I can't imagine Julian saying it that way. The value of DFI is in the DeFi services that are possible. Native DeFi for DEX, loans and dStocks. Decentralized with no webfront that could be attacked or shut down. Security through touring incompleteness on the DVM.
Added with the next release increased flexibility and smart contracts based on EMV.

It’s a coin, like any other. If you have it in your wallet, you either bought/swapped for it, someone sent you some, or you minted it through a vault (which I highly doubt considering your question).

I agree with you I think we should ditch the stabilization fee and re name it
IMO a stable coin is worth only what collateral is underpinning it. The algo part is worth 0. If there is some utility then it’s has some value but the main function of a stable coin is to peg its value to a standard. Dusd can only repeg if fully colateralized. A way to repeg it would be to offer some insentive to add collateral to reach at least 100% collateralization. I don’t think that’ll happen so I won’t be buying Dusd anytime soon. It’s hurting dfi and the whole defichain ecosystems the longer it’s unresolved

Haha. Sorry. Just headed out for a drive to breakfast so a little late to reply. I don’t have a magic bullet for dUSD, it’s chugging along with everything that’s been done so far.
But dUSD is a stablecoin within the Dex as it’s meant to be for the dtoken system. While the external value of dUSD is determined by the crypto liquidity pools and of course supply and demand, the internal value is always $1. It is $1 when minted, it is $1 when trading for dstocks. It is $1 in vaults.
Like most people, I too am waiting to see where DMC takes us as all resources seem to be put there and trying to get the DMC release and hardfork out and crushing all the last minute bugs. We’re at beta 14, and devs are working continuously on it.
Even the last dfip for dUSD staking isn’t activated yet because it needs a hardfork, and the hardfork is waiting on DMC.
Call it what it is - DUSD has become a proxy trade for DFI except worse because you can’t exit it without 30% stab fee
Having said that once the initiatives reach tipping point probably the recovery will go exponential to the point of repeg
As someone who holds more DUSD than most I would feel scammed if they wrote the token off and it never recovered back to peg or being compensated in some other way for being 80% down on what was advertised as a stablecoin
