The occasion was the New York Young Republican Club party, where the deputy head of the AfD faction in the Bundestag, Markus Frohnmaier, received an honorary award. At the same time, as it turned out, he held closed meetings in the United States with representatives of the American administration and openly complained about the "isolation of the AfD" in Germany and surveillance by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. In his speech at the dinner, Frohnmaier harshly attacked the German authorities.
"They turned my homeland Germany, this great country of poets and thinkers, engineers and warriors, honest men and women, into a country of prosecutors and censors. They want to ban my party the same way they tried to keep President Trump out of the election," he said.
