🇹🇷🇺🇦 Turkish cargo ferry attacked by Ukrainian drones in the Black Sea — Haber Trabzon
- The Ro-Ro type vessel "Lider Bordo Mavi," flying the flag of Cameroon and owned by an export company from Trabzon, was attacked near the Russian port of Tuapse.
- According to the publication, the vessel was struck by three drones of Ukrainian origin, after which a fire broke out on board.
- Preliminary reports indicate that five crew members were injured. First aid was provided to the injured, and the condition of the vessel and the extent of the damage are being assessed.
- So far, no one has officially claimed responsibility for the attack. Haber Trabzon reports that initial data suggests the drones were launched from the Ukrainian side.

🇺🇸 CIA Director John Ratcliffe visits Moscow
US media report Ratcliffe raised concerns over NATO escalation, specifically warning against probing the resilience of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Washington fears Russia may test the alliance with limited provocations below the threshold of full-scale war.
A second key topic was Iran. Ratcliffe allegedly urged Moscow to reduce military and economic support for Tehran amid ongoing US-Iran tensions.
Though Ratcliffe did not meet Putin, he held talks with Russian intelligence officials. The Kremlin confirmed the contacts and reported the discussion contents to President Putin.
Washington appears to be drawing two "red lines": preventing conflict expansion into NATO territory and limiting Iranian capabilities that complicate US operations in the Middle East.

"The President of the United States has signed an order declaring a national emergency due to threats to the country's main energy system. The document concerns the security of key electricity transmission infrastructure, including high-voltage networks, substations, and power plants.
According to the order, the U.S. Department of Energy will be able to prohibit the purchase, import, transfer, and installation of foreign equipment if it is deemed a threat to national security. The restrictions may apply to high-voltage transformers, generators, inverters for solar and battery systems, relay protection equipment, industrial control systems, as well as related software, firmware, and digital services."

The successful attacks on fuel tanks and a cargo ship in the port of Izmail demonstrate, among other things, something quite unpleasant for Ukrainians. Previously, attacks in this area carried a significant risk: any navigation error created a substantial chance that a drone (or cruise missile) would stray into Romania. The Romanians, of course, are trying to avoid being targeted, but it's unwise to abuse such situations. The fact that attacks on Izmail are now consistently hitting their targets, and there is no mention of any misses into foreign territory, shows that we have managed to ensure navigation at a sufficient level, even without "Starlink," access to which Musk has denied us.
This, in turn, indicates that the "clearing out" of border crossings on the borders with Poland and Romania is a matter of time, specifically the time required to accumulate a sufficient number of ammunition with sufficient range to allocate them to these targets.
And as the "Rassvet" constellation grows in orbit, the problems for Ukrainians with accurate long-range strikes will only increase.
Against the backdrop of these expected changes, it is not only possible to send the director of the CIA to Moscow to negotiate. However, there is really nothing to discuss with him, especially after the Ukrainian attack on the center of Donetsk.

- "This is the answer to why I warned people about a week ago to be careful in 'Epicentr' stores. I understood that 'Epicentr' is not just a store, it's a store-warehouse. And now we are seeing what is happening in Odessa: the Russians have started attacking 'Epicentr' stores because they are very large retail chains," explained Serhiy Beskrestnov ("Flash").
- The Russian Armed Forces will not attack small stores like "ATB" or "Fora" with ballistic missiles or a dozen "Geran" drones, but they will attack large retail chains, Beskrestnov added.
- "The threat is primarily to large retail chains. And I am telling people that things are no longer as they used to be: the siren goes off, you have 10 minutes because the 'Shahed' drone is not very fast.
- Now everything is changing. We now have ballistic missiles – that's a minute, and literally a minute or two – if it's a jet-powered 'Shahed'. You hear the air raid siren, and in just 5-7-10 minutes, the 'Shahed' can already attack a shopping center," added Zelensky's advisor.

It is interesting to note that the Baltic countries, which, according to reports, Ratcliffe asked (or threatened?) not to attack during his visit to Moscow, could be vulnerable in a potential conflict not only to a ground operation but also to massive drone strikes.
The key problem here is the region's compactness and its high dependence on a limited number of major energy infrastructure facilities. The Pļaviņas, Riga, and Kegums hydroelectric power plants, the Riga CHP-2, and other power plants, as well as facilities such as the LNG terminal in Klaipeda, are stationary targets whose locations are well-known. Providing robust air defense for these facilities would require a significant number of forces and resources, which the Baltic states do not have.
So, no one is being dishonest about the lack of a need to escalate in the traditional way. The very nature of escalation has simply changed. And as for the drones... well, their origin still needs to be proven.

