What you guard today may belong to someone else tomorrow.
You spend years accumulating wealth and stay up late striving for it. Then a moment comes when you cannot take even a single coin with you. Your wealth passes from being your property to becoming an inheritance, and from your account to someone else's. Your heirs will receive it—and that is their rightful share—while you depart, having spent your life collecting it without sending ahead for yourself anything that will benefit you before Allah.
The Prophet peace be upon him said:
The son of Adam says, 'My wealth, my wealth.' But do you truly own anything of your wealth except what you ate and consumed, what you wore and wore out, or what you gave in charity and thus sent ahead for yourself?"Sahih
What you spend for the sake of Allah is what will truly remain with you, while what you merely store up will eventually belong to others. How many people thought their charity was insignificant, yet it became a means of their salvation. Charity is your lasting investment—it will neither be withdrawn nor inherited.
*Give before it is said, "He left behind wealth," and give in charity before it is said, "He has passed away."*
If Allah intends good for you, He makes your heart feel its need for Him.
Perhaps the wisdom behind the many hardships that come one after another upon a person is not to destroy them, but to keep them standing at Allah’s door. How many people rarely raised their hands in supplication, yet when life became difficult, they learned the way to the pre-dawn hours and sincere prayer. How many were completely dependent on worldly means, only to have those means taken away so that they would come to know the One who causes all things.
When hardship strikes, some people become preoccupied with asking, “Why me?” But the more important question is: “What does Allah want from me through this?”
Allah says { “Then why, when Our punishment came to them, did they not humble themselves? }
Many blessings can lead a person to forget, while some trials awaken the heart. For this reason, the righteous predecessors considered a hardship a blessing if it resulted in repentance and closeness to Allah.
If many doors are closing before you, *perhaps Allah wants you to stand at His door.*
Not Everything That Is Stolen Is Punished by the Law
Your day passes just as it does for everyone else, but the difference lies in where it goes. We waste long hours without the slightest regret, watching things that bring no benefit, moving from one video clip to another and from one news story to the next. Then, at the end of the day, we complain, “There isn't enough time!”
The reality is not that we lack time, but that so much of it is being stolen from us. The Prophet peace be upon him said:
( There are two blessings which many people waste: health and free time.”
How many people wish for just one hour to do something good? How many sick people wish they still had the strength they once possessed and then lost? When gold is lost, we search for it. When a car breaks down, we repair it. But when time is gone, none of it ever returns.
So ask yourself: Is what consumes my time truly worth taking a portion of my life?
If the unseen were unveiled, you would choose what Allah chose
How many times have we rushed for something, only to later realize that its delay was a mercy? And how many doors did we think would bring us good, only to thank Allah when they were closed?
We see only the present moment, while Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, sees the entire path. This is why Allah’s Names and Attributes are often mentioned at the end of verses—to remind our hearts that everything happening in our lives unfolds through His knowledge and wisdom. When you read:{ And Allah is Knowing of all things}know that behind every decree is perfect knowledge, and within every trial is a mercy that you may not yet be able to see.
A long journey does not mean the destination has been lost. Some blessings are so great that they can only arrive at the exact time Allah has written for them.
*Do not worry; dawn may be delayed, but the sun will rise again by Allah’s permission.*
Your status is raised when people feel safe entrusting you with their secrets.
Not everything we hear is meant to be shared, and not everything that is said is permissible to repeat. Sometimes people are not looking for a solution, an opinion, or advice; they are simply looking for a trustworthy heart that will safeguard what it hears and honor the trust placed in it.
How many relationships have been ruined, hearts broken, and trust lost because of the phrase, “Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me,” only for that secret to be revealed at the very next gathering?
The Prophet peace be upon him guided us regarding this matter, saying:
( When a man tells something and then looks around, it is a trust.) Sahih
Be a source of safety for others, for whoever protects the secrets of people is more deserving of Allah’s protection and concealment on the Day of Resurrection.
*Do not make your gatherings a passageway for other people’s secrets, for once trust is broken, it is difficult to restore.*
Being late is not a temporary circumstance; it is a repeated habit.
It is unfortunate that, for some people, being late for appointments has become something normal, even a subject of jokes under the label of “Arab time.” When you set a time and then arrive late without a valid excuse, you have not merely wasted a few minutes—you have weakened trust and given others the impression that their time is less valuable than your own. Allah praises those who honor their trusts and commitments:
"And those who are faithful to their trusts and their covenants."
The mindset that “no one arrives on time anyway” only creates more disorder and reinforces a lack of respect for time from one generation to the next. Respecting appointments is a sign of integrity, reliability, and consideration for others.
