When the sound is flattened into digital processes, with shifted frequencies and time stretching I’m trying to give it even more of those qualities. Sometimes I’m distancing myself from it, so it becomes a piece of discarded debris that has soul in it, a down-sampling. Or other times, it’s trying to maximize the present tense in the act of playing, and collapse that vivid color into a burnished, photocopied kind of sound.”

Tomas Bodén is a revered figure of the aural murk, known primarily for his work as Civilistjävel. It’s an alias that has spawned a catalogue of self-released peculiarities, featuring music that scorns traditional form, instead opting for unfussed symphonies of ice-hued minimalism; soft murmurs that emanate from his studio in the High Coast of Sweden.
Osaka based AOKI takamasa is known for his work as a producer, live performer, DJ and photographer, and notable debut album SILICOM in 2001. Here he presents a three hour excursion through modern classical, ambient and minimal electronics, recorded at Sound Bar Normal in Nagoya, Japan.
