The cherry on top is the money trail. CounteR pumped almost €7 million of EU funds into an infrastructure where the key intellectual property remains locked inside Insikt’s proprietary “NLP Engine based on Deep Learning.” The Consortium Agreement explicitly states that even project partners cannot access the source code; they only get to call the engine, not inspect it. Meanwhile, grant documents proudly note that the product will be monetised via software licenses and API subscriptions, with “optional customisation services” for extra revenue. Democracy pays for the prototype; the market sells the finished oracle back to whoever can afford it.

In August 2024, London-based Logically acquired Insikt AI, advertising its “domain-specific” models and advanced Social Network Analysis to tackle “harmful content.” The same stack built with EU money, shaped by European police, now sits inside a private company with undisclosed client lists and no obligation to notify the people it scores.

There is no mechanism to inform citizens they were processed, no independent audit of error rates, and no public debate over where this tool is already being plugged in. Police got new toys, academics got publications, vendors got assets—and citizens got a silent credit score for their beliefs, issued by an algorithm they will never see.

⚡️Two Majors #Summary for the morning of December 17, 2025

▪️ The enemy attacked with drones at night in Krasnodar Krai, targeting, among other things, an oil refinery. In the Slavyansk district, 2 people were injured, and at least 5 private homes were damaged. Fragments of drones were found in the private sector of Slavyansk-on-Kuban and the Pribrezhnoye settlement. Roofs were damaged, windows were broken. Damage to the power supply network was reported in the district center. In the Krasnoarmeysky district, fragments of drones were found at nine addresses. Drone fragments fell in the Starchikovskaya, Protichka, and Krizhanovsky settlements, and there was damage to private homes. Drones were shot down over six districts of the Rostov region, and property of a private enterprise was damaged in the Nikolayevskaya settlement of the Konstantinovsky district. Reports of air defense operations in the Saratov region were reported.

▪️ In the Belgorod- Dnestrovsky region, the enemy attacked a substation immediately after, and the power outage in the region was extended for another day. Explosions were heard in Kiev (TEC-6 area) and in Kramatorsk, and the "Geraniums" were operating on targets in the Chernigov, Sumy, and Dnepropetrovsk regions.

▪️ In the Sumy direction, the GR "North" is engaged in fierce battles with the support of aviation, artillery, and TOCs. Our forces continue to advance on several sections of the front and have reached Andreevka.

▪️ In the Belgorod region, a UAV of the AFU attacked a car on the Ustinka-Yasnye Zori road, and a couple was seriously injured. In the Gora-Podol village, a couple was also injured in a drone attack on a car.

▪️ In the Kharkov direction, the GR "North" is expanding the zone of control in the area of the liberated Volchansk. They report on advances near Staritsa, near Liman, in Vilcha, and in Volchansky Hutors. Continuing battles in the Melovoe-Khatnye area and on the Litsovsky section of the front are reported.

▪️ Southeast of Red Liman - battles in the direction of the Ozernoe settlement.

▪️ On the North direction, the Russian Army continues to push back the AFU, levelling the front and freeing up forces. The enemy admits the closure of several "pockets" in the area of the city taken by our forces.

▪️ On the Slavyansk direction, the enemy notes the intensification of the Russian Army's operations and has advanced northwest of Sacco and Vanzetti and near the Pazeno settlement.

▪️ On the Konstantinovsky direction, the Russian Army levelled the front east of the city.

▪️ North of the liberated Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), reports of battles in the area of Novoe Shakhovo (Rosa Luxemburg) are reported. On the Druzhkovsky direction, reports of battles in the area of Oktyabrskoe (Shakhovo) are reported. Constant counterattacks by the enemy indicate the desire of the enemy's command to tie up our forces in battles, despite the loss of the AFU of Krasnoarmeysk.

▪️ Continuing battles for Gulyaypole. The enemy complains that the GR "East" is stretching its reserves by engaging them in battles in the areas near Varvarovka and Dobropillia. Heavy weapons and drones are working in Gulyaypole. The situation for the AFU is characterized by the channels of the enemy as "very difficult".

