Holstein Kiel v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Bayern Munich sporting director, Max Eberl, lookson ahead of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga game against Holstein Kiel at Holstein-Stadion. | Photo by Stuart Franklin/Getty Images Fortune favours the prepared. After taking to the Bundesliga and Bayern Munich like a duck to water, it is difficult to picture a world without Harry Kane leading the line for Die Rekordmeister. Unfortunately for Bayern Munich sporting director, Max Eberl, it’s part of his job and he’s already started picturing that exact world. Kane still has a contract that runs into 2027, but Sport Bild’s Tobi Altschäffl reports that Eberl is already casting an eye onto who the Englishman’s successor may be (via @iMiaSanMia). Bayern are extremely happy with Harry Kane, whose contract at the club runs until 2027. Nevertheless, the search for a successor has begun in the background. Max Eberl is exploring the striker market closely, especially since internally not only the next year, but also the year after are included in the squad planningAfter a season and a bit at Bayern, Kane already has big shoes to fill. By the time his contract runs out in 2027 those shoes may just be unfillable. Although, that is what many said about a certain Robert Lewandowski. So who exactly are the candidates that have made their way onto the former Leipzig managing director of sport?Well, Tobi Altschäffl is on the case once again and points out two players who Die Rekordmeister are currently monitoring (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško (21) and Loïs Openda (24) are among the strikers being monitored by Bayern for the time after Harry Kane Šeško was already a topic at Bayern when he was at Salzburg. The club saw big potential in him, but couldn’t guarantee him enough game time. The Slovenian striker has a €70m release clause valid in 2026 Openda, who was signed for Leipzig by Max Eberl, has a €80m release clause valid in 2026 as well It doesn’t come as much of a surprise that the two names Eberl is currently looking at come from his former employers, RB Leipzig. Either player would prove to be an interesting heir to the prolific English striker, however, neither is currently close to Kane’s level. Harry Kane, as mentioned before, still has about two and a half years left on his contract. In that time, much will change in the striker market, so Eberl’s list is not concrete and certainly leaves room for names to be added as well as removed. What do you think about Openda and Šeško as potential Harry Kane successors? Who do you think the perfect successor for Harry Kane would be?As always, let us know your thoughts down below. FC Bayern München v SL Benfica - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD4 Photo by Adam Pretty/Getty Images Bayern Munich should be primed to power past St. Pauli. Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has perused his roster, consulted with board member for sport Max Eberl, and the duo has come to this conclusion — the Bavarians are perfectly fine with their current roster for the rest of this season. “We’re very happy with the current squad. We do not feel any pressure to do anything,” Freund told DAZN (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “There’s no pressure for the January transfer period. We’re in a situation where some important players have contracts that are not valid for much longer. That’s what we are focusing on and what we’re discussing. We’re currently concentrating on the squad that we have at our disposal. There’s a lot to do.”Considering that Freund was fully in-charge when the club overpaid for Bryan Zaragoza (now on loan with Osasuna) and Sacha Boey (injured for the majority of his tenure), maybe it is best if Bayern Munich just sits this one out in January. After all, the Bavarians should have Boey, Aleksandar Pavlović, and Josip Stanišić back in January. Maybe — fingers crossed — if things go well for Hiroki Ito, the defender will also be back. In effect, it is sort of like getting a quality haul during the transfer window anyway. However, there should be concern at center-back — and not necessarily because of performance. Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae are racking up a lot of mileage and a lot of wear-and-tear. In addition to their work in Bavaria, both players are key figures for their respective national teams as well. With only Eric Dier as a true back-up at the moment, it might behoove Bayern Munich to — at least — explore what options are out there. Sure, Stanišić and Ito can play the position, but it could be unwise for the club to rely on two players, who have already been banged up with long-term injuries this season.Just a thought...Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 4, Episode 17Bayern Munich is in the midst of a scorching hot stretch and Harry Kane has been a big part of the team’s success. So why is Bayern Munich already seeking another striker when Kane’s deal does not end until 2027? Apparently, the planning has begun and there are a lot of options under consideration...but who will be the ultimate selection? That is a big question and we’ll discuss it. What should we make of the striker update? Viktor YourkereshA #Project2026 update. Wingers are at the forefront of our discussion once again. An Entertainment Rundown — The Penguin dropped its penultimate episode and we learned a lot about ol’ Oz Cobb. Song of the Week: “Way Down Now” by World PartyIf you are a certain age, you remember that MTV actually used to play music and even better, they had a show dedicated to alternative rock. One of the bands that was a fixture on the show was World Party, who many of you might never have heard of. Powered by Karl Wallinger (deceased), the band had a window where it was able to establish itself as a big name in the genre.Enjoy a dose of the late 80s and early 90s alt rock scene:Entertainment RundownThe PenguinSeason 1, Episode 7 — Top HatWell, this episode did not lack in substance, so let’s dive in: Oz Cobb’s origin story is sort of told (but not fully flushed out) as we find out how he idolized neighborhood gangster Rex Calabrese. While playing with his brothers, Oz’s physical deficiencies affect his ability to do what he wants, he gets frustrated (likely from a lifetime of dealing with it), and inadvertently (maybe) offs his brothers by sealing them into a sewer. Nope, not the way I’d want to go. Anyway, the backstory plays a key role in showing how this physically-impaired boy evolves into a complete monster (who might or might not have some kind of Oedipus Complex with his mom). Current times, though, left a bit of a hole in the story. After Sofia (Falcone) Gigante abducts ol’ Mrs. Cobb, we find Victor beaten, but…

FC Bayern München v SL Benfica - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD4 Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Getty Images Bayern needed an injection of energy in the second half, and the substitute wingers brought it. Bayern Munich’s 1-0 Champions League win over SL Benfica this Wednesday can probably be attributed in part to the lively substitutions of wingers Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman in the second half.Sané came on for Michael Olise on the right wing in the 56th minute, while Coman relieved Serge Gnabry in the 72nd. As Bayern midfield general Joshua Kimmich noted, the four wingers combined for a devastated one-two punch to Benfica’s efforts to snatch even a point off the Bavarians.“Leroy and Kingsley made very good decisions when they came on, sometimes going into 1v1 dribbling and sometimes making runs in behind,” Kimmich noted after the match in comments captured via @iMiaSanMia. “I can see it from the perspective of the opposing full-backs. When you play for 60 minutes against Michael and Serge, and then Leroy and King come on — it’s very tiring. The guys coming off the bench gave us a big push once again.”The Bayern No. 6 has spent plenty of time at right-back as well in his career, so he knows what it is like to deal with fresh legs and a change in dynamic like this. Head coach Vincent Kompany currently enjoys an abundance of talent at his disposal in the Bayern attack and it will be his task to continue making the best use of them — in the starting lineup or off the bench.Looking for a discussion on Bayern Munich’s post-Harry Kane plans and why rotation at wing could hold the kept to the team’s season? Eintracht Frankfurt v VfL Bochum 1848 - Bundesliga Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Bayern Munich needs to get right back at it... Marmoush could be down to Bayern vs. EPL clubs (Sport Bild’s Tobi Altschäffl via @iMiaSanMia)According to a report from Sport Bild’s Tobi Altschäffl, the future for Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Omar Marmoush could come down to Bayern Munich squaring off against any number of Premier League clubs:Omar Marmoush wants to take the next step in his career next summer. For him there are only two options: either a move to the Premier League or to FC Bayern. Frankfurt want €40-50m. But since Bayern are still planning with Harry Kane as their starting #9 next season, they would have to adjust the system or plan with Marmoush in another position if they were to make a move for him.It is still questionable on whether or not Marmoush would be a fit at Bayern Munich (would he be a striker? A wing?). Would he accept being a back-up to Harry Kane for any period of time? That is all up for debate. There is no denying that Marmoush is an electric talent, though. If he keep up his current form, he could be in line to make Die Adler a lot of money this summer. Barca, Chelsea eyeing Adeyemi (El Nacional via 90Min.com)Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi could be a popular target on the transfer market this summer. FC Barcelona is one of the clubs interested: Borussia Dortmund have been offered €15m and Ferran Torres by Barcelona in exchange for German forward Karim Adeyemi. (El Nacional - Spain)In addition, Chelsea FC could also be interested in Adeyemi (per Fichajes): Chelsea remain interested in Adeyemi – a pursuit driven by head coach Enzo Maresca – and could make a bid north of €40m for the 22-year-old.Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: St. Pauli vs. Bayern Munich (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich will be looking to stay hot against St. Pauli in the Bundesliga on Saturday. After trouncing Union Berlin last weekend and taking out Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday, Bayern Munich is riding the wave of momentum. FC Bayern München v Eintracht Frankfurt - Google Pixel Frauen Bundesliga Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images for DFB A bad time to slip up for the Bavarians. Bayern Munich suffered a Frauen-Bundesliga setback on Monday in a 1-1 home draw to Eintracht Frankfurt. An early Giulia Gwinn cross struck a defender’s arm, resulting in a penalty attempt by Georgia Stanway in just the third minute. But Germany international keeper Stina Johannes saved, and Stanway blazed the rebound over the bar. That miss would prove to be costly for the Bavarians. It would be another half hour before Bayern found the breakthrough at last, Pernille Harder heading home emphatically at the far post from a perfect Klara Bühl corner delivery. However, despite the advantage on the scoreboard and in the underlying stats, storm clouds were lurking behind the Bayern performance. In the second half, the fog rolled in...and so did Bayern’s old demons.Alara Şehitler, in her Bundesliga debut start, missed a golden chance to start the half. Then Bühl was denied after a strong run and Bayern missed the rebound as visibility conditions continued to decline — to the point where the match ball was changed to bright orange, so that fans could see what was going on.It was with the orange ball that Nina Lührẞen found German national team star Nicole Anyomi with a long ball over the top. Anyomi shrugged off Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir, drove inside towards goal, and buried the equalizer past Bayern keeper Ena Mahmutovic (starting in place of the injured Mala Grohs).Bayern’s Giulia Gwinn was forced off with a late injury and the match ended with no further goals. Meanwhile, Bayern’s Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg scored a 3-0 victory over SC Freiburg — knotting the two teams on points at the top of the Frauen-Bundesliga table. This is really not the way Bayern Munich wants to be trending, but here we are. The Frauen-Bundesliga title race is on.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s match against St. Pauli this weekend? Bayern Munich v Benfica - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD4 Photo by Ulrik Pedersen/NurPhoto via Getty Images Is it valid? Leroy Sané was once an integral part of the German national squad. But it has been 4 months since the Bayern Munich player last played under former club coach Julian Nagelsmann for his country. The 28 year old winger is going to be left out yet again for the country’s upcoming games in the UEFA Nations League, and perhaps given his current form, it is probably a good thing. Although he is rediscovering his form, it may take time for him to get back to his peak. And that is exactly why Nagelsmann has made the decision to leave him out of the squad. According to a report from Florian Plettenburg, it is because DFB wants to let Sané have his time to develop before playing for Germany again. Allowing him the time to find his form again is exactly what Sané needs right now.He isn’t alone though. Leon Goretzka was also left out of the most recent call ups by Nagelsmann, but then again, the struggling midfielder has not played for his country is a year now. Both Bayern players are on the same path right now; to redemption, and it will be an interesting journey, seeing where they end up down the road.

FC Bayern München v 1. FC Union Berlin - Bundesliga Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Romain Jean was the ex-Luxembourg women’s football team coach. The football community lost a significant character and voice as Bayern Munich beat Benfica 1-0 on Wednesday. The untimely and unfortunate death of a fan cast a dark shadow over the victory, and the identification of the deceased further throws the football sphere into agony. The fan who lost his life following a heart attack during the game has been identified as Romain Jean, who dedicated part of his life to football, serving as the first-ever coach of the Luxembourg women’s football team between 2003-2012.The Luxembourg Football Federation expressed its dismay following the news:The FLF Board of Directors expresses, on behalf of all Luxembourg football, its sincere condolences to the family of Romain Jean, former national coach of the Rout LéiwinnenAccording to RTL, Jean was initially resuscitated multiple times by first-aiders rushing to the scene before being transported to the hospital under intensive care. VfL Bochum 1848 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Mathys Tel deep in thought before Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match up against Vfl Bochum. | Photo by Dean Mouhtaropoulos/Getty Images Local is lovely? Struggling to find minutes - only starting two out of Bayern Munich’s 14 matches across all competitions - and yet to score or assist, Mathys Tel has had a rough start to life under Vincent Kompany. A stark contrast to 19-year-old’s flying start to the 2023/24 campaign with Thomas Tuchel.Bayern is thus aware of the talent Tel possesses, however, currently feel as if a loan could be the best option for his development.According to Sport Bild’s Tobi Altschäffl, Stuttgart, among