Be careful not to fall into the traits of hypocrisy that the Prophet peace be upon him warned against. Even if people do not say it to your face, repeated failure to honor promises and commitments leaves an impression that is difficult to erase.
The heart is like the earth; if it is not watered, it dries up.
We do not fear the darkness of the night, for no matter how long the night lasts, it will eventually give way to the light of dawn. No matter how intense its darkness becomes, Allah has decreed that it will come to an end. But what we should truly fear is the darkness of hearts—that darkness which extinguishes the light of insight, makes sin seem familiar, and makes acts of worship feel burdensome. Allah Almighty says:
"For indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but the hearts within the chests that grow blind."
We are careful to recharge our phones when their batteries run low, yet when faith in our hearts weakens, we often postpone recharging it for another time. The righteousness of the heart is the foundation of all righteousness, and its corruption is the root of all corruption. When the heart becomes darkened, a person may walk among people with open eyes, yet possess a heart that cannot see.
Why do some people lose the joy of what they have?
Beauty is not always found in what happens around you; often, it lies in the way you look at it. Two people may go through the same situation, yet one sees the blessing while the other sees only what is lacking. The difference is not in the event itself, but in the heart that receives it.
One of the greatest blessings is a contented soul that knows what is with Allah is better and everlasting. Such a soul is not exhausted by comparisons, nor does it allow blessings to be spoiled by constantly looking at what others possess. The Prophet peace be upon him said:
( Successful indeed is the one who embraces Islam, is provided with sufficient sustenance, and whom Allah makes content with what He has given him.” Sahih
How many people possess much, yet never feel satisfied, while others have little but their hearts are filled with peace and tranquility. Contentment is not having everything you want; it is trusting that Allah gives you what is best for you, at the time He chooses for you.
The Most Dangerous Inheritance Is the Inheritance of Sins
How many people have turned off their phones and reached the end of their lives, yet their sins continue to be reopened every day?
In an age where sharing has become easier than thinking, a person may send a video, a picture, or a song and then forget about it. But Allah says:
( Indeed, We give life to the dead, and We record what they sent ahead and the traces and effects they leave behind)
A prohibited clip may be shared in a matter of seconds, then watched by thousands for years. Every glance, every listen, and every sin resulting from it may continue to be added to that person's record.
On the other hand, someone may share a verse of the Qur’an, a reminder, or beneficial knowledge, then pass away while its reward continues to flow to them.
Before you press the “send” button, ask yourself:
Will I be happy to meet Allah with this?
Will I be pleased for it to remain in my record even after my death?
The deed ends, but its impact and legacy remains.
Not everything that mends a heart can be bought with money.
Stinginess is not only withholding your wealth. Sometimes, true stinginess is withholding a kind word when you know someone needs it. A good word is one of those rare things that make you richer the more you give. How many worried hearts have waited for a reassuring message, a supportive prayer, or a simple phrase that could restore some peace to their souls—yet we passed by them in silence? The Prophet peace be upon him said: “...and a good word is charity.”
Mending someone's heart does not reduce your balance in the least, but it may greatly increase your reward with Allah and leave an impact on your brother or sister that they never forget. So do not withhold kind words; perhaps they will be recorded by Allah as an act of charity and become a means of relief and salvation for the one who receives them.
Do not forget Surah Al-Kahf.
The day of sending prayers and peace upon the Chosen Prophet
Not everyone who starts reaches the destination; the one who is sincere keeps going.
A sign of acceptance is not that you see a dream or hear people praising you. Rather, it is that Allah grants you one act of obedience after another and that you find your heart drawing closer to Him. That is why it was said: the reward of a good deed is another good deed after it, and the consequence of a sin is another sin after it.
If you come out of a season of worship more sincere with Allah and more committed to remembering Him, then this is a hopeful sign. As for fearing that your deeds may not be accepted while continuing to do righteous deeds, this is the state of the righteous. Allah says:
{ And those who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will return to their Lord. }
So do not occupy yourself with the question, “Have my deeds been accepted?” Instead, focus on what is more beneficial: “Am I still on the path?”
“The greatest takbeer is the one that removed this world from your heart.
Eid is not for the one who wears new clothes; rather, it is for the one who feared the Day of Judgment and then returned to Allah anew. Amid the crowds of takbeerat, clothes, and photos, there are hearts that misunderstood Eid, thinking that true joy lies in appearances, forgetting that the greatest happiness is for Allah to accept you. Allah Almighty says:
‘Neither their meat nor their blood reaches Allah, but what reaches Him is piety from you.’