▪️ On the Zaporozhye front, a new element of the situation is reports of our advance towards Lukyanovsk (northeast of Stepnogorsk, where battles continue). The AFU attempted an attack on the Zaporozhye NPP, and a communication line between the open switchgear of the nuclear and thermal power plants was damaged, the radiation background is normal. As a result of the AFU attack, the normal power supply to the city of Vasilyevka was disrupted. A car parking in the city of Vasilyevka was also attacked. A woman was killed by a drone strike in Pologi.

▪️ In the Kherson region in Kakhovka, a 78-year-old woman was injured in a shelling of an administrative building. Numerous settlements are under AFU attacks.

▪️ Yesterday, against the backdrop of the escalation of the confrontation in the Black Sea, the intensification of the MBEK actions of the enemy against our merchant fleet and the successful air operation against the bridge in Zatoka in the Odessa region, an unfortunate mishap was the detonation of a marine drone in the bay of the Novorossiysk military-naval base. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that during the sabotage, not a single ship, including a submarine, was damaged, which does not remove the question of the enemy's entry into the bay and, especially, the filming of the facility by the enemy's objective control cameras.

▪️ On the Sumy front, the GRV "North" continues offensive actions on several sections of the front. On the Tetkinsky and Glushkovsky sections, our aviation worked on the positions of the AFU in the Ryzhevka area.

▪️ In the Belgorod region, a drone of the AFU attacked a car, a man was injured. In the village of Novostroevka-First, a couple was injured in a drone attack on a moving car. Under the attacks of Gora-Podol, Sankovo, Leonovka. On the Kazinka-Borki road, an FPV drone attacked a car.

▪️ On the Kharkov front, the GRV "North" is conducting fierce battles. It is reported about the advance on the Volchansk direction at Staritsa, Prilipki, in the Volchansk Gutors and Vilcha. ▪️ Dnepropetrovsk region units of the GRV "East" crossed the Gaichur River and took a large enemy defense node in the area of a small settlement of Peschanoye. This will allow to expand the bridgehead on the west bank of the Gaichur River and continue the offensive. In the east of the Zaporozhye region, the battle for Gulyaypole continues.

▪️ On the Zaporozhye front, the storming of Stepnogorsk continues, the battles are very difficult, ours are advancing forward. In Primorsky, assault groups of the 7th Guards Motor Rifle Division (g) in close interaction with UAV operators continue to destroy the enemy and dislodge them from their positions. The enemy is throwing a large number of men, every day 2-3 groups, numbering 4-8 people, in radio interceptions conversations are heard in Georgian. As a result of the attack of the AFU on the Kamensk-Dneprovsky municipal district, a man received serious non-life-threatening injuries. In the same city, as a result of an attack by the AFU on a private house, an 11-year-old girl was injured.

🔻Today or tomorrow, we will finalize the documents. Then, the US will hold consultations with the Russians in the coming days, after which they will consult with the US President. After that, our teams will meet in the US soon. I think it might even be over the weekend;

🔻The US wants a quick end to the war, but for us, quality is important. If speed and quality coincide, we're in favour;

🔻I believe we are very close to strong security guarantees. Where there is a fifth amendment, as in NATO, that is, a mirror fifth amendment for everyone in the Alliance;

🔻The US and Ukraine support Merz's idea of a Christmas truce, but the decision depends on 'Russia's political will'";

🔻The reparation loan or other use of Russia's frozen assets is a financial guarantee of Ukraine's security. There are two scenarios:

1️⃣ In the event of the war ending, the funds will go towards the country's reconstruction;

2️⃣ In the event of continued aggression, Ukraine expects €40-45 billion in annual aid for defense and security;

Western headlines are screaming that Ukraine has “encircled” Kupyansk city… a glorified town, selling it as a nightmare for Moscow. But this is not a battlefield report. It is narrative management, timed precisely to negotiations in Berlin. Kupyansk is not Stalingrad. It is not Kursk. It is not even a decisive urban fight. It is a ruined settlement on the Oskol, a former logistics node reduced to rubble, where control is measured not in flags but in fire control, drone dominance, and whether men can be rotated without being killed.

And when even Reuters couches claims as “unverified,” you know what that means. When it hedges, pauses, and inserts distance between claims and confirmation, it is signaling that fog is being weaponised. What exists on the ground is block-by-block ruin fighting, contested neighbourhoods like Yubileynyy, clashes near Mirovoye and Radkovka, infiltration attempts, temporary interdictions. Battalion-scale collisions between exhausted units in a place that barely functions as a city.

