tootik is a federated nanoblogging service for the small internet.
tootik allows people to participate in the fediverse using their Gemini, Gopher or Finger client of choice and makes the fediverse lighter, more private and more accessible. tootik's interface strips content to bare essentials (like text and links), puts the users in control of the content they see and tries to "slow down" the fediverse to make it more compatible with the slower pace of the small internet.
It's a single executable that handles both the federation (using ActivityPub) and the frontend (using Gemini) aspects, while sqlite takes care of persistency. It should be lightweight and efficient enough to host a small community even on a cheap server, and hopefully, be easy to hack on.
tootik implements only a small subset of ActivityPub, and probably doesn't really conform to the spec.

Lemmy v0.19.6
[join-lemmy.org]
Lemmy is similar to sites like Reddit, Lobste.rs, or Hacker News: you subscribe to forums you're interested in, post links and discussions, then vote, and comment on them. Behind the scenes, it is very different; anyone can easily run a server, and all these servers are federated (think email), and connected to the same universe, called the Fediverse.
For a link aggregator, this means a user registered on one server can subscribe to forums on any other server, and can have discussions with users registered elsewhere.
The overall goal is to create an easily self-hostable, decentralized alternative to Reddit and other link aggregators, outside of their corporate control and meddling.
Each Lemmy server can set its own moderation policy; appointing site-wide admins, and community moderators to keep out the trolls, and foster a healthy, non-toxic environment where all can feel comfortable contributing.

RiV-mesh v0.4.7.18
[https://riv-chain.github.io/RiV-mesh/]
IoT end-to-end encrypted IPv6 network. First self arranging mesh network running links aggregation!
RiV-mesh is an implementation of a fully end-to-end encrypted IPv6 network, created in the scope to produce the Transport Layer for RiV Chain Blockchain, also to facilitate secure conectivity between a wide spectrum of endpoint devices like IoT devices, desktop computers or even routers. It is lightweight, self-arranging, supported on multiple platforms and allows pretty much any IPv6-capable application to communicate securely with other RiV-mesh nodes. RiV-mesh does not require you to have IPv6 Internet connectivity - it also works over IPv4.

Yggdrasil v0.5.10
[https://yggdrasil-network.github.io]
Yggdrasil is an overlay network implementation of a new routing scheme for mesh networks. It is designed to be a future-proof decentralised alternative to the structured routing protocols commonly used today on the Internet and other networks.
The highlights of Yggdrasil are that it is:
- Scalable: supports large, complex or even internet-scale topologies
- Self-healing: network responds quickly to connection failures or mobility events
- Encrypted: traffic sent across the network is always fully end-to-end encrypted
- Peer-to-peer: works entirely ad-hoc by design with no built-in points of centralisation
- Cross-platform: supported on Linux, macOS, Windows, iOS, Android and more

FEDAnet project
[http://feda.croco.net]
FEDAnet is a proposed project of a fully decentralized overlay network, which will (hopefully) let people have a full grade of communication freedom. The network is supposed to consist of nodes, each node being able to serve dozens of people. Running a node will require certain level of knowledge and some effort, while using the network as a person served by a node (a so-called point) is to take no special qualification. Technically FEDAnet is supposed to be a virtual private network (VPN), using IPv6 internally, while connecting nodes over IPv4 Internet.
The following key principles are proposed for FEDAnet:
- Plain C (may be some C++ for non-infrastructure programs), no external dependencies, statically linked executables.
- No central authority of any kind.
- Each node master is supposed to provide the access only to his/her friends and relatives. No “open”/“public” nodes, no paid access.
- A node ID is derived from the node's master secret key, which takes a notable amount of computer time to generate.
See the proposal text for details. If you're going to run your own node, you can download the key generator and run it. Chances are you'll have a reasonable node key and pre-generated challenge-response tables to the date when the phase of active testing starts.
A program that checks your connectivity conditions (the NAT type) is coming soon, watch the news.

Nebula v1.9.4
[https://github.com/slackhq/nebula]
Nebula is a scalable overlay networking tool with a focus on performance, simplicity and security. It lets you seamlessly connect computers anywhere in the world. Nebula is portable, and runs on Linux, OSX, Windows, iOS, and Android. It can be used to connect a small number of computers, but is also able to connect tens of thousands of computers.
Nebula incorporates a number of existing concepts like encryption, security groups, certificates, and tunneling, and each of those individual pieces existed before Nebula in various forms. What makes Nebula different to existing offerings is that it brings all of these ideas together, resulting in a sum that is greater than its individual parts.
Further documentation can be found here.
You can read more about Nebula here.
