*AITA for throwing my husband and my son out a few days before christmas?*
Husband (41) and I (38f) have two children. Our daughter Rachel (15) and our son Tim (13). Since forever I am begging my husband to do more around the house but he continues to be a lazy man child. He does the bare minimum when I force him and that’s it. And our son is learning from him. Not doing his chores, not cleaning up his messes and expecting his sister to cater him. Hubby is enabling him and secretly overrules me when I punish Tim. We had more than one argument because of their laziness. Yesterday I was shopping with Rachel and we met a friend from work and her boyfriend. So I called my husband and asked him and Tim to clean the house asap because I will bring guests. When we arrived home nearly two hours later the house was a mess. I never felt so embarrassed in my life. My friend smiled and downplayed it as normal but I was able to see the looks she exchanged with her bf. We chatted for 20 minutes after I cleaned the living room a bit and then they left. I finally had enough. I told both hubby and Tim to get the f out of my house and don’t come back until they learn to respect me and be helpful around the house. We had a bad argument and in the end they gave up and left. My son has called me since from the motel where he and hubby are staying and begged me to let him back in. I told him he can ask me in 2024 again and I might consider it. They are banned for christmas (family will gather in my house this year) and New Year’s Eve. Tim will then return, hubby I am not sure yet. My mom and my sister are against this. They think I am way to harsh, especially to Tim. But I think he needs are serious wake up call and this will be it. And I don’t give an f about hubby at this point. AITA? EDIT: the text says clearly Tim WILL return home!!!! This is just a wake up call for him. Maybe he can even return for christmas if he promises to do his chores conscientious from now on. Quick update: my son called me again. I explained the situation and what I expect from him. He agreed to sign a paper where all his chores will be listed. He also agreed to help his sister with all her chores until New Year’s Eve. What does Cramer mean by optionality? Well, each of those companies can pivot in a number of ways and not lose any of their steam in the process. Google, for example, could have a huge opportunity on its hands if it can figure out how to integrate artificial intelligence in a way consumers will love. Meta Platforms could pivot away from its metaverse. “The other six are so vast with so many divisions and so many moving parts that if they decided to split up or trim a losing division or sell something extraneous, they could propel their stocks up $42 billion, $50, $60 billion in the blink of an eye,” Cramer told viewers. 2023 was a standout year for stocks with the S&P 500 surging 25 percent, well above the average return of 10%. But it wasn’t just tech that led the gains this year -- TheStreet’s J.D. Durkin breaks down which sectors popped and which sectors flopped throughout 2023.Full Video Transcript Below: J.D. DURKIN: By most measures, 2023 has been a banner year for the stock market. The S&P 500 is up 25%, compared to the average return of about 10%. And it’s just not those splashy tech names like Nvidia and Amazon doing all the heavy-lifting, either: when you even out all the components in the S&P 500 – or, their equal weighted average – the index is still up 10% this year. Even companies with smaller market caps got in on the action late in the year, as did the good old fashioned Dow. But how did each segment within the S&P do this year? Which sectors outperformed – driving the markets to new highs – and which ones hobbled across the New Year’s finish line? As you can see here… not all sectors were created equally in this year’s market. There were three stand-out winners this year, which shouldn’t be a surprise, considering the “magnificent 7” names are all found in these three sectors: Amazon and Tesla are consumer discretionary juggernauts… Microsoft, Apple, and Nvidia are all key technology names… while Meta and Google are highly-weighed communication services companies. Four other sectors are also set to close out 2023 in the green, though trail the overall S&P performance. These include industrials and financials, which counts names like Berkshire Hathaway and JP Morgan Chase in its holdings. Materials and real estate have also both bounced off their October lows and will finish 2023 in positive territory. As for the laggards… it’s been a tough year for our final group of S&P 500 sectors. Consumer staples has been hit by Proctor and Gamble’s falling stock this year, though also includes stalwarts like Walmart and Costco. Energy and healthcare stocks are set to close the year lower, while the utilities sector is the caboose of this year’s market train: down more than 9% in 2023. 2023 will go down as a wild one for the stock market – and if you missed out, you’re probably not alone. This time last year, not many saw the market performing this well. In December 2022, Goldman Sachs forecasted that by now – December ‘23 – the S&P would end the year at 4,000.