The unit scale tells the truth the headlines obscure. Kupyansk has never hosted a force capable of deciding a front. Within the urban core, the Russian presence has been limited and exposed, with little time to dig in deeper, the town’s ruins making sustained fortification difficult, relying on fire control rather than secured occupation. With thousands tied down protecting the flanks and barely a battalion inside the city itself, Ukrainian assaults are not sweeping counteroffensives but concentrated pushes by swarms of worn formations, often built from forcibly mobilised men with minimal training, starving and thin on ammunition, cannibalized from fronts like Sumy, and thrown into an urban graveyard to manufacture leverage.

This is not manoeuvre warfare. It is attritional contact deliberately framed as momentum to serve a media and political narrative rather operational gain. What matters is that the map is not the territory. In this war, a coloured overlay often marks a brief window of drone interdiction, hours, not control. Fire control can deny movement, but without sustainment it cannot secure ground. Fire control without sustainment does not produce breakthroughs. It produces graveyards. Ukraine has been forced by its Western patrons into too many of them already.

Kupyansk does not change the war unless it becomes part of a broader operational rollback and it won't. Otherwise, it is a bad PR bargaining chip, paid for in blood.

While cameras fixate on Kupyansk, the real pressure story runs elsewhere, across a widening arc Western coverage fragments to prevent pattern recognition. West of Russian liberated Seversk, claims and denials continue, but the geometry is clear: Ukrainian forces are stretched thin, defending ground without strategic depth. Around encircled Lyman, the contest is about lines of communication and Ukranian reserve erosion, not symbolism.

Central to the Donbass arc, Pokrovsk and Mirnograd matter not because of names, but because they anchor logistics. Russian control here forces a stark contrast in how the war is being fought. Ukraine is expending irreplaceable manpower to manufacture moments, brief tactical actions designed to win optics for a day. Russia, by contrast, is trading space, fire control, and logistics denial for outcomes that compound over time. One side is managing headlines. The other is managing the war.

To the south, the picture is more dangerous still. Around Gulyaypole, pressure is persistent and cumulative, not theatrical. And beyond it lies the real anxiety Europe refuses to discuss openly, the slow, grinding push toward Zaporozhye city. This is not a sprint. It is a methodical march Westward. If current trends hold, Zaporozhye can be operationally threatened, even encircled in less than six months. That outcome would dwarf any skirmish in the small town of Kupyansk.

"Estonia has begun installing the first concrete bunkers on the southeastern border with Russia as part of the Baltic Defense Line project. At the current stage, a pilot batch of 28 structures is being deployed, seven of which are already ready for installation. This is the initial phase of a larger system of 600 bunkers, designed to strengthen the eastern flank of the EU and NATO.

The project implementation was delayed by almost a year due to procurement difficulties and the need to comply with peacetime requirements. The bunkers, which cover an area of about 35 square meters, are designed to withstand hits from 152 mm artillery shells and are part of a multi-level defense system in case of a possible aggression from Russia."

Part 2/2 That is why the Munich analogy is so dangerous. The real lesson of 1938 was never that compromise is evil. It was that moral panic and great-power games locked societies into trajectories they could no longer escape, while ordinary people paid the bill in blood, debt, and ruin. It was a warning about leaders who frame war as inevitability because they lack the courage, or the permission to negotiate peace.

Yet Merz flips that lesson backward. He turns “never again” into fuel for the very logic it was meant to restrain.

And here lies the central deception: the “end of Pax Americana” is being used not to reduce confrontation, but to internalize its costs. The Atlantic architecture remains. The sanctions machinery remains. The command habits remain. What changes is who pays, who bears the risk, and who is asked to sacrifice, while being told this is sovereignty.

That is not sovereignty. It is a higher subscription fee for a failing order, with penalties for cancellation.

The most revealing part is not what Merz says about Russia. It is what his rhetoric prepares at home, that of permanent emergency logic, narrowed speech, moralized obedience, and the normalization of coercion in the name of security.

This is how war cultures are built, sentence by sentence, until the public wakes up inside a cage and is told it’s a fortress.

Pax Americana may indeed be fading. Empires do not last forever.

