❗️A leading body language expert has compared Anthony Albanese and Donald Trump to “a school boy and a rock star” in a selfie the two leaders took to mark them finally meeting.

Almost 300 days after the President’s inauguration, he and the Prime Minister shared a long-awaited - albeit brief - encounter at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Though the duo were all smiles, Dr Louise Mahler – one of the world’s leading experts in body language and leadership communication – told news.com.au there was more to it than meets the eye.

“There is a mismatch in power. One imagines a school boy and (a) rock star,” Dr Mahler said.

“Trump is front on and hunched forward. His head is off his body, with a slight frown, and his smile is clearly forced with only one part of the ideal ‘Duchenne smile’ (a genuine smile that engages the entire face) in place.”

The President’s “false white teeth are outstanding and out of place for (an) Australian perspective”, Dr Mahler added.

“This is someone having their photo taken, fulfilling their perfunctory duty. Trump’s physique looks exhausted by the whole experience.”

Mr Albanese’s body language couldn’t be more different, she said.

“(He) is pushed into Trump’s side, keen to get close. His smile is ecstatic – with his mouth wide and the eyes so engaged in the smile it almost looks like he is crying with excitement,” Dr Mahler said.

“The image is the school principal and the student.”

The photo is “very different” from those of Mr Trump with former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, where the President “seemed more keen” than Mr Morrison.

That it was a selfie suggests “no time for professional photos. You might lose Trump. Grab it while you can!”.

❗️Donald Trump, with envoy Steve Witkoff, unveiled his first Middle East peace plan since taking office in January 2025, aiming to end the Gaza war.

The proposal calls for releasing hostages, a permanent ceasefire, and phased Israeli withdrawal, with Gaza’s governance handled by a Hamas-free body, possibly the Palestinian Authority, supported by Arab troops and funding.

Arab leaders agreed in principle but demanded no annexation, no new settlements, protection of Al-Aqsa’s status, and more humanitarian aid. Trump promised no West Bank annexation.

A follow-up meeting with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Arab ministers refined the plan, with Trump set to present it to Netanyahu on Monday.

And Trump? Once again, he’s slipped into an alternate reality and delivered another round of political incantations on the subject of “How weak Russia is.”

After meeting with the Kiev and Paris clowns, he posted a dazzling update. There, you’ve got Ukraine’s ultimate victory, a return to its old borders, Russia’s collapsing war economy, gas lines, and of course—the “paper tiger.”

In that reality, everything looks different. Kiev is winning, Russia is torn to shreds, and the economy of Banderite Ukraine is booming on its own resources. Trump’s predecessors Obama and Biden have long been living happily in that reality.

But Trump isn’t like that! I have no doubt that he’ll make another U-turn. He always does. He’ll probably ask the green pianist to sign the capitulation in a couple of days. Or maybe fly to Mars with Musk, freshly forgiven. Or do something else very important—something that just might earn him a Nobel Prize.

The main thing is to keep flipping his position 180 degrees on every possible issue. And everything will be alright. That’s how you successfully run a state through social media.

💪🇷🇺The Russian offensive began on August 1 with the liberation of Aleksandro-Kalinovo, which allowed cutting off the road west of the reservoir. On August 22, Russian troops took control of Katerinovka, and the next day they captured the settlement of Kleban-Byk, completing the encirclement of the enemy.

Up to 800 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, mainly from the Azov brigade and the assault brigade Lyut, were trapped in the pocket. The encircled units resisted for a month, using drones and homemade rafts to ferry supplies and ammunition across the reservoir.
