big stars and convince them to head west to Catalonia, as pointed out by Mundo Deportivo.Flick is doing a magnificent job at the Montjuic Stadium, and currently has his men top of the La Liga table by six points going into the ongoing November international break. The advantage was achieved through a landmark 4-0 win over Real Madrid in El Clasico, during a week of litmus tests where Barca exorcised the demons of its “black beast” in Europe and also thrashed Bayern 4-1 at the mentioned ground in the Champions League.Mundo Deportivo now explains that Bayern “fears” Barca away from the pitch at the same time it probably has a newfound sense of caution and respect towards the Blagurana on it.The likes of Lothar Matthaus in and around Bayern’s environment have a lot of respect for Flick’s power of seduction, which could be used in luring the likes of Alphonso Davies, Kimmich and perhaps even Jamal Musiala west to Catalonia one day. While Musiala is under contract until June 30, 2026, Kimmich and Davies’ cases are more serious in that they can walk for free from the Allianz Arena a year before that date, or rather just over seven months from now.It is way too early to hit the panic button just yet, but Kimmich and Davies have been linked to FC Barcelona already. Davies is more likely thinking about a future with Real Madrid than Barca, but Flick could play a role in convincing the Canadian to join his club. As for Kimmich and Musiala, it still feels like both are going to extend their contracts with Bayern Munich, even if Kimmich was very vague about his future in a recent interview and Musiala suddenly postponed a decision on his future until early 2025. Curious? Yes, but it would still be shocking for Kimmich and Musiala to jump ship. Groß lauds Wirtz, Moose (One Football)When he is not having goals swiped away by Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Pascal Groß just likes to sit back and watch Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz work their magic for the German national team. ”These are two incredible footballers who are already absolutely world class at their age. You just have to give them the ball [and they do the rest]. Germany has two unbelievable players who can make the difference in every game,” Groß said. Well...he’s not wrong.Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — Germany 7-0 Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bavarian Football Works)The German national team destroyed Bosnia and Herzegovina 7-0 in a match that was just an all-out, thorough domination by the Germans from start to finish. Jamal Musiala’s early goal set the tone for the match, which was as good as the team has looked under Julian Nagelsmann. Somehow — even in a terrific performance — Musiala did not end the game as Germany most impactful player (which tells you just how good Florian Wirtz was). Needless to say, there was a ton to talk about. Here is what we have on tap for the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:A look at the starting XI.A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.Wirtz and Musiala are incredible. Is the backline ready for a primetime showdown with a European power?Neymar won’t be going to Miami (Goal via 90Min.com)There were rumors kicking around that Neymar wanted to join Lionel Messi and friends at Inter Miami, but it does not look like Tata Martino would be a fan of that move: Inter Miami manager…

FC Bayern München v VfL Wolfsburg - Bundesliga Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Money isn’t the be-all, end-all... Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen recently was asked if last season’s trophyless campaign had a negative impact on the club.“We were not at all satisfied with our sporting performance. But it did not have a major economic impact on us, even though we lost some income from sponsorship contracts or additional games such as the Supercup. We will present very good figures again at the annual general meeting and will positively surprise some people,” Dreesen told FAZ (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). In the vein, Dreesen was also asked if the club was so financially successful that it no longer needed to win championships to be considered successful.“No. I don’t think it will ever happen. The most important thing for our image, for our appeal, for our international presence and of course also for our fans is sporting success. It is the core, the basis of our business. In this respect, we can cope with a year without a title. But if we were not successful in sporting terms for several years, that would have a negative impact on our brand and our economic power in the medium and long term,” said Dreesen.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on the report Bayern Munich’s potential new deal with Jamal Musiala, along with our takes on what might happen at the wing position, plus an assessment of where things stand now that João Palhinha is injured, too? VfL Bochum 1848 v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - Bundesliga Photo by Pau Barrena/Getty Images Someone please buy him already, put everyone out of their misery Bayern Munich is not exactly looking for a center-back right now, despite its current group of center-backs not set in stone just yet. Jonathan Tah has been a name that was thrown around for a long time, and now Bayer Leverkusen have shot themselves in the foot for asking too much money with Tah leaving on a free:Jonathan #Tah will not extend his contract with Bayer 04 Leverkusen. FC Bayern and FC Barcelona are two concrete options for a free transfer in summer, and it is currently highly likely that he will choose one of these clubs. The 28y/o centre-back also remains on the radar of Real Madrid, as well as top Italian clubs such as Inter, according to BILD.– Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal)Bayern and FC Barcelona are the frontrunners in this saga which is beginning to enter Leroy Sané and Harry Kane territory because it’s starting to drag on. Real Madrid is a new entry due to their injury crisis.

Germany v Bosnia and Herzegovina - UEFA Nations League 2024/25 League A Group A3 Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala line up together ahead of Germany’s UEFA Nations League match against Bosnia Herzegovina at Europa-Park Stadion in Freiburg | Photo by Sebastian Widmann - UEFA/UEFA via Getty Images Game recognise game? It is always a joy to witness Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, two of the Bundesliga’s brightest talents, put their talents on display for Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, but it’s even better to see them do it playing for the same side. The duo did exactly that in Germany’s UEFA Nations League clash against Bosnia Herzegovina, scoring 3 and assisting 1 between them to help Germany to an emphatic 7-0 victory. It turns out it’s not just the fans that love seeing the Bundesliga talents play on the same team. In a post match interview with Das Erste, Wirtz described his satisfaction in partnering up with Musiala for the national team (via @MiaSanMia). “I’ve always said that I enjoy playing with him. I said many times that we understand each other on the pitch and get on well off the pitch too. It’s just so much fun,” Wirtz said. From a fans perspective, it is refreshing to see Germany’s two brightest talents, who at club level are fierce rivals, come together to form an effective and fun duo. It truly speaks to the professionalism of both players at such a young age. No doubt, Bayern fans will be praying for the day they will not have to wait until the international break to see the duo score and assist at will. However, until that day comes, Musiala and Wirtz will certainly continue to put their stamp on Germany’s refreshed and rejuvenated national team. Germany v Bosnia and Herzegovina - UEFA Nations League 2024/25 League A Group A3 Photo by Adam Pretty/Getty Images That is one way to put it! Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala loves his profession. Some would say the the youngster approaches his work as more of a passion than a job and that mindset wason full display during Germany’s 7-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday. The attacker got the scoring started with (another!?) header in the 2nd minute, which opened the floodgates for a 7-0 victory by the Germans. Needless to say, Musiala had a blast playing in the match. “That was fun. We did what we wanted to do, scored a lot of goals but still worked hard defensively, which made it easy for us,” Musiala said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).It being together stays this fun for the Germans, it could be a very good sign for the squad’s 2026 World Cup hopes.
