Retail is still largely short USD and long gold. They have kept this position for some time against the trend of every USD asset on here. However, after discussing NFP numbers, they may be right if it comes out lower than expected. ADP and UE claims have suggested lower figures tomorrow.

USDCHF is one of the strongest readings on the EdgeFinder today. At +6, the USD is beating CHF in almost every category except retail sentiment. The seasonality section points to another positive month as the most bullish for the pair.

COT positioning was less telling this week since net change moved negative for both pairs. So, the scanner then picks which currency has a higher net long position which the USD wins. Tomorrow's NFP will be pivotal in the dollar's direction as analysts are expecting a lower number of jobs added from last month. Lower NFP could suggest weakness in the dollar as it may indicate easing from the Fed.

EUR/USD Analysis
Some unusual activity on EU pair regarding its relation to the US equities market. Stocks are falling while euro moves higher on the day. Price is currently above the 200 DMA for the first time since June of 2021. This could be an incredibly bullish technical sign that the euro is getting stronger. If the pair remains bullish, it could go up to test the 1.07s. Euro does not have any heavily impactful news this week, so most of the pair’s volatility will come from the dollar.

Gold took a hefty bounce off the lows as well. Even as bond yields rise today, the metal may have found a bottom here in the $1810s. Today's COT report will help clear the air with both indices and gold after we saw an aggressive short on the metal last week.

NAS and the rest of the indices swinging off the lows on their own trend lines or moving averages. Higher than expected NFP caused a very negative initial reaction before price reversed. Now looking towards next week's inflation expectations. Consumer and Producer prices are expected to fall on a m/m basis. If we do see a falling inflation rate regardless of higher jobs numbers, then it may be more promising for the indices

As we all know, gold has been performing extremely bearish for the past couple of weeks. Price has broken significant levels of support and continues to move lower. The EdgeFinder still ranks the metal in the bearish zone as the next few months of performance are expected to go lower.

The labor market is helping to keep gold away from a strong bear reading, as well as GDP growth. What we have seen are lower GDP and NFP since June, which is more optimistic for the metal and bearish on the dollar. With that said, a lower NFP will probably be a bullish sign for gold and bearish for dollar.

USDCAD is still bullish on the EdgeFinder after price breaks higher above a long term falling trend line. Even as yields drop again, this pair seems to be moving higher due to weakness in the oil market. Canada's economy depends on oil's strength which has been experiencing price drops.

Tomorrow's NFP report will cause further volatility in this pair. The Fed wants the job market to comply with rising interest, but last month's report beat expectations. However, NFP has fallen since June suggesting that it will likely continue lower, but it depends on tomorrow's figures.

SPX500 Analysis
The market dropped at open this morning onto the 200 DMA for support. Price still hasn’t touched the $4118 level resistance to complete the move. The index might not be able to keep up the trend it started back in October, but it is still not certain on direction. Some analysts think that the bear market is not over yet while hinting towards a continued and worsening recession. They are warning not to fall for the hype of a false bull market.

USD/JPY Analysis
Dollar-yen comes off major support on the 1D timeframe after two months of losses. Price has bounced up from the 200 DMA and might be looking to hit the 137s. PPI and ISM numbers come out this week which will be heavily impactful on the dollar’s direction. Expectations of producer prices are unchanged while ISM is lower. If price ends up holding this current level, we might be able to see a test at resistance right above.

Caution: Bizarre US Labor Data
This morning’s economic news pertaining to the United States has been rather complicated. Because of this, we would like to issue a word of caution: bizarre US labor data like this can have odd effects on price action for major pairs. On one hand, Non-Farm Employment Change (NFP, for Non-Farm Payrolls; a key gauge of private sector labor market activity) estimates for November came in far from strong. Released at 8:15 am ET by Automatic Data Processing, Inc., a meager 127,000 jobs were projected to have been added to the US economy over the latest month, a far cry from the 196,000 that had been forecast. This implies a cooling labor market, which is bearish for USD.
