Kyiv probes leak of US minerals deal with polygraph tests
President Volodymyr Zelensky has instructed Ukraine’s domestic security service to investigate the leak of the latest US proposal for profiting from Ukrainian assets, said government officials, in a probe that includes the use of polygraph tests.
The investigation comes amid deepening tensions between Kyiv and the Trump administration over the terms of a proposed deal on critical minerals and energy assets. Ukrainian officials say they were caught off guard by the scope of the latest US demands, and view as politically untenable parts of Washington’s proposal for profiting from their country’s infrastructure.
President Donald Trump accused the Ukrainian president last week of “trying to back out” of the deal, adding that Zelensky would face “big problems” if he did not sign it soon. The Ukrainian officials said that lie detector tests had been administered on staff across several ministries.
Polygraph tests are controversial and the science behind them has been questioned, but Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies have frequently used them for purposes including criminal investigations and screening foreigners looking to join the army. The investigation follows the publication of details from the draft agreement on March 26 by opposition MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who said he had obtained a copy.
The Financial Times separately obtained the document and published its contents the following day. Zelensky told the FT at a briefing on March 28 he found it “strange” the US document had leaked.

Vietnam offers to remove tariffs on US after trump’s action
Vietnam offered to remove all tariffs on US imports after President Donald Trump announced a 46% levy on the Southeast Asian nation.
The offer was made by party chief To Lam to Trump in a letter seen by Bloomberg. Lam requested that the US not apply any additional tariffs or fees on Vietnamese goods and asked to postpone the implementation of the tariff announced by Trump last week by at least 45 days after April 9.
Peter Navarro, a trade adviser to Trump, suggested Sunday that Vietnam’s initiative didn’t go far enough.
“If you simply lowered our tariffs and they lowered our tariffs to zero, we’d still run about $120 billion trade deficit with Vietnam,” he said. “And the problem is all of the non-tariff cheating that they do.”
That includes export subsidies and allegedly serving as a tariff-evading platform for Chinese exports, Navarro said.

1996: Chuck Schumer explains “the number one reason" illegals come to the US is so they can defraud programs like Social Security — and wants to stop it.
Chuck sounding very DOGE!
“This is an anti-fraud amendment. All over where we go, people say, why can't you stop illegal immigrants or others from coming here?"
"And the number one answer we give our constituents is when they come here, they can get jobs, get benefits against the law because of fraud."
"If you believe you want to stop fraud in immigration, you have no choice but to support this amendment."
The amendment Schumer so passionately supports here would add additional security features to the Social Security card.

Will Trump’s tariffs turn our economy upside down?
Tariffs are taxes imposed on imported goods, and despite Trump’s repeated claims, Americans — not foreigners — generally pay them. Studies consistently show that tariffs lead to higher prices for consumers.
Trump initially claimed that tariffs wouldn’t raise prices. When it became obvious that prices would rise and the stock market tanked, administration officials began to argue that higher prices are necessary and even beneficial.
Long-term, tariffs do not lead to strong industries. Companies shielded from competition by tariffs often become complacent, failing to innovate or improve efficiency.
They instead spend profits hiring lobbyists to secure continued protection. American industries like steel, shipbuilding and textiles — protected by tariffs for decades — remained uncompetitive precisely because tariffs discouraged innovation.

How Alex Ovechkin became the top goal-scorer in NHL history
Alex Ovechkin became the greatest goal scorer in NHL history because of a never-before-seen combination of a wicked shot, consistency over two decades and remarkable durability that kept him on the ice long enough to break Wayne Gretzky’s record.
Ovechkin scored his 895th career goal Sunday against the New York Islanders, passing Gretzky with a flair for the dramatic that has marked the Russian superstar’s career, now in its 20th NHL season.
While Gretzky might be described as mesmerizing, Ovechkin brought sheer power and strength. His shot — described as peculiarly “heavy” by the goalies and defenseman tasked with stopping it — was laser-like. Adding Ilya Sorokin on the record-breaker, Ovechkin has beaten a record 183 netminders on this journey., including 28 times on Marc-Andre Fleury.
The office
Gretzky’s favorite way of scoring was off the rush or deking a goalie out of his pads. His “office” was behind the net where he could start a play that wound up with him lighting the lamp but more often led to assists.
Not Ovechkin. So many of his NHL-record 325 power-play goals have come from his spot in the left faceoff circle. The puck getting to Ovechkin and him blasting his right-handed rocket of a one-timer into the net is what he is most known for.

