Jonathan Tah flirted with the Bavarians over the summer, but the move never came to be, and now his options have grown:Jonathan Tah is still determined to leave Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer next summer. However, his agreement with FC Bayern no longer stands. There are now serious doubts in Tah’s entourage as to whether a move to Munich would be the right step for him at all. What happened last summer during the negotiations for Tah has left its mark. Tah’s decision is once again completely open. As a free agent next year, the German international now has very interesting options abroad. Initially a staple of Los Blancos’ defense, he tore his ACL in December of last year and has not featured since. Bayern even helped him out, but there were reports of him not playing ever again. That has since been shut down since the 32-year-old Austrian has not considered retirement and Carlo Ancelotti has not considered a winter signing:If we find an ideal player for Real Madrid, we won’t rule out a signing. However, finding the ideal player is not that simple.Alaba will return, as we believe he is recovering well and will soon be working with the team. Things looking good for Kimmich, Bayern (@FabrizioRomano)After rumors linking him to Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona have been swirling for months, it appears that Joshua Kimmich and Bayern Munich could be lining up for a contract extension, which should satisfy both parties. Kimmich could be set to agree on a contract extension in the coming weeks, but might not actually sign anything until January: Bayern are now confident to get new deal agreement done with Joshua Kimmich.
Negotiations are underway and he’s now more open to discuss compared to last season.

But you should never rule anything out in life and also in football.”Finally, Sport Bild’s Tobi Altschäffl and Christian Falk chimed in with their information on the situation (via @iMiaSanMia): Joshua Kimmich is in good talks with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund over a new contract, but the salary still has to be discussed. Kimmich currently earns €15m base salary plus €5m in bonuses. The club would like to lower it, but that could be difficult since Kimmich is back to being a crucial player under Vincent Kompany. Kimmich still has no agent. He represents himself in the negotiations and only gets help from a lawyer to review the contract in the end.Not all fans are going to be thrilled with this news. Kimmich’s detractors have been vocal, but they might also need to get used to the thought that he will be with the club for another three or four years. Current Real Madrid superstar David Alaba was the last top talent squeezed out of Bayern Munich’s youth campus, the FC Bayern Campus, for a long time. After Alaba’s sudden rise to stardom in 2012, the Campus went embarrassingly quiet. To counteract this lack of young talent, Bayern spent hundreds of millions of euros on a new Bayern campus in 2017, aiming to revitalize their youth development. At first it was slow progress, but the results are now starting to show .It is this progress that Bayern youth graduate Frans Krätzig aimed to explain, as he sat down to hold an interview with a representative of Bayern Munich’s official website. Bayern’s first team boasts the likes of Jamal Musiala, Jošip Stanišić and Aleksandar Pavlović from the FC Bayern Campus, while Armindo Sieb, Paul Wanner and more and impressing out on loan.This prompted the interviewer to ask Krätzig about his view on the Campus. How does the VfB Stuttgart loan player rate the work done? Krätzig’s response is surprisingly in depth for a guy who was asked to talk about his parent club and employers.“If you look at the Bundesliga or even abroad, the Campus has recently produced some good players. I think the Campus needed a bit of time. You couldn’t expect talent to emerge immediately after it was built in 2017. It also had to develop a bit, and the players also needed time to develop. But there are some players with whom I boarded who are now playing at the highest level. You can now see that it’s bearing fruit. It also makes me proud to be one of those players,” said Krätzig.Krätzig should know. After all, he was one of the many players who joined Bayern in 2017, when the Campus was first opened. He saw the Campus develop, find its’ way and then eventually flourish, growing to the level it is today. In his career, Thomas Müller has played with many great strikers in his day. Mario Gómez, Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose, Robert Lewandowski...and recently, another top-class striker in Harry Kane was added to the list. Even with a long last of past legends, Müller was instantly impressed by Kane. the former Tottenham Hotspur striker.“He’s a goalscorer, and there are not many who can match his numbers,” Müller said of the former Tottenham Hotspur striker in an interview for Bundesliga.com (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “It’s not a coincidence, rather it’s because he has the ability to put himself in the right positions and find the back of the net. “Harry is a brutal finisher. He’s two-footed, and his shots are just so powerful. His attempts are good from a technique point of view, but also from a tactical one — he knows where to place them and which type of shot to fire off. He doesn’t just smash it, but instead places the ball with precision and speed into the corners that goalkeepers just can’t save. He obviously knows how to get goals, so it doesn’t seem unbelievable to me but, at the same time, it’s great to see how regularly he can rely on his finishing qualities.”After all that praise, surely Kane is the best striker Müller has played with? But, in a display of his experience, Müller stressed that perhaps this is not the right question to ask. “It’s not about being the best. I was asked many times in my career about my favourite pizza or my favourite food — that’s all nonsense,” Müller explained. “You can ask which striker fits with the teammates? What’s the best fit for this particular opponent? But the best overall? It doesn’t work like that. When you compare top strikers, everyone is a bit different. One may be a better dribbler, another may have more pace. There are surely players who are better in those aspects than Harry, but in terms of finishing — with both feet and his head — there’s no-one better. He is at the very top. Otherwise, though, there are a lot of brilliant strikers who bring other qualities. That’s just how it is.”Müller has played with target forwards, fox-in-the-box strikers and now with a play-making forward in Harry Kane. They all have their qualities and Müller knows to appreciate that. But perhaps the Raumdeuter still needs to be more decisive. How does he not know his favorite pizza? Who does that? Just pick one, Thomas, and make sure it’s not pineapple pizza.

