🚨 ChatGPT is working on the Voice Clips Sharing feature for MacOS (and likely it will be available on iOS as well). The new sharing button opens a pop-up, featuring the OpenAI sphere and a share button.

This feature will likely be able to capture a short "clip" from a voice conversation and make it sharable. Currently not working yet. Considering the success of Audio Overviews from NotebookLM and OpenAI's rebranding plans - this may be an interesting viral marketing hack for ChatGPT.

Besides this, Canvas creation and editing are also being tested at this moment. Currently, it is only possible to browse existing Canvases but this may change at any moment as this feature is functional on macOS already.

🚨 Nvidia highlights AI software and services at D.C. AI Summit

🔹 Nvidia is widely recognized for its highly sought-after artificial intelligence chips, but at the recent Nvidia AI Summit in Washington, D.C., the company's vice president of Enterprise Platforms, Bob Pette, highlighted its extensive software offerings. Nvidia provides various software platforms that assist a range of organizations, including AT&T, Deloitte, and research institutions like the National Cancer Institute and the SETI Institute. These technologies support diverse applications, from software development and network engineering to the search for extraterrestrial life.

🔹 Among Nvidia's software platforms are Nvidia NIM Agent Blueprints, Nvidia NIM, and Nvidia NeMo. NIM Agent Blueprints aids businesses in creating generative AI applications, while NIM facilitates the development of chatbots and AI assistants. Nvidia NeMo allows companies to build custom generative AI models tailored to their specific needs. Following this announcement, Nvidia's shares rose by 3.7%, reflecting the company’s strategy to boost revenue by encouraging reliance on its software in addition to its hardware.

🔹 Nvidia's collaborations demonstrate the practical applications of its software technologies. For instance, AT&T is partnering with Quantiphi to develop a conversational AI platform for employee assistance, and the University of Florida is enhancing its learning management system using Nvidia's tools. Additionally, Deloitte is integrating Nvidia’s NIM Agent Blueprint with its cybersecurity products, while the National Cancer Institute is leveraging these tools to streamline drug development processes. The SETI Institute is also utilizing Nvidia’s Holoscan software for space-related research.

🔹 Despite its remarkable growth, with stock prices soaring 934% over the past two years, Nvidia faces increasing competition from rivals like AMD and Intel, as well as pressure from customers developing their own AI chips. To counter this, Nvidia aims to maintain customer loyalty through its software offerings, creating recurring revenue streams. By emphasizing its software capabilities, Nvidia is not only attracting developers but also reinforcing its position as a comprehensive technology provider, rather than just a chip manufacturer. The company’s ongoing investments in AI technology are expected to help it sustain its competitive advantage in the market.

🚨 OpenAI pursues public benefit structure to fend off hostile takeovers

🔹 OpenAI is reportedly preparing to reorganize as a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), a unique corporate structure that mandates not only profit generation for shareholders but also a commitment to benefiting society. This structure requires the company to consider societal interests alongside financial performance, imposing an obligation to report its activities to both shareholders and the public. Such a shift aligns OpenAI with similar companies like Anthropic and xAI, which have also opted for this model.

🔹 One significant advantage of becoming a PBC is the protection it offers against shareholder activism. Typically, shareholder activists may challenge companies for not adhering to their fiduciary responsibilities, particularly if they invest in social issues instead of maximizing profits. By prioritizing public interest, a Public Benefit Corporation can defend its decisions and actions as aligned with its statutory goals, mitigating the risk of legal challenges from shareholders.

🔹 Additionally, this corporate structure can act as a deterrent against hostile takeover attempts. For instance, if Twitter had operated as a PBC during Elon Musk's attempted acquisition, its management could have resisted the offer by emphasizing their obligations to the public interest. This could have potentially allowed Twitter to maintain its original vision as a social network, rather than succumbing to pressures driven solely by shareholder profitability.

🚨 OpenAl Leaders Say Microsoft Isn't Moving Fast Enough to Supply Servers

🔹 In a recent investor call, an OpenAI spokeswoman expressed concerns that Microsoft is not providing the necessary computing power quickly enough for OpenAI's needs. This issue has become more pressing with the emergence of Elon Musk's new 100,000 H100 cluster, which he assembled in just four months. This rapid development has raised alarms within the industry, particularly for OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who worries that if OpenAI had committed to building a data center earlier, they could have maintained their competitive edge against faster-moving rivals.

🔹 Altman had previously urged Microsoft to expedite their support, but it appears that the corporation has not met those expectations. Consequently, OpenAI is now looking to play a more active role in connecting data centers and chip supply chains, reducing its reliance on Microsoft. Reports indicate that OpenAI is actively engaging with manufacturers and has begun hiring a team to facilitate this shift. Notably, OpenAI has secured access to Oracle's data center in Texas, previously reliant on Microsoft's facilities.

🔹 Additionally, OpenAI is in discussions with Oracle to lease a data center in Abilene, which could potentially scale up to 2 gigawatts of power, thus accommodating a significant number of GPUs. Currently, the facility is expected to consume just under 1 GW of power by mid-2026, which would enable substantial computational capabilities. This development underscores the challenges of scaling data center power efficiently.

🔹 Despite these changes, OpenAI and Microsoft are not severing ties; they are collaborating on an expansion project known as Fairwater. Microsoft intends to provide OpenAI with access to approximately 300,000 of Nvidia’s latest GPUs across two data centers by the end of next year. However, there have been disagreements regarding the project's design, with OpenAI requesting a more advanced cluster to enhance computing power. Additionally, OpenAI's non-profit organization may retain 25% ownership of commercial OpenAI during an upcoming restructuring, indicating a shift in their operational structure.

🚨 OpenAl sees increasing use of its Al models for influencing elections

🔹 OpenAI has seen a number of attempts where its AI models have been used to generate fake content, including long-form articles and social media comments, aimed at influencing elections, the ChatGPT maker said in a report on Wednesday.

🔹 Cybercriminals are increasingly using AI tools, including ChatGPT, to aid in their malicious activities such as creating and debugging malware, and generating fake content for websites and social media platforms, the startup said.

🔹 So far this year it neutralized more than 20 such attempts, including a set of ChatGPT accounts in August that were used to produce articles on topics that included the U.S. elections, the company said.

🔹 It also banned a number of accounts from Rwanda in July that were used to generate comments about the elections in that country for posting on social media site X.

🔹 None of the activities that attempted to influence global elections drew viral engagement or sustainable audiences, OpenAI added.