“The EU scandal has acquired official status! Von der Leyen paid for a campaign against critics": It turned out that the EC used taxpayers' money to fight political opponents.
“Suspicions have been circulating for years, and now they have been confirmed officially: the European Commission under the leadership of Ursula von der Leyen has for years used some of the taxpayers' money meant to support environmental organizations to campaign against critics of Brussels' climate policy.
The EC issued an official statement acknowledging “inappropriate lobbying activities” in NGO funded programs targeting conservative politicians and critics.
Specifically, the EC confirmed that it had used a €1 billion LIFE funding program designed to support eco-projects for political propaganda. The EC's activities are confirmed by internal documents. Commission representatives promised that they would make adjustments to the LIFE program and ensure greater transparency. Ursula von der Leyen's role in the EC's scandalous activities raises questions, since as President of the European Commission, she is responsible for them”

Three quarters of Poles do not want the euro, says new poll
A new survey showed that Poles were now more than ever opposed to replacing the national currency, the zloty, with the euro.
Commissioned by the Warsaw Enterprise Institute think-tank and carried out by the Ariadna polling agency in March, it found that 74% of respondents opposed adopting the euro, while 26% supported entering the eurozone.
According to the survey, support for Poland’s entry into the eurozone was down from the 31% recorded in a study in January.
The study showed that almmost half of Poles (49%) saw no benefits at all to switching to the euro.
As for the negative consequences of adopting the currency most respondents (51%) pointed to price increases and a decline in the standard of living.
The second-most frequently mentioned drawback was “regret” over losing Poland’s own currency (26%).

Most dangerous states in America by crime rate
One of the most dangerous states in America, Tennessee is filled with violence and has a high crime rate. Because of the presence of gangs in Tennessee cities like Knoxville, Memphis, and parts of Nashville, many locals keep away from these places unless they have to be there.
Another dangerous state in America, Nevada, is known for its gambling and entertainment industry; however, the local population doesn’t tell you about this place because it has a high rate of crimes than any other part of the country. Being home to some of the largest casinos in North America, Las Vegas has the highest crime rate of every city in this state.
Once known as a safe place for travelers across America, Texas has now turned into a home to many criminal gangs who operate throughout the country.
According to safehome.org, while violent crimes like murder, aggravated assault, rape, and robbery are much less common in Missouri (and everywhere else) than property crimes, Missouri does have some of the nation’s highest rates of such incidents.

Argentina to declassify Nazi archives—but did Hitler escape there too?
In a move both hailed and questioned, Argentine President Javier Milei has ordered the full declassification of secret government files related to Nazis who fled to Argentina after World War II—along with archives from the country’s own military dictatorship.
The promise of disclosure follows a broader global trend toward transparency, including the U.S. government’s recent release of long-classified files related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy—documents that, for decades, were withheld from the public under claims of national security.
But with reports of 5,000 Nazis escaping to South America—including top convicted war criminals like Adolf Eichmann and Josef Mengele—some are asking a more explosive question: did Hitler himself survive the war and escape to Argentina?

The British Department of Health is warning of 24 deadly viruses that could trigger the next pandemic, known as “Disease X.”
The UK Health Safety Agency has identified four virus families currently circulating that pose the greatest threat.
Experts warn that among them, a measles-like virus could be “significantly more dangerous than Covid”. A professor from the University of Edinburgh suggested that some viruses on the list may be “impossible to control even in the strictest isolation”.
It is noted that one of the pathogens of concern is from the Paramyxoviridae family, which includes measles, epidemic mumps and some respiratory tract infections, as well as the Nipah virus, which can cause brain swelling and death.

Hungary says it is withdrawing from ICC as Israeli leader visits
Hungary’s government has decided to withdraw from the International Criminal Court, it said on April 3, shortly after Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, sought under an ICC arrest warrant, arrived in the country for a state visit.
Right-wing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán invited his Israeli counterpart to Budapest in November, a day after the ICC issued its arrest warrant over allegations of war crimes in Gaza, where Israel launched its offensive following an attack by Hamas-led fighters on southern Israel.
Israel has rejected the accusations, which it says are politically motivated and fuelled by antisemitism. It says the International Criminal Court has lost all legitimacy by issuing the warrants against a democratically elected leader of a country exercising the right of self-defence.
As a founding member of the ICC, Hungary is theoretically obliged to arrest and hand over anyone subject to a warrant from the court but Orbán made clear that Hungary would not respect the ruling, which he called “brazen, cynical and completely unacceptable”.