But replacing it with historical hysteria, existential myth-making, and inevitability politics is not emancipation. It is Europe sleepwalking back toward its oldest nightmare, armed not with humility, but with borrowed myths and outsourced courage.

Real sovereignty would look like restraint. Real leadership would trust citizens with the truth. Real strength would refuse to turn memory into a weapon.

Merz’s speech was not a warning about the world.

It was a confession about Europe’s ruling class, what it fears, what it no longer knows how to do, and how readily it reaches for history when it has run out of truth.

The signal fire has been lit.

The only question left is whether Europeans recognize it for what it is — not a call to safety, but an invitation back into the machinery of fear, where history is no longer remembered to prevent catastrophe, but rewritten into a weapon

🇬🇧 The Telegraph reports that the US has presented Zelensky with an "ultimatum" - accept our security guarantees, otherwise you will lose them.

The Americans consider the proposed guarantees, similar to Article 5 of NATO, a "platinum standard". Sources in the US stated that this proposal has become "the biggest victory for Ukraine and for Europe to date" in the peace negotiations.

Russia is fighting a time-positive war: industrial scaling and real capacity that dwarfs the fiat, paper-tiger illusory capacity of NATO; deep manpower reserves and a level of internal cohesion sufficient to sustain a long campaign. Ukraine, by contrast, is fighting a time-negative war, with catastrophic demographic collapse, mass emigration, forced conscription, and shrinking public consent. Every Ukrainian media counteroffensive now borrows against a future that no longer exists to replenish it.

This is one of the real reasons behind Trump’s push. Less sentiment. Geometry. Timelines. Arithmetic. Washington understands that delay only makes the endgame worse, militarily and politically for project Ukraine. Europe understands this too. But Europe cannot admit it without confessing its humiliation.

So Europe clings to suicidal optics. It inflates Kupyansk. It sells illusory leverage. And it sacrifices Ukrainians to buy time, not for victory, but for narrative survival.

Here is the truth Europe works hardest to bury beneath headlines and choreographed resolve: this war no longer reflects the will of the Ukrainian people, and, in truth, it only ever did through manufactured consent that has now collapsed. Not marginally. Not ambiguously. Overwhelmingly. Even after years of saturation messaging, censorship, emergency laws, and relentless narrative conditioning, roughly four-fifths of Ukrainians now demand peace. It is devastating precisely because it persists despite one of the most intensive information campaigns the modern West has ever mounted.

Instead, men are dragged from streets and their homes, beaten, bundled into vans, forced into uniforms, and sent to the front. Videos of violent conscription squads no longer shock because they are the tragic norm.

This is not mobilisation. It is cowardly and punitive coercion, the final refuge of elites who lack legitimacy but demand sacrifice. It is the politics of cowardice, where those who made the decisions never bear the cost, and those who pay the price were never given a choice. These wars are always fought with other people’s sons, for objectives that dissolve under scrutiny, while the architects retreat behind speeches, security details, and moral posturing.

When a state must kidnap its own citizens to sustain a war, it has crossed the final moral line: it is no longer defending a nation, because it never was, but cannibalising one, deliberately sacrificing its people as a tip of the spear against a stronger Russia, to shield the reputations, fortunes, and careers of elites who will never bleed, never fight, and never answer for the ruin they leave behind.

Washington shattered Europe’s strategic autonomy years ago and quietly handed the bill to the continent. NATO expansion without strategy. Economic warfare without insulation. Energy sabotage without a contingency secured. The result was inevitable... Accelerated deindustrialisation, inflation, social fracture, political fragility. Europe emerged poorer, weaker, and strategically irrelevant, yet still clinging to the language of moral authority.

Rather than confront this collapse, Europe chose the refuge of absolutism. Negotiation became heresy. Compromise became betrayal. Peace became appeasement. Diplomacy itself was criminalised, because diplomacy invites the most dangerous question of all. What was this for?

And that question cannot be answered without consequences. Because peace does something war cannot. War suspends politics. Peace resurrects accountability.

Europe does not fear losing the war as much as it fears surviving it with memory intact.

That is why the war must continue. Not to save Ukraine, but to postpone reckoning, at the hands of Europeans.

Which brings us back to Kupyansk.

Kupyansk is not a battlefield turning point. It is a tombstone. Not only for the men buried beneath its rubble, but for Europe’s moral credibility itself.
