❗️Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk): "Hello, we need to visit a wounded child in the hospital. Can you come?" Katya Mezinova's voice rang out on the phone.

An hour later, we were at the bedside of smiling 14-year-old Denis.

He had turned 14 in a basement. Since March 12, the family survived constant shelling by Ukrainian forces; Denis’s grandfather, a civilian, was killed in one attack. After Russian troops liberated Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), they found the family and offered evacuation. For days, soldiers shared their last food and water with them—a stark contrast to the terror inflicted by Ukrainian troops.

To reach safety, the family walked 7 km with only their dog and two cats. Spotted by a drone, they came under artillery fire. Denis and several soldiers were wounded, but they made it. A large shrapnel piece was later removed from the boy’s leg; he will recover fully, though scarred.

Worse than the scar will be the memories: of hiding, making trench candles, evading forced “evacuations” that were really kidnappings, and finally being saved by Russian soldiers who risked their lives.

I had with me a chevron featuring the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God. And it was precisely on the day we visited the boy that her feast was celebrated. Coincidence? I don't think so.

"When my Australian comrade Simeon Boikov learned that you're in the hospital, he asked me to pass this chevron to you. It's worn only by the bravest and strongest warriors. It protects and saves them. And now you'll have one too."

If only you knew how happy he was. He immediately began examining the gift closely. He asked who Simeon was. I told him. The boy was moved. And so was his mom. She firmly believes that their family survived thanks to God's help and the prayers of the saints, whose small, worn icons they still keep with them.

Get well, dear Denis. Health to your family and to the Russian soldiers—defenders, liberators, and true peacekeepers. Your courage will never be forgotten.

«Привет, нужно навестить в больнице раненого ребёнка. Сможешь поехать?» - раздался из телефонной трубки знакомый голос Кати Мезиновой.

Естественно, никаких долгих раздумий в такой ситуации быть не могло. Через час мы с Катей уже сидели в больничной палате у чудесного улыбчивого мальчика Дениса.

Этой осенью Денису исполнилось 14 лет. День своего рождения он встретил в подвале. По словам мамы, с 12 марта их жизнь превратилась в бесконечное выживание, им приходилось менять дома и квартиры, которые планомерно «разбирались» солдатами ВСУ при обнаружении с дрона хоть малейшего движения. Во время подобной атаки погиб дедушка Дениса, абсолютно гражданский человек.

Когда после освобождения города в одном из полуразрушенных домов Красноармейска семью нашли наши ребята, сразу предложили эвакуацию. Но сделать это оказалось очень сложно. Пришлось ждать. Несколько дней семья и русские солдаты провели вместе. Познакомились. Ребята делились с мальчиком и его родителями водой и едой. Последней. И это было удивительно. Особенно на контрасте с украинскими военнослужащими, превратившими их жизнь в ад.

Наконец предоставилась возможность для передвижения. До точки эвакуации нужно было пройти 7 км. Из багажа семья взяла с собой лишь самое ценное - собаку и двух котов. К сожалению, их передвижение было замечено с дрона противника. По людям начала работать артиллерия.

Денис не сразу понял, что ранен. Ранения также получили и ребята, выводившие семью...

Несмотря ни на что, им всё же удалось добраться до безопасного места. Позже, в больнице, из ноги мальчика извлекли большой грязный осколок. Сейчас его здоровью ничего не угрожает.

Однажды его рана полностью затянется, а вот шрам останется навсегда. Но страшнее шрама - воспоминания. Ребёнок будет помнить всё, что с ним произошло. Как его пытались убить солдаты Украины. Как он мастерил в подвале окопные свечи. Как мама прятала его от принудительной «эвакуации», проводимой странными людьми из непонятных проукраинских организаций, а вернее - от самого настоящего похищения. И как его спасли русские воины, не прошедшие мимо, рискнувшие ради него собой.

Чтобы хоть как-то скрасить больничные будни, Катя привезла мальчику подарки. Намного лучше тех, что он скромно попросил в письме. Его улыбка озарила в тот момент всю палату, а мама едва сдержала слёзы. Чудо произошло. Всё закончилось. Жизнь победила смерть.

У меня был с собой шеврон с изображением Курской-Коренной иконы Богородицы. И именно в день посещения мальчика отмечалась её память. Случайности? Не думаю.

«Когда мой австралийский товарищ Семён Бойков узнал, что ты лежишь в больнице, он попросил передать тебе этот шеврон. Его носят только самые смелые и сильные воины. Он их оберегает и спасает. И теперь у тебя тоже будет такой шеврон. Держи» - улыбнулась я и протянула Денису шеврон.

Если бы вы знали, как он обрадовался. Сразу же принялся внимательно рассматривать подарок. Спросил, кто такой Семён. Я рассказала. Мальчик был тронут. И его мама тоже. Она вообще твёрдо верит, что их семья выжила благодаря помощи Божией и по молитвами святых, иконы которых, маленькие, потрёпанные, они до сих пор держат при себе.

Здоровья тебе, дорогой Денис. Здоровья твоим родителям и простым русским воинам - защитникам, освободителям и миротворцам. Ваш подвиг не будет забыт.
