A powerful magnitude-7.3 earthquake has rocked the northern border region between Iran and Iraq, killing more than 400 people and injuring thousands more.
Iran’s state-run Irna news agency has raised the death toll to 407 and said 6,700 people were injured after the quake that struck the country’s western provinces at 9.20pm local time on Sunday. Tremors were felt hundreds of miles away in both capitals, in Tehran and Baghdad.
Local officials said the toll was likely to rise as search and rescue teams reached remote areas. More than 70,000 people were in need of emergency shelter, the Iranian Red Crescent said.
The hardest hit province was Kermanshah, where three days of mourning have been announced. More than 236 people died in the town of Sarpol-e Zahab, about 10 miles from the Iraq border. In Kermanshah’s Dalahu county, the local governor was quoted as saying that some villages had been completely destroyed.

The earthquake is the deadliest of the year, eclipsing the one that hit Mexico City in September, and was felt as far away as Turkey and Pakistan.

More than 400 people were killed in Iran when a magnitude 7.3 earthquake jolted the country, state media said on Monday, and rescuers were searching for dozens trapped under rubble in the mountainous area. At least six have died in Iraq as well.
State television said more than 407 people were killed in Iran's deadliest earthquake in more than a decade and at least 6,600 were injured. Local officials said the death toll would rise as search and rescue teams reached remote areas of Iran.
The earthquake, which struck on Sunday, was felt in several western provinces of Iran but the hardest hit province was Kermanshah. More than 300 of the victims were in Sarpol-e Zahab county in Kermanshah province, about 15 km (10 miles) from the Iraq border.

2- زمانی که در مورد چیزی صحبت می کنیم که قبلاً درباره آن صحبت کرده ایم.
مثال:
"She"s got two children: a girl and a boy. The girl"s eight and the boy"s nine."
4- قبل از نام رودخانه ها، دریاها و اقیانوس ها از the استفاده می کنیم.
مثال:
"the Nile", "the Pacific", "the English channel"
5- از the قبل از اسامی مشخصی که می دانیم تنها یک نمونه از آن ها وجود دارد استفاده می کنیم.
مثال:
"the rain", "the sun", "the earth", "the White House"
6- قبل از صفات عالی همیشه از the استفاده می کنیم.
مثال:
"the best", "the tallest", "the most beautiful"
7- پیش از اعداد ترتیبی از the استفاده می کنیم.
مثال:
"the fifth lesson", "the ninth day", "the third chapter"
8- حرف تعریف the پیش از اسامی معنی و اسم مصدرهایی که بعد از آن ها "of" آمده باشد، مورد استفاده قرار می گیرد. (جراند کلمه ای است که نقش اسمی دارد و به ing ختم می شود. در دستور زبان فارسی به آن مصدر فعلی گفته می شود.)
مثال:
"The pronunciation of that word is very difficult."
(کلمه pronunciation یک اسم معنا است)
"The instructing of young children is difficult."
(کلمه instructing یک جراند یا مصدر فعلی است)
9- قبل از اسامی کشورها و مناطق جغرافیایی که جمع هستند از the استفاده می کنیم.
مثال:
"the United States", "the Philippines", "the Alps"
10- پیش از اسامی کتابخانه ها، موزه ها، و هتل ها از the استفاده می کنیم.
مثال:
"the Forty-Second Street Library", "the Louvre", "the Statler Hotel"
11- پیش از بعضی از قسمت های روز از حرف تعریف the استفاده می شود.
مثال:
"in the morning", "in the afternoon", "in the evening"
نکته:
حرف تعریف the تنها قبل از این بخش های روز استفاده می شود. برای کلماتی مثل night یا midnight یا noon از the استفاده نمی کنیم.
"at noon", "at night", "at midnight"
12- بعد از فعل play زمانی که معنی "نواختن" داشته باشد. یعنی همراه با یک آلت موسیقی آمده باشد.
مثال:
"play the piano", "play the violin", "play the guitar"
13- قبل از کلمه های تئاتر و سینما.
the theater --- the cinema
14- در مواقع بیان مالکیت اشیاء . ( مضاف و مضاف الیه)
the wheels of the car ---- the door of the house
15– قبل از صفاتی که اشاره به یک گروه خاص دارند.

16 – قبل از اسامی سیاره ها.
