The ICC is a mild improvement over the Genesis keys. At least part of it was elected (in a quite ad hoc fashion that the powers that be grabbed from thin air, but elected). And at least Intersect also elected the council controlling their committee seat (a bit of a meta bureaucracy “we” are building there). The three original founding entities still are not *that* open about who does what why with their Constitutional Committee keys.

Agree, it's a long process.
Somehow I like Cardano. The whole approach.
We still rely on the founding entities for bootstrapping governance. There’s no denying that and I am okay with it. They deserve the influence over the chain, despite theoretically the rights over governance would most likely be proportional to the stake volume.

That has already happened. Genesis keys are not valid anymore. But since we are in the interim period before the dReps can finally vote on everything after the next hard fork, at the moment SPOs and ICC control the things: https://constitution.gov.tools/en/interim-constitution#9-guardrails-during-the-interim-period
There are no Genesis keys in that graphics, just Genesis *coins* … and those are still with the founding entities … they are just ADA … nobody can take them from the ones holding the keys (probably some employees of the founding entities).
