In the case of crypto.com app, since it is not an exchange, you essentially block the price for a certain amount. seconds (you don't place orders, but you lock the price for 15 seconds), so the risk of the price changing during that period of time, if someone else takes it, and imposes a higher "protection" price. This is a service and as such has its costs

or use the exchange if you don't want to pay the spread
