The company revealed its data centers consumed a staggering 2.5 billion gallons of water in 2025, enough to fill thousands of Olympic-sized swimming pools.
As Big Tech races to build the infrastructure powering the AI boom, water is becoming one of the industry’s most important (and overlooked) resources.
Amazon says it’s getting more efficient, cutting water use by 2% from the previous year and relying on outside air for cooling most of the time. The company also says it’s aiming to become “water positive” by 2030.

Google has launched Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, a new voice translation system that can translate conversations in real time across more than 70 languages.
Unlike traditional translators that wait for you to finish speaking, Gemini starts translating almost immediately. It listens and speaks at the same time, creating a much more natural flow with barely any delay.
Even more impressive, it preserves the speaker’s pace, tone, and intonation, making translated conversations sound far more human.
The feature is rolling out now in Google Translate on iOS and Android.

It weighs about 3 pounds and runs on roughly 20 watts of power, less than many laptop chargers. Meanwhile, the world’s most advanced AI systems depend on massive data centers consuming enough electricity to power entire cities. His argument wasn’t that humans are better computers.
It was that humans were never computers to begin with. “A machine can write a sad poem. But it cannot weep at a funeral. It can generate a love letter. But it cannot fall in love.” AI can process information at incredible speed. It can predict, calculate, and generate. But human intelligence is something different.
It’s consciousness. Emotion. Morality. Memory. Relationships. Lived experience.
As AI grows more capable, the real question isn’t: “What will be left for humans to do?”
It’s: “What does AI reveal about the uniquely human qualities that cannot be replicated?” Curiosity. Wisdom. Empathy. Judgment. Critical thinking. These aren’t soft skills anymore. They’re becoming the most valuable skills. Build the technology. Use the technology.
But don’t forget HI, human imagination, human inspiration, and human connection.

A new analysis from SemiAnalysis found that power users can extract far more value in AI tokens than they pay for.
• ChatGPT Plus ($20/month) delivers roughly $700 worth of token usage at its limits.
• ChatGPT Pro ($200/month) can provide around $14,000 worth of tokens.
• Claude Max ($100/month) shows about $2,000 in token costs.
The problem? AI companies charge a fixed monthly fee while their costs scale with how much users actually use the models.
According to the analysis, OpenAI subscriptions become unprofitable when users consume less than 15% of their allotted capacity, while Anthropic’s threshold is around 20%.
The biggest surprise: the most expensive plans may have the worst economics. At heavy usage levels, some premium tiers reportedly generate losses of hundreds of percent on a per-user basis.