other clubs, is interested in adding the French talent to their ranks (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). Stuttgart are among clubs interested in a loan deal for Mathys Tel. VfB had already shown interest in the Frenchman last summerConsidering Tel’s limited minutes so far this season, a period on loan may just be the best option, but Stuttgart may not be the ideal destination. Mathys Tel is naturally a striker, but can also be deployed on the wing. Stuttgart are already stacked in the striker position with Deniz Undav, Ermedin Demirovic, El Bilal Touré and Nick Woltemade. This leaves little room for minutes for Tel, while on the wings, Chris Führich and Jamie Leweling would provide stiff competition for a starting berth.Unless Stuttgart happen to lose a few players in the January transfer window, a loan to Die Schwaben doesn’t make the most sense for Tel in terms of securing minutes. If it’s true that Stuttgart are just one of many clubs interested in Tel, then it may suit Bayern better to look for options where minutes would be more secure for the young Frenchman. FBL-EUR-C1-BAYERN MUNICH-BENFICA Photo by TOBIAS SCHWARZ/AFP via Getty Images The defensive unit was sharp and on point in a Champions League shutout of SL Benfica on Wednesday. Bayern Munich’s center-back pairing is putting in incredible work.Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano are tasked with enormous responsibilities in head coach Vincent Kompany’s high-pressing system — which sends players forward and can leave them, along with a dropping midfielder like Joshua Kimmich, with large tracts of green to cover at the blink of an eye. Any time the Bavarians lose possession — and Bayern has adventurous dribblers up front who are not shy to try the risky maneuver — Upamecano and Kim have to know a long ball could be coming over the top.And any mistake, even a single one in stoppage time after 90 immaculate minutes, could prove costly.“I’ve already said at the start of the season that it wasn’t easy at all to defend that high with huge spaces behind them,” Kimmich noted after Bayern’s 1-0 Champions League win over SL Benfica (as captured by kicker, via @iMiaSanMia). “Of course we always try to help [them], but it’s great that both are extremely quick and are very strong in duels. Both make very smart decisions in their duels with the opposing players. That helps us a lot. “I’ve always seen Min-jae as a monster in challenges, but he’s also developed a lot with the ball. You can see that he understands the coach’s ideas and wants to implement them. Phonzy [left-back Alphonso Davies] is also always in a good position and offers them a passing option, which helps both center-backs in the build-up.”Kim returned Kimmich’s praise.“Joshi is a good friend who always encourages me. It makes me happy when he calls me the defensive monster. I have confidence and feel totally at home in Munich. But there’s more to come — I have not yet reached the level I had in Napoli,” Kim said (again via @iMiaSanMia).It sounds like this Bayern engine is humming right along — and it’s down to the exceptional work of the guys who have to cover it all at the back.Looking for a discussion on Bayern Munich’s post-Harry Kane plans and why rotation at wing could hold the kept to the team’s season? Al Ahli v Qatar SC - EXPO Stars League Photo by Mohamed Farag/Getty Images The Al-Ahli player had takes... Ahead of Bayern Munich’s 1-0 victory over Benfica in the Champions League, former Benfica player Julian Draxler came to the defense of his old national team colleague Manuel Neuer, who has been under some heat of late “Manu is the best goalkeeper of all time. Period. Of course, you can criticize him, but let’s be happy that we can still watch him play. I also think that he’s still at the top level and will make important saves for Bayern this season. This discussion is also very German - I think Gigi Buffon could have come out of his goal five times per game in Italy and the Italians would still have idolized him despite conceding five goals,” Draxler told Ransport’s Philipp Kessler (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). In the lead up to the match, Draxler also gave his breakdown on how things might play out.“Compared to my time at Benfica, a lot has changed. Many top players have left. But it’s also part of the club’s philosophy to train players and then sell them at a profit. They have been doing this excellently for years. I recently watched a few games and am convinced that they have a very good team again. They still have a good mix of young, hungry players with potential and experienced guys like my old friend Angel di Maria,” said Draxler. “Benfica has a chance against every team in the world – just ask Diego Simeone. Nevertheless, FC Bayern remains the favorites. Bayern will try to press very high - just like Kompany has always done. I think the key is to have calm and class on the ball and not to panic under pressure. “The spaces that Bayern have offered in recent weeks must be used efficiently. That’s how you can hurt them - but of course that’s easier said than done. Barcelona at least showed very well how that can work.”The former German national team player was not too far off in his assessment.
