​​Crypto arbitration case of CRV. The hack of Curve Finance DEX and the spreads that could be caught.

One of the largest decentralized exchanges (DEX) Curve Finance was subjected to a hack, resulting in estimated losses ranging from $41 million to $52 million. In addition, other projects using the Vyper programming language are also at risk.

Confirmation of the hack was provided by the platform's administration. According to their statement and the research of the Vyper project development team, the attacker used a backdoor vulnerability to gain unauthorized access to the smart contract.

The affected pools on Curve Finance used versions Vyper 0.2.15, 0.2.16, and 0.3.0. As a result of the attack, all mentioned pools were emptied, and the exchange is still assessing the damage. The exact amount of stolen funds remains unknown.

We often receive a question from our clients: "How can I properly conduct an arbitrage transaction by depositing a token on an exchange where I can sell it at a higher price?"

Let's figure it out together! 🥰

There are two options that can be used:

1. Withdrawal option — Start by making the initial transaction on one exchange, and if you identify an arbitrage opportunity, withdraw the tokens and USDT, then proceed with the transaction again.

This option is suitable if: 🧐

—The withdrawal fee is low, and the potential profit outweighs it.

— If you notice a good spread at the moment, you can try transferring the tokens. However, there is a risk similar to using a scanner. You might spend funds on fees without making a profit.

— If you have used a scanner and see that the spread is often between exchange 1 and exchange 2, and most of the transactions appear similar, it makes sense to hold the coins to conduct transactions as frequently as possible.

2. Non-withdrawal option — This option is straightforward. Execute a transaction from exchange 1 to exchange 2 and simply wait for an opportunity to execute a reverse transaction, either at a profit or breakeven, from exchange 2 back to exchange 1.

— This method carries minimal risks, but it may require a prolonged waiting period to execute a profitable or breakeven reverse transaction. Therefore, it is advisable to combine both approaches and analyze the circumstances to make an informed decision.

That's why today we're going to share another method you can use.

We have an interesting strategy for those who hold ARB tokens.

1. You buy ARB tokens on the Arbitrum network or on a centralized exchange (CEX) and withdraw them to an Ethereum wallet on the Arbitrum network as ARB tokens.

2. Then, you can transfer the ARB tokens from the Arbitrum network back to the ERC20 network using the official ARB token. Please note that the fee will be around $15 in the ERC20 network and $1 on the Arbitrum network.

It's important to have some Ether in the ERC20 network beforehand, approximately around $100, so that you have enough funds to complete the transfer in case of high gas fees.

3. After sending the tokens through the bridge, you'll need to wait for approximately 7-8 days or even longer before the tokens are fully transferred to the ERC20 network.

It's important to note that the spread (price difference) between these two networks is relatively stable, at least until centralized exchanges (CEX) start withdrawing Arbitrums to the Ethereum network. During this period, you can earn a profit of 10-30% per week or per cycle.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that ARB is not the only coin on the Arbitrum network, and you can find many other similar pairs. This strategy takes some time, but if you don't want to wait for the prices to align, you can set a profit of 5 to 8 percent in a trading bot to cover the commission expenses.

We tested this combination at 10 percent, transferred it to the Ethereum network, and waited for about a week before returning to the exchange and obtaining a 10 percent profit.