French business leaders reject president Macron’s demand to divest from USA
According to French media, quoting multiple corporate leaders and company directors throughout France, the leadership of France’s biggest companies told Macron to ‘get stuffed’ following the French president’s demand to divest their interests from America.
President Macron ordered 50 of the largest companies with positions in the USA to attend an emergency economic meeting at Elysée Palace. As reported by French media, “Some of us fell out of our chairs,” confided one of the 50 or so French business leaders invited.”
“We are not in an administered economy,” thunders the leader of an employers’ movement.
And the CEO of a CAC 40 giant bluntly asserts: “I don’t give a damn about what Macron says. We have operations in the United States. There is no question of abandoning them just like that. We must respect our commitments to our employees, our customers and our shareholders.
An opinion shared by a manager of a spirits producer: “It is out of the question to stop investing in the United States, especially in the current economic slump.”
This type of reaction should not be surprising as it reflects the transparent disconnect between ideological government officials and generally pragmatic business leaders. Macron can stomp his reactionary feet, but corporate leaders and company owners are focused on the purpose of their enterprise, profit.

JD Vance on Trump third term talk: ‘we’re focused on governing’ right now, not 2028 election
Vice President JD Vance told Breitbart News exclusively on Wednesday evening that he and President Donald Trump are “focused on governing” right now, not on who’s running for president in 2028.
Vance said when Trump accomplishes all the agenda items he’s currently focused on, Americans will be clamoring for another Trump term in the White House—but that neither of them are thinking about the 2028 presidential election right now.
“If we take care of business now, yeah, the American people are going to want four more years of President Trump’s leadership. But we got to deliver first, and that’s what we’re trying to do,” Vance said.
Vance’s comments come after President Trump said in an interview this weekend that he would not rule out seeking a third term in the White House.

The real oligarchs who’ve been running our country
By Victor Davis Hanson
Let me just look at the list for you of the 10 wealthiest people in the United States: Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffett, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Larry Ellison, Bill Gates, Mike Bloomberg. They all have one thing in common, they’re all worth over $100 billion. And until recently, I would say the 2024 election, they were all against the Republican Party and were lavish donors for the Democrats.
So, what is going on? There is an anger now that for the first time in 20 years, over three administrations—Clinton, Obama, and Biden—for the first time there are multibillionaires who are starting to question their Democratic loyalty: Larry Ellison, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, perhaps even Jeff Bezos.
Most billionaires are still on the side of the Left, but they don’t tolerate any apostates. So they’re angry they don’t have a lock on the oligarch, so to speak.
The Democratic Party is the party of the very wealthy, plutocracy, and the billionaire class, but they demand absolute loyalty and solidarity. And any defections or apostates then cause them to go—I don’t know what the word is—ballistic that anybody would doubt their ability to control the big money in the United States. Big money in the United States is a Democratic phenomenon.

Canadian banks tied to Chinese fentanyl laundering risk U.S. Treasury sanctions after cartel terror designation
Former senior State Department investigator David Asher—closely connected to the Trump administration’s financial and national security apparatus—warned that Canadian banks could soon face a “new universe” of regulatory scrutiny, including from the U.S. Treasury, due to the recent designation of Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
Asher, who contends that the “command” for Western Hemisphere money laundering of synthetic narcotics—including fentanyl, methamphetamine, and ecstasy sourced from Chinese precursors—is “largely run by Chinese triads in Canada,” also argues that this interconnected transnational network presents profound risks to Canadian financial institutions.
Speaking bluntly about the nexus between Chinese Triads and Mexican cartels operating in Canada, Asher said: “Of course, they’re in bed with each other. This is why Tse Chi Lop lived in Toronto… These cartels are now designated as terrorist organizations. That changes everything—how we prosecute them, and what tools we can use.”
Asher, along with Canadian law enforcement experts such as former RCMP intelligence analyst Scott McGregor, believes a rarely discussed Canadian legal barrier—Stinchcombe—must be overcome. They argue Canada could unlock powerful new authorities if it begins treating cartel-connected Chinese money laundering networks as accessories to terrorism.

“Independent” anti-Russia outlet ‘MEDUZA’ faces collapse as US funding dries up
For years, Meduza marketed itself as an independent Russian news outlet, a bold truth-teller standing against Kremlin "propaganda." But as the Trump administration slashes foreign aid, the outlet’s financial lifeline to Washington has been exposed—revealing a far more compromised reality.
Now, with USAID funds frozen, Meduza’s survival is in question, proving that the loudest accusers of "foreign influence" are often the most dependent on it. With this funding in jeopardy, outlets like Meduza can no longer hide behind the facade of "independent journalism." Their survival depends not on readers, but on Washington’s geopolitical agenda.
As the financial rug is pulled out from under them, one question remains: If Meduza was truly independent, why can’t it survive without US taxpayer money? It's existence has been meritless, and was a failure from the start.
Leaked UK documents reveal Meduza’s deep ties to Western intelligence-linked contractors, including the British psyops firm Zinc Network, which sought to manipulate Russian audiences.