How many people sacrifice animals while being unable to sacrifice a sin they love? And how many proclaim the takbeer with their tongues while their hearts still glorify worldly life more than Allah? What truly matters is not what you slaughter, but what you slaughter within yourself: pride, sin, heedlessness, estrangement, or a habit that distances you from Allah.
May you be well every year.
No servant truly fears his Lord except that this world becomes insignificant to him.
In these days when good deeds are multiplied and people strive in every act of worship, there remains a feeling unlike any other: to fear Allah with a fear that reforms you, not a fear that drives you to despair. People fear poverty, illness, the opinions of others, and the future — and every fear connected to worldly matters only increases the heart in exhaustion and anxiety, except the fear of Allah. For it brings you back to Him, keeps you away from sin, and draws you closer to obedience and tranquility. Allah the Most High says:
{ But for he who has feared standing before his Lord are two gardens.}
Reverence and awe of Allah are among the greatest acts of worship, especially during seasons of obedience such as the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, when the doors of nearness to Allah are opened and the sincerity of hearts is tested. Whoever fears Allah, Allah will make all things fear him; and whoever does not fear Allah, Allah will make him fear everything.
A wise person does not neglect the days in which Allah loves good deeds the most.
Every year, days come upon people that Allah swore by and in which rewards are multiplied. Some welcome them with glorification and obedience, while others treat them like any ordinary ten days. Then, when they pass, they wish they could turn back time. Some people carefully prepare lists for travel and vacations, yet when the greatest days of this world arrive, they prepare nothing for them—no daily remembrance, no repentance, no extra prayers. Allah the Almighty says:
{By the dawn, and by the ten nights.}
How many people were with us in the previous ten days but today lie beneath the earth wishing for just one tasbihah (saying SubhanAllah). So increase during these days in: takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar), tahleel (saying La ilaha illa Allah), charity, fasting, recitation of the Qur’an, honoring your parents, and kindness to people. Perhaps a small deed may surpass the deeds of many years.
Not everyone whose provision is limited is of little worth.
Some people judge others the way they judge the covers of books: the shinier the cover, the more valuable they think what is inside must be. But time often proves them wrong, showing that the purest hearts are the most sincere. How many people have been rejected because their appearance did not please others—yet if people could see their hearts, they would feel ashamed of their judgments. Allah the Almighty says:
“Indeed, the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.”
Allah did not create someone unattractive out of inability—far exalted is He—nor did He create someone poor because His treasures are few. Rather, these are provisions and tests. So leave aside the scale by which you judge people, for the one you look down on today because of appearance may surpass you in rank before Allah. Do not mock a form its owner did not create.
*If you do not honor the creation, then honor the Creator.*
We will meet again — but where will we be?
The issue is not that we will die, for all of us will die. The real question is: where will we be after death?
We grieve the loss of our loved ones, and this is a natural human feeling. Yet this is not the greatest separation. A believer hopes to be reunited with those they love in the eternal abode. The true separation is when people part ways on the Day of Judgment—one group heading toward Paradise and another toward the Fire. Allah says:
“A party will be in Paradise and a party will be in the Blaze.”
Seeing a loved one buried beneath the earth causes pain for a while, but being deprived of Allah’s mercy is the real sorrow. True love is not satisfied with companionship in this worldly life; it seeks companionship in Paradise as well.
Therefore, let our love for our family and friends be a reason to invite them to goodness, remind them of Allah, and pray for steadfastness for ourselves and for them.
Your intelligence may falter so that Allah’s kindness becomes apparent.
We often think we are in control of everything: we calculate, plan, take precautions, and consider every possibility. Yet when something happens that we never expected, we ask ourselves, “How didn't I notice this? How did I miss it?”
A person may sometimes trust their own plans more than they trust Allah’s decree. Take the necessary means and do your best, but when destiny unfolds, do not punish yourself more than you deserve, and do not let the word “if” steal your contentment. The Prophet peace be upon him said:
{ Be keen on what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not give up. If something befalls you, do not say, ‘If I had done such-and-such, then such-and-such would have happened.’ Rather say, ‘Allah has decreed, and what He wills, He does.’Sahih
Perhaps the issue is not a lack of intelligence. Rather, the wisdom behind it is for you to learn that above every plan is a greater Plan, above every calculation is Divine Decree, and above every will is the Will of Allah, the Most High.
A year has passed, but the record has not yet been closed.
