🇮🇳🇵🇰What Will Taliban Do if India and Pakistan CLASH?
📈 Amid rising tensions following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed lives of 26 tourists, the Taliban condemned the massacre and expressed willingness to cooperate with India.
▪️Taliban officials called for justice, while videos of Afghan people showing solidarity with India surface on social media.
▪️Indian and Afghan top diplomats'—Anand Prakash, Secretary at Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Afghanistan's Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi—meeting highlight the potential trade and transit cooperation.
🎯Territorial CLAIMS:
The Taliban has long territorial claims against Pakistan. Afghanistan may seek to capitalise on the India-Pak escalation to seize parts of Pakistani territory.
▪️Taliban General Mobeen Khan has openly threatened an Afghan attack on Pakistan if a conflict erupts between India and Pakistan.
▪️Durand Line Dispute: The Taliban rejects the 1983 Durand Line agreement, which Taliban views as an arbitrary colonial boundary.
▪️In 2024, Taliban Foreign Minister Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai emphasised that "half of Afghanistan is separated and is on the other side of the Durand Line".
▪️Pashtun-majority Areas: Taliban claims over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), regions with deep cultural and ethnic ties to Afghanistan.
▪️Taliban's alliance with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), pushing for autonomy in these areas, strengthens the potential for them to join Afghanistan.
▪️Kashmir and Wakhan Corridor: The Taliban has shown interest in the Wakhan Corridor, bordering Jammu & Kashmir and Pakistan, potentially using it to advance their territorial claims.