Bayern Munich returned to winning ways in the Frauen-Bundesliga in an absolute nail-biter in Leverkusen. Die Werkself struck first and looked well on their way to putting the Bavarians to the sword, or at least stealing a point despite not enjoying the run of the play, before a last-quarter red card changed the tide of the match.Still, it required some late magic for Bayern to take home all three points. The full match is available courtesy of DAZN on YouTube; highlights below:Leverkusen forward Cornelia Kramer got the scoring going early in the 20th minute — completely against the run of play. Bayern enjoyed over 70% possession over the run of the match, but it took just one errant long distribution from keeper Maria-Luisa Grohs for the home side to pounce. One pass, one cross — and suddenly the ball was in the back of the Bayern net. The Bavarian reaction would not come until the second half began. Sarah Zadrazil arrived late in the box in the 50th minute, muscling through a thicket of defenders to win the ball after a Lea Schüller cross, and scoring in spectacular fashion just over keeper Friederike Repohl’s outstretched arms. But Leverkusen replied instantly to go ahead again — a well-worked routine after a throw-in in Bayern’s half found its way to Julia Mickenhagen, who coolly slotted home from outside the box. It must be said that Grohs reacted late, given the power of the shot, which despite its accurate placement towards the lower right corner was not exactly banking in off the post. Bayern leveled again however, after their own throw-in towards Leverkusen’s box resulted in striker Jovana Damnjanović getting her feet clipped by fullback Janou Levels. Despite protests the penalty was instantly given and Georgia Stanway made no mistake.In the 73rd minute, Leverkusen’s second goal-scorer Mickenhagen picked up her second yellow of the match after challenging Giulia Gwinn. It was no doubt a generous booking from Bayern’s perspective, as Gwinn’s poor first touch gave Mickenhagen the opening to pick her pocket, and the Leverkusen player looked to have clearly won the ball first before inadvertently stepping on on Gwinn’s toes in the course of the coming together. Nonetheless, the referee decided it sufficient to warrant a second booking — Mickenhagen’s first had come in the 61st minute — and sent off Leverkusen’s would-be match winner in tears while handing her team the task of desperately holding on for the remaining quarter hour of play.And just about hold on they did, despite waves of Bavarian pressure — until the 90th minute. 17-year-old Alara Şehitler, one of the brightest young prospects for both club and country, latched on to a second ball just outside the box and struck home sumptuously from range, beating Repohl — for the third time in the match just beyond the reach of the keeper’s arms. Lilla Turányi had one more chance to change the the result for Leverkusen, but the center-back’s effort — which proved to be the last kick of the game — was tame.It was Şehitler’s debut Frauen-Bundesliga goal, and her teammates helped to wait out the remaining seven minutes of stoppage time. The win secures Bayern’s place still at the top of the league despite the recent loss to Wolfsburg. Next time out, it will be Bayern hosting second-placed Eintracht Frankfurt on November 4th.

