In the morning, a large-scale operation was carried out in Istanbul, during which the mayor of Ekrem Imamoglu was detained along with 100 other people.
According to the prosecutor's office, the investigation is being conducted in two directions: the first is related to corruption, bribery and fraud in tenders, and the second is related to the support of the PKK/kkk terrorist organization.
Imamoglu recorded a video before being detained, in which he called what was happening "a blatant injustice" and said that he would continue the fight."
His adviser Murat Ongun and campaign director Nejati Shahin were also detained as part of the investigation.

According to Turkish media reports, the arrest of Imamoglu, the municipality's press secretary Murat Ongun and about 100 others was carried out as part of an anti-corruption operation. At the same time, it became known that the mayor's house was searched.
Yesterday (March 18), it became known that Istanbul University revoked Imamoglu's academic degree due to an "error in issuing it". This decision, in accordance with Turkish law, deprives the mayor of the right to run for president of the country.
The arrest and frequent removal of his degree raise questions about what Erdogan's critics call the "political persecution" of his main rival.
