117 - The Darknesses of the Earth are Five - Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymīn
ولنفرض أن حبة صغيرة في ظلمات الأرض
Let's suppose a small grain is in the darkness of the earth.
ظلمات الأرض خمسة أنواع
The darkness of the earth is of five types.
لنفرض أن حبة صغيرة منغمسة في طين في قاع البحر،
Let's say, a small grain is buried in mud at the bottom of the sea.
الظلمة الأولى: الطين المنغمسة فيه.
The first darkness is that of the soil in which it is buried in.
الثانية: ظلمة الماء في البحر.
The second is the darkness of water in the sea.
الثالثة: ظلمة الليل.
The third is the darkness of the night.
الرابعة: ظلمة السحاب المتراكم.
The fourth is the darkness of the overcrowded clouds.
الخامسة: ظلمة المطر النازل.
The fifth is the darkness of the pouring rain.
خمس ظلمات فوق هذه الحبة الصغيرة؛ والله عز وجل يعلمها.
Five levels of darknesses above this small grain and Allah ﷻ knows it (this grain).
(وَلا حَبَّةٍ فِي ظُلُمَاتِ الْأَرْضِ وَلا رَطْبٍ وَلا يَابِسٍ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ مُبِينٍ) [الأنعام: ٥٩]
He ﷻ says, "There is not a grain in the darkness of the earth or anything fresh or dry, but is written in a Clear Record." [Al-An'ām: 59]
مكتوب، بين، ظاهر، معلوم عند رب العالمين عز وجل.
It is written, clear, evident, and well-known with the Rabb ﷻ of al-'ālamīn (all created things).

“Jihaad against the nafs (soul) and its whims and desires is the foundation of jihaad against the unbelievers and the hypocrites. Indeed a person will not have the ability to wage jihaad against them, until he wages jihaad against his own soul and its whims and desires first.”

By Allaah! If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep a lot, and you would not take delight in women in their beds, but rather would go to the wilderness and implore Allaah for help.”

Whatever harm and hardship has befallen the people in their wealth or security, individuals or societies is due to their sins and their having neglected the commands of Allaah and his prescribed laws, and their seeking judgement amongst the people by other than the prescribed laws of Allaah – who created all of creation and was more merciful to them than their mothers and fathers, and He is the One who knows better than themselves what is most beneficial for them.

Mentioned in ‘Musnad’ of Imam Ahmad and ‘Shu’ab al-Eeman’ by Bayhaqi with a good Isnaad from Assim bin Bahdalah from Abu Salih from Umm Hani bint Abu Talib who said:
‘The Messenger of Allaah walked past me so I said: ‘Indeed I have become old and weak – or something similar to this – then he ordered me with an action which I should do while I am sitting.
He –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– said:
‘Say Subhana Allaah one hundred times, indeed it is equivalent to freeing one hundred slaves from the offspring of Isma’eel. And
Say Alhamdulillaah one hundred times, it is the equivalent to one hundred horses saddled with reins ready to carry a person in the path of Allaah. And
Say Allaahu akbar one hundred times, since it is the equivalent to one hundred camels slaughtered for the sake of Allaah. And
Say La illaah ila Allaah one hundred times, Ibn Khalf (the narrator from Aasim) said: I think he said: it fills what is between the heavens and the earth and on that day no one will have an action raised except the one who came with the like of it.’
Al-Mundhari said: Ahmad collected it with a Hasan Isnad and the ‘allaama al-Albaani declared its Isnad Hasan.
Reflect upon this great reward, which is a result of these words. So whoever says Subhana Allaah hundred times then it is the equivalent to freeing a hundred slaves from the sons of Isma’eel, the offspring of Isma’eel was mentioned specifically because they are the noblest of the Arabs in lineage. Whoever says Alhamdulillaah a hundred times then he will have the reward as the one who gave charity of one hundred horses saddled and reined ready to carry the Mujahideen in the path of Allaah. Whoever says Allaahu Akbar a hundred times then he will have the reward as the one who spends camels slaughtered for the sake of Allaah. Whoever said laa illaah ila Allaah a hundred times then it fills what is between the heavens and the earth and no one’s action is raised except if one comes with what was mentioned.

Shaykh Sulaymān ar-Ruhayli, [may Allāh preserve him], said:
*“Do you want to reap the rewards of seven Hajj rituals, all within the confines of your own country, in just a single day?!*
The Prophet, صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم said: ‘Whosoever leaves his home in a state of ritual purification (wudū) to perform the obligatory prayer receives a reward like a pilgrim in the state of ihrām.’ - These are five.
The Prophet, صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said: ‘Whosoever prays the dawn prayer (Fajr) in congregation, then sits remembering Allāh until the sun rises, then prays two units of prayer, will attain the complete reward of Hajj and Umrah, complete, complete.’ - This is the sixth.
The Prophet, صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, said: ‘Whosoever goes to the mosque, desiring only to learn or teach what is good, has the reward of a complete Hajj - complete.’ This is the seventh.’”

📣 📣 📣 Applications are open to the Malik Salman Academy for the Study of Arabic for non-Arabic speakers until August 19, 2023. Free courses in Saudi Arabia for men and women from 18 years old and no limit on the maximum age!

Admission Requirements:
1. The applicant must have a high school diploma or a higher educational qualification.
