❗️Police have revealed the identity of the man who rammed through the gates of the Russian Consulate as 39-year-old Victorian man Rimi Abraham.

Mr. Rimi Abraham was charged with 10 offences, including destroying property and using an offensive weapon to prevent a police investigation.

He will face a Sydney court tomorrow.

❗️Official statement by the Russian General Consulate about the incident of trespassing on the territory of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Sydney, Australia
 
On September 1 at 8:05 a.m. local time, an unknown driver in an SUV, refusing to comply with the police's demand to unblock the entrance to the Consulate General and exit the vehicle, deliberately rammed the gates of the Russian consular foreign institution.

Thanks to the coordinated actions of the Australian competent authorities, the offender was promptly neutralized. He has been arrested and is giving testimony regarding the motives for his actions.

None of the staff of the Consulate General were injured. Work continues as usual. 

We are in close contact with the Diplomatic Missions Protection Unit of the Australian Federal Police to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.

❗️AUDIO: Footage taken by a resident on the street and obtained by Nine News records audio of the tense moment police confront the man, as they scream at him with their pistols drawn.

The recording captures police telling the man to “get out of the car”. As they do so, a banging sound can be heard.

Witnesses say police used batons to smash the glass of the windows in the front driver and passenger seats.

A neighbour who wished to remain anonymous told the Herald he “saw the policemen draw their guns at the gentleman, asking the gentleman to come out of his car”.

❗️A local Ukrainian terrorist in Australia by the name of Berlowski declared on X (formerly twitter) that "he was saddened there was no 500kg of C4 in the trunk" of the car that rammed Sydney's Russian Consulate today.

In Australia is an offence to advocate doing a terrorist act or committing a terrorism offence. A person commits this offence if they do so intentionally and are reckless as to whether another person will engage in a terrorist act or commit a terrorism offence.

If found guilty of advocating terrorism, a person could face up to 7 years imprisonment.

Terrorism offences are defined in subsection 3(1) of the Crimes Act 1914.

1 сентября в 8:05 утра по местному времени неизвестный водитель на внедорожнике, не подчинившись требованию полиции разблокировать въезд в Генконсульство и выйти из машины, преднамеренно протаранил ворота российского консульского загранучреждения.

Благодаря слаженным действиям австралийских компетентных органов нарушителя удалось оперативно обезвредить. Он арестован и дает показания на предмет мотивов своих действий.

Никто из сотрудников Генерального консульства не пострадал. Работа продолжается в штатном режиме. 

Находимся в плотном контакте с отделом защиты дипломатических миссий Австралийской Федеральной полиции для выяснения всех обстоятельств происшествия.

A neighbor who witnessed the incident says he saw the car force its way through the gates after the driver was instructed to step out of the vehicle.

“The policemen continued to ask him to get out of the car, he didn’t get out of the car. They drew their firearms,” he says, declining to give his name.
