Hi! Well snapshots are taken and uploaded into AWS, if the size was fake, that would need to be adressed by Amazon. But the size should be about that yes.
Quick question, why the full node wallet? Do you run a masternode?
If not, the lightwallet can do exactly the same as the desktop wallet, and can be installed in any cellphone, giving you access to the same services of the blockchain as the full node desktop wallet.
You save time, and headaches since there is no need to download the blockchain with the lightwallet.
Possible reasons for that failure can be due to incorrect indexing, you may need to not only download the snapshot, but reindexing the entire desktop wallet, which will imply downloading effectively the full blockchain. Or, you can have closed the wallet while it was shutting down, that also corrupts the database and downloading a snapshot will not solve that. Only a full fresh instalment of the wallet (deleting all system folders - do not delete however your wallet.dat file). You may be having issues with service if you are using a VPN. Maybe even your desktop hour may be causing issues, I honestly think not, but there are instances in which for certain tasks your desktop hour can impact in some services, if not matching the expected hour and halting your attempts on certain tasks.
You need to check all this and make sure everything adds up.