You don’t often get to this high level at this age. That’s unique. Credit to La Masia. Not that all was good, however. As has often been the case this season, the team dominated possession but struggled to do much of anything with it. There was no moving the ball between the lines, no fluid movement off the ball and the vast majority of Bayern II’s possession was spent with the backline passing it back and forth. It was rather inevitable that this bluntness in the attack would lead to an opposition counter attack and goal, which was precisely what happened when Mannhardt scored in the 31st minute.But the team showed the right reaction. The attack did not magically improve. In fact, if one watches the highlights, the goals came from a direct free kick, a counter attack from an opposition corner and a corner of the team’s own. But the team never let their heads drop and demonstrated the force of will to win the match. Youth development comes down to many different factors, but one of the most important aspects to develop is the grit and never ending desire to win, which was demonstrated today.Individually, Luca Denk impressed with his third long range goal in 3 games with a gorgeously curved free kick into the top corner, Nestory Irankunda worked hard all night and was rewarded with an assist for Arijon Ibrahimović and the substitutes in Guido Della Rovere, Timo Kern and Noel Aseko Nkili helped take the team performance to the next level.All of a sudden, the fight for top spot seems possible again. Having played 12 games, Bayern II are on 24 points, 7 behind 1st place. Due to multiple Bayern games being cancelled due to the international breaks and the internationals the team lost, however, the team has played less games than every team ahead of them. Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich knows what is at stake against FC Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday. The midfielder loves to play in such a matchup, but understands a loss could make Bayern Munich’s pathway forward in the UCL just a little more difficult. “It’s always something special to play against Barça, which we often did lately. The situation is of course very interesting, seeing Hansi again. We are really looking forward to it,” said Kimmich, whose press conference was interrupted by a temporary power outage (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I think it’s very exciting, but it’s also tough to get to grips with. Barça and we have both lost one game, so it’ll be exciting tomorrow. I don’t know what’s then possible if you lose twice, whether you can reach the next round without the playoffs.”Kimmich, of course, will be competing against his old boss, Hansi Flick, who now mans the head coaching spot for FC Barcelona. Kimmich said Bayern Munich’s current run of form reminds him of Flick’s tenure in Bavaria. “It feels like the time under Hansi Flick because we’re winning so many games. Yes, we had three games before the international break where we didn’t win, but the way we’re playing makes us confident. We won a lot of games under Hansi. We didn’t really manage that as much afterwards. We’ve also not won a title yet this season, but wins are the foundation for titles. And a good togetherness and good football are also the foundations for wins. We’re on track there. We players see the path and believe in the way we’re playing,” said Kimmich, who then reflected on his time working with Flick at Bayern Munich. “Hansi created a good spirit back then. He gave the players and everyone around us a lot of trust. Also at times where there were doubts, including we players in ourselves. We then played spectacular football that we all loved. We created a dynamic, we believed in what sort of football we were playing. Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany knows the storylines are out there ahead of his team’s Champions League match vs. FC Barcelona, but do not expect the coach to get tricked into saying anything inflammatory. “Personally, I don’t make any difference between this game and others. The next game is always the most important game. I live every game just like you live this game. We will compete against a top European club,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Hansi was very successful at Bayern. People still talk about him in Munich today. He means a lot to Bayern. Hansi’s ideas are very clear, and hopefully ours are too. Tomorrow we’ll see who wins.”Still, Kompany knows the recent history — including Bayern Munich’s infamous 8-2 throttling of FC Barcelona back in 2020.“It was during the COVID, so probably at home [laughs]. I understand that this is part of the drama around this game. But for me it’s all about the 90 minutes tomorrow. There will be a new story of its own. And that’s the only one that interests me at the moment,” Kompany remarked. “Points are more important to me than a good style of play or lots of goals. But it’s a different game tomorrow, against a different opponent. All the positive statistics you can list about us can also be listed for Barça. That’s what makes the game so exciting. The fans shouldn’t come to watch the coaches’ tactics but to marvel at the talent that the players show on the pitch. That’s what makes it really exciting.”Bayern Munich’s health is a bit of an issue at the moment, but not one that cannot be overcome. On the 20th of October, South Korean gaming giants Nexon put together a footballing legends match, featuring prominent names such as Didier Drogba, Kaká, Rio Ferdinand, Luís Figo, Michael Owen, Andrea Pirlo, Clarence Seedorf, Fabio Cannavaro, and more.The premise was a “shield vs spear” match, featuring eleven defensive players against eleven attacking players. Its purpose was to answer the lifelong question of who would win a match between the best defenders and the best attackers. The defensive team ended up winning 4-1 in front of a full house at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.Although this writer did not attend said match, it did get him thinking: what would such a game look like with Bayern Munich legends? Who would win in a battle between Bayern’s best ever defenders and attackers? Well, dear reader, if you ever found yourself asking that question, this is your chance to think about it.Introducing...FC Bayern Speer and FC Bayern Schild!Bayern Speer (Attackers)Goalkeeper: Manuel NeuerArguably one of the greatest, if not the greatest, goalkeepers to grace the game of football, Bayern’s current captain guards the attacking team’s goal. The original sweeper-keeper will probably go down as one of the most attacking goalkeepers in footballing history.Right-back: Mehmet SchollScholl was one of Bayern’s most gifted players ever, and his multitude of talents, including long range shots, dribbling, and passing, grants him a spot at right back. To be completely honest, there weren’t that many better options.Center-backs: Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Stefan Effenberg“Kalle” is the Speer’s first center-back, since, well, his slightly lofty height of 1.82 meters makes him a decent header. He wasn’t the greatest at headers, but you’d be silly not to mark him on set pieces. Stefan Effenberg joins him in the center of defense, because, well, he’s actually a pretty decent center back on FIFA. Sorry, EA FC.Left-back: Arjen RobbenMr. Wembley has it all to be a great left-back - attacking ability, speed, dribbling, you name it. Who needs defensive stats in an all-attacking team anyway? Plus, he could be one of the most clutch full backs in history along with Scholli on the other side.Central Midfielders: Uli Hoeneß and Thomas MüllerWe all know how creative Uli can be with his words. Let’s see how well they translate to his actions on the pitch. As for the first Müller in the team, his spatial awareness and passing abilities make him a much better candidate for the middle of the park than his teammates.Right Winger: Giovane ÉlberNo one can say no to a bit of Brazilian flair on the wing. Bayern’s legendary Samba-Stürmer shifts out wide to use his technique for assisting rather than scoring. But beware, Gio’s technique will surprise you if you think he’s just there for putting in crosses.Left Winger: Franck RibéryFinally, someone in his rightful position. King Franck will most likely go down as Bayern’s best ever winger, and it would be a crime to put him anywhere but his normal spot. After all, he nearly (and really should have) won a Ballon d’Or playing at left wing.Center Forwards: Robert Lewandowski and Gerd MüllerWas there any doubt? Although Lewy’s departure from Bayern was in less than ideal circumstances, he is still a Bayern legend, and would have been the best ever striker to wear Bayern’s colors...had it not been for his partner Gerd. There is little more to say about Gerd than what has already been said, and these two players would score so many goals they might lose count.So that was FC Bayern Speer. Now, though, Manchester United wants to play the role of disruptor by making Davies even more rich than Real Madrid was planning to make him: Manchester United are prepared to meet Alphonso Davies’ wage demands with a blank cheque as they hope to convince the Bayern Munich left-back to reject interest from Real Madrid in favour of a move to Old Trafford. The irony of all of this is that Davies has been far better in recent weeks than he was at any point in the last three seasons at Bayern Munich. Granted, it is still a small sample size, but Davies has been much better in keeping possession, while also making smart decisions with his passing. Moreover, the Canadian has been far better positionally and experienced less lapses with his focus as well. This has been the Davies that most Bayern Munich fans have been waiting to re-emerge for the last three campaigns. Now...it sure looks like he is leaving and Real Madrid and Manchester United might have to see who can dig deeper into their coffers to bring the left-back to their squad. LFC eyeing Schlotterbeck (ESPN)Nico Schlotterbeck is one of the most mercurial players in all of Germany. Sometimes, the center-back is terrific and other times, he seems to just pile on one mistake after another. At this week’s Nations League match against the Netherlands, Bayern Munich legends Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller were honored for their prestigious international careers that included winning the 2014 World Cup with Germany.While Müller looks to be playing the last season of his illustrious career, Neuer has a little bit left in the tank. The results of Neuer’s contract negotiation will have a trickle down effect.Where does that leave Bayern’s other goalkeepers? Florian Plettenberg’s recent report offered some insight:Initial talks about a possible contract extension for Sven Ulreich beyond 2025 are expected to take place in November. Ulreich’s future also depends on whether Manuel Neuer extends his contract and whether Daniel Peretz would to go out on loan. If Neuer extends his contract, then a loan for Peretz is very likely. A new one-year contract is conceivable for Ulreich. Stuttgart is happy with the performance of Bayern loanee Alexander Nübel and will likely want to offer a transfer fee or loan extension for the 2025/26 campaign. Speaking to Sky Sport, former Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovač has admitted that the club apparently gave him an order to bench longtime fan-favorite Thomas Müller during his time at the Bavarian capital. For reference, Müller was only about thirty years old when Kovač was told to implement younger players in his position. There has long been a conspiracy theory held by fans (one fan, at the very least) that Bayern Munich have long been trying to push Thomas Müller out of the club. Kovač tried first with James Rodriguez and, when the Colombian went back to Real Madrid, brought in Philippe Coutinho from FC Barcelona to try and keep Müller on the bench. He has since admitted that it was a mistake. “Today, I think it was a mistake,” he said to Sky Sports (via @BayernSpace on Twitter). “He should have played much more, but when I started, there was an order to initiate a change and implement younger players—a generational shift. Looking back, I shouldn’t have done that.”Whether it’s true or not, the fact that Kovač says he was ordered to initiate a generational shift away from Müller is damning for two reasons. First, it shows that he was never in charge of his own lineups during his time at the club, which goes to show why his stint failed in the end. Second, it lends credence to the idea that certain parts of the Bayern Munich board tried to get rid of Müller circa 2018/19, and they almost succeeded.