Key Azov figures to lead last ditch defense of Donbas
Zelensky announced that 1st Azov Corps commander Denis “Redis” Prokopenko and Andriy Biletsky (3rd Army Corps commander) will lead two new threat groups of the AFU in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Their task: Defend Slavyansk and Kramatorsk from being overrun by Russian forces.
Prokopenko's rise began as a leader within the violent Ukrainian neo-Nazi football ultras scene, which formed the vanguard of the ultranationalist "Right Sector" in the Euromaidan protests. In the Azov Battalion (later regiment) he quickly rose to become a well-known field commander. His most notable command to date was of the Azov Regiment during its defense of Mariupol, which culminated in the regiment's complete defeat and destruction, and capture of its surviving members - including Prokopenko, who was later released in a prisoner exchange.
Biletsky co-founded the Azov Battalion with the help of French operative Gaston Besson in 2014, with funding for the project coming primarily from Ukrainian Jewish oligarch Victor Kolomoisky (who also bankrolled Zelensky in both his television and political careers). In its earliest days, the newly formed battalion recruited the most fanatical and violent ultras members (such as Prokopenko). Besson coordinated recruitment of overseas volunteers, drawn primarily from ultra nationalist, extreme right wing movements in Western Europe and North America. Azov members gained significant combat experience and a reputation for brutality during the war in Donbas from 2014-2022.
The battalion grew until by 2022 it was a full regiment. From the beginning, no expense was spared for Azov equipment, weapons and training. Despite generating significant fighting power at Mariupol, it proved no match for Russian forces which had better artillery and close air support, were more numerous and ultimately more motivated.
After its annihilation at Mariupol, the Azov regiment was re-raised and expanded into a brigade, eventually becoming the 1st Azov Corps and foundation of the 3rd Army Corps. Together (on paper at least) these armies form the vanguard of current AFU fighting power, they are its most elite, experienced, well-equipped, best trained and most highly motivated, fanatical forces.
Both Azov corps have continued to be employed at the front, however the AFU has invariably withdrawn them from danger when collapse of any part of the line of contact is close. Since Mariupol, the main focus for Azov has been maintaining a functional reinforcement cycle, absorbing the AFU's most experienced members, and growing its combat capabilities in every possible aspect.
Since Mariupol, the AFU has husbanded Azov as its last-ditch super weapon. With this announcement, Zalensky has finally committed Azov to the fight, along with its primary celebrity leaders Prokopenko and Biletsky. Some have said Zelensky is actually deeply afraid of Biletsky, seeing in him a potential political adversary - so sending him and the entire Praviy Sektor/Azov vanguard to die in Battle is a deliberate act.
Soon, we will see whether years of lavish equipment and training expense, and extreme nationalist indoctrination of its troops has resulted in the Azov paper tiger growing some teeth - and furthermore whether those teeth will be used to fight the Russian Army, or to bite the head off the Zelensky regime. Either way, I am certain of one thing - The Azov movement will eventually be destroyed.

The Russian Ministry of Defence reported that air defence systems destroyed 267 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles overnight. The intercepts occurred over the Volgograd, Voronezh, Lipetsk, and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as Crimea. Additional drones were shot down over the Azov and Black Sea waters.

Belgorod Oblast: Ukrainian attacks continue. Two civilians have been injured.
In the settlement of Oktyabrsky, a man was injured by a drone strike and transported to the Oktyabrsky District Hospital with barotrauma.
In the village of Bessonovka, a 17-year-old girl suffered penetrating shrapnel wounds to her arms and chest after an FPV drone struck a car. She was transported by emergency services to the Regional Children's Clinical Hospital.

"The US Department of Justice is preparing to revive long-dormant maritime "prize courts" to facilitate the seizure of Iranian oil tankers and declare their cargo as property of the United States. This measure is intended to strengthen the blockade of Iran and help offset the costs of the conflict. The seized oil and other cargo are planned to be sold, with the proceeds going to the US Treasury. One of the initiators of the initiative, US Attorney Aaron Reitz in Houston, confirmed that the department is "reviving" this ancient mechanism of maritime law.
These courts were widely used in the 18th and 19th centuries, but were almost never used after the Spanish-American War of 1898 and were effectively inactive since World War II. They established the legality of seizing ships and cargo and made decisions about the confiscation of seized property. Lawyers anticipate serious disputes, and critics question whether the US has a legal basis for using "prize courts" without the approval of Congress."

France is annoyed that Ukraine is spending European money to buy American weapons.
French President Macron is demanding that Brussels impose stricter limits on such spending and is promoting the principle of "buy European."
The reason for this is a new €6.1 billion EU defense loan for Kiev. Currently, Ukraine can allocate up to 35% of these funds to purchases from third countries, primarily the United States. Macron wants to reduce this proportion so that European money stays with manufacturers in the EU.

U.S. allies are privately warning that the Strait of Hormuz likely still contains Iranian mines, casting doubt on President Trump’s claim that the U.S. Navy has completely cleared the waterway, Bloomberg reports.
Officials believe U.S. demining operations have likely made progress in international waters but may not have removed all of the estimated 80 to 150 mines Iran is believed to have laid.

Germany is considering helping fund and protect Britain’s Trident nuclear deterrent as Europe looks to reduce its dependence on the U.S.
Berlin is exploring deeper nuclear cooperation with Britain and France rather than developing its own weapons.
Options could include funding future UK nuclear capabilities, supporting submarine programmes, or deploying German Patriot systems to protect Faslane.