A year goes by, and we rejoice that its hardships are over and begin planning for what comes next. Yet the truth we often avoid is that the year did not leave alone—it took a portion of our lives with it. Every prayer you performed, every charity you gave in secret, every word you wrote or shared has been preserved with Allah. The same is true of sins and mistakes. Allah says:
{ And they will find what they did present before them, and your Lord does not wrong anyone.”
Hold yourselves accountable before you are called to account, and weigh your deeds before they are weighed for you. The passing of years is not merely a change in numbers; it is an opportunity for repentance and for correcting one's course.
*What has passed will not return, and the door of repentance remains open.*
Between what you love and what pleases Allah begins the Hijrah.
The Prophetic Hijrah is not merely a story that we tell and then turn the page on; it is a way of life that renews itself continually. True hijrah is the migration of the heart from disobedience to obedience, and from attachment to this world to attachment to Allah alone.
The Prophet peace be upon him migrated, leaving behind the land he loved most, in obedience to Allah's command, and from that sacrifice began the great victories. The Prophet peace be upon him said:
"…And the emigrant (muhajir) is the one who abandons what Allah has forbidden."
Every day that you resist a desire for the sake of Allah, you are living the meaning of hijrah, even if you never leave your home.
We ask Allah to make us among those who migrate to Him with their hearts and deeds, and to move us from a state that does not please Him to one that He loves and is pleased with.
*Every sacrifice made for Allah is a step closer to Him.*
The number of people on a path does not change the direction of the compass.
Not every crowded road is the right one, and not everything people do becomes permissible or praiseworthy simply because many are doing it. A believer measures his actions by the scale of divine guidance, for numbers are not proof of truth. How many people have recognized the truth yet abandoned it, and how many sins have become trivial in people's eyes because of the phrase, “Everyone does it.” Allah warns against following the majority when they oppose the truth:
"And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will lead you away from the path of Allah."
Do not let the crowd on the road make you forget your destination, and do not let the spread of wrongdoing convince you that it has become right. Salvation on the Day of Judgment will not be with the majority, but with those who remained steadfast upon the truth, even if they stood alone.
*Glad tidings to the strangers.*
He who watches his words preserves his dignity.
Truthfulness is the foundation upon which all other virtues are built. A brave person may pretend to be courageous, and a generous person may force himself to appear generous, but a truthful person needs no mask, because his outward actions reflect what is within him, and his tongue speaks what is truly in his heart.
Lying is the beginning of every deviation. Whoever becomes accustomed to distorting words will find it easy to distort actions and situations as well. As for the truthful person, the truth is more valuable than any temporary gain. The Prophet peace be upon him said:
"Indeed, truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise..."Sahih
Hold firmly to truthfulness. People may forgive a mistake, but they rarely forget a lie.
Do not forget to recite Surah Al-Kahf.
The day of sending prayers and peace upon the chosen Prophet .
There are people who shortened their own dreams so that yours could come true.
Perhaps your father did not give you everything you wished for, but he most likely gave you everything he could. Some fathers may not have abundant wealth, but they possess hearts that stay awake at night, enduring hardship and postponing their own dreams. Sometimes we focus on what we did not receive and forget what was sacrificed so that we could become who we are today. Allah says:
"And say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.'"
Not every act of giving is measured by what can be seen. There are fathers who spent their lives before they spent their money, exhausted their health, and then departed without asking for anything in return except to see their children well. Behind every comfort, there is someone who bore hardship.
What would make you happy for them to read about you?
A wise person is not the one who constantly talks about their deeds, but the one who works today to see the fruits of those deeds tomorrow. Every prayer offered sincerely, every tear shed in private, every sin abandoned for the sake of Allah, and every act of kindness you thought was insignificant—you will find it recorded there. Allah says:
( Here, read my record)
This is not the fleeting joy of worldly success or an achievement whose impact fades away. Rather, it is the joy of the believer on the Day of Judgment when they are given their record in their right hand and call out with happiness and pride, reaping the rewards of a lifetime of worship, patience, and striving.
*Work for the day when you will wish you had done even more good deeds in secret.*
Will a companion abandon his companion?!
To be among the companions of the Qur’an means to be with it every day. A true companion of the Qur’an is not someone who is with it one day and absent from it for days, nor someone who only opens the Qur’an on Fridays.
The companion of the Qur’an is the one whom you see with it morning and evening—reciting it, living by it outwardly and inwardly, obeying its commands and avoiding its prohibitions. And because you do not abandon it in this world, it will accompany you in your grave and in the Hereafter.
The Prophet peace be upon him said:
(( Recite the Qur’an, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection as an intercessor for its companions.)) Sahih
Build a lasting companionship with the Qur’an so that you may attain its intercession on the Day you meet Allah. *Do you not wish to be among Allah’s people and His special ones?*
“My Lord, make me steadfast in prayer, and [also] from among my descendants.”
