US CPI Update Sept 11, 2025

Today’s the big one CPI data release (August). Markets are watching closely.

Expectations

Headline CPI +2.9% YoY

Core CPI (ex-food & energy) → +3.1% YoY

Why it matters

Inflation is still above the Fed’s 2% target.

Hotter CPI USD strengthens, risk assets (incl. crypto) could dip.

Softer CPI markets may rally on hopes of Fed cuts.

Earlier this week PPI came in weaker than expected (–0.1% MoM) → slight relief.
At the same time, US unemployment rose to 4.3%, putting pressure on the Fed.