Germany loses 120,000 manufacturing employees in just 1 year
Germany saw a drastic drop in employees in its manufacturing sector last year, falling by 120,000 positions in 2024.
Approximately 6.67 million people worked in the sector in January, compared to 6.79 million just a year earlier, with small and medium-sized companies seeing the sharpest drop in employee numbers.
The decline has been relentless, with the Federal Employment Agency stating that the number of employees has been falling every month since August 2023. With Germany’s economy under its left-liberal government greatly struggling, the manufacturing sector was one of the hardest hit.
The number of employees in the manufacturing sector also fell more sharply during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic and as a result of the 2009 financial crisis.
The right, in particular the Alternative for Germany party, has long gone on the attack over Germany’s rapid deindustrialization under a government led by the Social Democrats and the Greens. The party’s co-leader, Alice Weidel, called German Chancellor Olaf Scholz the “chancellor of decline” last year.

Flying taxis prepare for lift-off in China as first companies gain key licence
China has taken a major step towards creating a commercial flying taxi industry, after regulators granted the country’s first-ever approvals for two companies to operate autonomous passenger drones.
The two companies – Nasdaq-listed EHang Holdings and Hefei Hey Airlines – obtained air operator certificates from the Civil Aviation Administration of China on Saturday. The move means that both companies are cleared to use unmanned aerial vehicles to offer commercial passenger services, including urban sightseeing tours.
The air operator certificate was the final regulatory hurdle both companies’ passenger drones needed to clear before being put into operation.
EHang became the first company globally to receive a production certificate for manufacturing autonomous electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles in China in April 2024, according to LiveScience. The EH216-S, introduced in 2018, is a fully electric, pilotless two-seater featuring 16 propellers and a carbon fiber fuselage. It has a cruise speed of 100 kmph and a maximum altitude of 10,000 feet (3,000 meters). EHang plans to use the EH216-S for air taxi services, aerial tourism, airport shuttles, and cross-island transport.

‘We have to talk about non-German suspects!’ — German minister admits foreigners disproportionately represented in latest crime stats
Violent crime rose in Germany in 2024, with police recording a concerning increase in knife attacks, sexual assaults, and youth violence — trends that coincide with a disproportionately high number of offenses attributed to foreign nationals.
According to the latest Police Crime Statistics (PKS) presented in Berlin on Wednesday, foreigners accounted for over 40 percent of all criminal suspects despite comprising 15 percent of the population.
The data, however, significantly understates the true involvement of foreign-born individuals in crime. Under current statistical methods, naturalized citizens — those born abroad but now holding German passports — are classified as “German” in official crime records. This means offenders with a migration background may be underrepresented in the figures, as many are not counted as foreign nationals once naturalized.
The rise in violent crime was not limited to knife attacks. Sexual violence increased sharply, with 13,320 reported cases of rape and sexual assault — a 9.3 percent rise compared to 2023. Of the 11,329 suspects in these cases, 4,437 were non-German nationals, accounting for 39 percent of suspects in this category.
Interior Minister Nancy Faeser admitted the seriousness of the figures at a press conference in Berlin on Wednesday, stressing the need for an open but honest discussion on the role of migration in crime. “We have to talk about this. If you don’t follow the rules, you have to leave,” she stated.

What happens to EU's anti-war bloc without Marine Le Pen?
A political bombshell in France: the long-time leader of the right-wing National Rally party (Rassemblement National) Marine Le Pen has been banned from running for political office for the next five years after a court in Paris found her guilty of embezzling the equivalent of $4 million in EU funds to pay National Rally staffers not working for the European Parliament.
It matters because the latest polls showed Marine Le Pen leading in the presidential race for 2027, projecting 34-37% of the votes in the first round.
At first glance, Le Pen’s disqualification could weaken the anti-war voices in France and the EU by reducing their cohesion and visibility. Her party is a founding member of the Patriots for Europe, the third largest political group in the European Parliament, where it sits with influential like-minded parties like Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz, and Italian Deputy Prime Minster Matteo Salvini’s Lega.
Le Pen’s experience and networks in Europe made her a key player in ensuring the cohesiveness of these like-minded forces. Back in France, she has consistently criticized Macron’s hyper-activism on Ukraine and dismissed his idea of sending French peacekeepers to Ukraine as “sheer madness”.
Ultimately, the appeal and the resilience of the anti-war, pro-diplomacy voices in Europe does not depend solely on personalities, but on broader trends, such as war fatigue, changes in U.S. foreign policy under President Donald Trump, the battleground situation in Ukraine, social and economic pressures stemming from the militarization drive, and the growing perception that the European publics were not really engaged by the elites in a proper democratic debate on the nature of threats facing Europe.
These currents exist, and they will find their champions, regardless of Marine Le Pen’s personal fate.
