OpenAI this week signaled it’ll soon begin charging for ChatGPT.
In an announcement on the company’s official Discord server, OpenAI said that it’s “starting to think about how to monetize ChatGPT” as one of the ways to “ensure long-term viability.”
The monetized version of ChatGPT will be called ChatGPT Professional.

Apple is working on adding touch screens to its Mac computers, a move that would defy long-held company orthodoxy and embrace an approach that co-founder Steve Jobs once called “ergonomically terrible.”
Apple engineers are actively engaged in the project, indicating that the company is seriously considering producing touch-screen Macs for the first time, according to people familiar with the efforts. Still, a launch hasn’t been finalized and the plans could change.
For more than a decade, the company has argued that touch screens don’t work well on laptops and that the iPad is a better option if someone wants a touch interface. But rivals have increasingly added touch screens to computers, putting pressure on Apple to do the same.

💰BTC UPDATE:
Finally, BTC breaks above $17k and tries to break the symmetrical triangle as well. For confirmation, we have to wait for one more daily candle to close above the triangle because we have strong resistance in the $17.3k-$17.5k range.
If it gives another daily candle close above the $17.2k level then the breakout will confirm and we can expect BTC to reach $19k-$20k in the next few weeks. But in case of rejection, things change completely. So it's better to wait for confirmation.

TikTok is making it easier for brands to work with its “megastar” creators with an update to its Creator Marketplace that now invites talent managers to oversee, execute and analyze the brand opportunities and campaigns being presented to their clients.
This week, the video entertainment platform introduced a new Talent Manager Portal as a part of the TikTok Creator Marketplace — its platform that allows brands and agencies to connect with 800,000 qualified creators around the world.
The new service allows talent managers, with creator authorization, to log into the Creator Marketplace to manage deal flow, negotiate contracts on behalf of their talent, handle the creative feedback and review various reports and metrics about a campaign’s performance.
The expansion allows TikTok to now not only serve the needs of creators with tens or hundreds of thousands of followers but those “celebrity-level” creators, as well.

A Princeton student built an app that aims to tell if essays were written by AIs like ChatGPT.
Edward Tian, a computer science student at Princeton, said he spent the holiday period building GPTZero.
The app analyzes text to see how randomly it is written, allowing it to detect if it was written by AI.

India set an “incredibly important precedent” by banning TikTok two and a half years ago, FCC Commissioner said, as he projected a similar fate for the Chinese giant Bytedance app in the U.S.
Brendan Carr, Commissioner of the FCC, warned that TikTok “operates as a sophisticated surveillance tool,” and told the Indian daily Economic Times that banning the social app is a “natural next step in our efforts to secure communication network.”
The senior Republican on the Federal Communications Commission said he is worried that China could use sensitive and non-public data gleaned from TikTok to “blackmail, espionage, foreign influence campaigns and surveillance.”
“We need to follow India’s lead more broadly to weed out other nefarious apps as well,” he said.

Meta has agreed to pay $725 million to settle a privacy lawsuit that accused Facebook of illegally sharing user data with a political consulting firm.
The settlement is "the largest recovery ever achieved in a data privacy class action and the most Facebook has ever paid to resolve a private class action," lawyers for the plaintiffs said in a court filing on Thursday.
The class-action lawsuit was originally filed in 2018 by Facebook users in California. It came after Facebook revealed it had exposed the data of 87 million users to Cambridge Analytica.