This is a supplication that came from the heart of the Close Friend of the Most Merciful, Prophet Ibrahim , peace be upon him. He did not rely on his own righteousness or his high status before Allah. Rather, he asked Allah for steadfastness for himself and then for his descendants. The righteous are not concerned only with their own piety; they also carry concern for those who come after them. They know that wealth may be lost and positions may disappear, but prayer is the fortress which, when firmly established in the heart, brings order and goodness to all of life.
How many fathers have provided their children with things that benefit them for a few years? Yet how many righteous fathers have prayed for their children, and that supplication became a cause of their happiness and success? We spend hours searching for the best school for our children, but often forget the supplication that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) taught us—though its impact does not end when the school year ends.
There are people who wish for what you have without you even realizing it.
One of the greatest things about these blessed days is that they are days filled with remembrance of God, joy, and peace of mind. Families gather, visits become frequent, and homes are filled with life. Yet the most beautiful thing that adorns all of this is when the heart remains close to God. That is why the Days of Tashreeq are days of remembrance, gratitude, and generosity — teaching a person that religion is not separate from life, but rather refines and beautifies it. How many blessings we live with today are things others wish they could have even a small part of.
God Almighty says: “And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them.” So thank Allah for togetherness, well-being, and peace of mind, and for every blessing we became so used to that we started seeing it as ordinary. One of the most beautiful things about Eid is when the home is filled with family — so remember the blessings of Allah upon you.
*May Allah accept your worship, and may you be well every year.*
“Obedience does not deprive you; it protects you from being lost.
Whoever places the law of Allah above personal desires never truly loses, even if people think otherwise. A person may refrain from something beloved, or leave behind an opportunity that does not please Allah, only for Allah to replace it with something beyond expectation. True success does not always come from experience or skill, but from the sincerity of one’s relationship with Allah. Allah the Exalted says: {And what is with Allah is better and more lasting.}
In these days, a hidden act of obedience between you and Allah may become the reason your entire life changes. Ask yourself: Is the path you are walking truly pleasing to Allah? The world teaches people to reach their goals by any means necessary, but faith teaches you to arrive while remaining firm upon the truth.
“Someone hid their prayer for you, and its effect appeared in your life.
One of the greatest provisions is a sincere supplication raised in the heavens with your name in it — a prayer you never heard and perhaps never even knew about. The relief you waited for so long may have come because of a heart that loved you for the sake of Allah and said: ‘O Allah, ease his affairs, forgive him, and provide for him.’ Do not withhold supplications from those you love; perhaps one hidden prayer is greater in the sight of Allah than countless words. The Prophet peace be upon him said: ‘The supplication of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is answered. At his head is an appointed angel; whenever he supplicates goodness for his brother, the angel says: “Ameen, and for you the same.”’
Some blessings reach you without anyone knocking at your door; not every goodness comes with a visible reason. Enter these blessed days with a heart full of prayers for others. *Salvation may begin with a supplication known only to Allah.*
It is a loss to lose the very thing that sets you right.
One of the most amazing things about prayer is that the entire path to it is filled with rewards: ablution purifies you, your steps are raised in rank, waiting for it is written as devotion, your supplication between the call to prayer and the start of prayer is not rejected, and the angels seek forgiveness for you after the prayer. Yet someone may still say, “I do not feel the sweetness of prayer.” How can one be deprived of the sweetness of something for which Allah made everything before it and after it a mercy?
The Prophet peace be upon him said:
“If there were a river at the door of one of you in which he bathed five times a day, would any dirt remain on him?” They said, “No dirt would remain.” He said, “That is the example of the five daily prayers; through them Allah erases sins.”
Prayer is not a burden in your day; it is salvation from a Day heavier than this whole world.
*So do not turn away from a door surrounded by forgiveness.*
The poor person is not the one who lacks money, but the one who lacks good health.
If you want to know the value of something in your life, imagine it being gone. If sleep became only a wish, or someone you love was no longer there, then you would realize how rich you truly were without even noticing. Allah the Almighty says:
“Say, ‘Have you considered: if Allah made the night continuous for you until the Day of Resurrection, what god other than Allah could bring you light?’”
Allah reminds us of His blessings so that we may thank Him for them. We live surrounded by thousands of blessings: we eat without thinking, we walk without noticing, and we laugh as if it is something ordinary, while others wish for the simplest things we have. *So, praise be to Allah.*
Do not forget to read Surah Al-Kahf.
