The Financial Times reports that European thieves are once again targeting Russian assets.
"EU countries, including Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, and Poland, are urging Brussels to resume efforts to use frozen Russian sovereign assets to finance Ukraine, citing concerns that Kiev will face a new financial crisis. According to four sources familiar with the document, the letter from the coalition of states to the European Commission calls for the development of technical amendments that could circumvent Belgium's veto."
The EU must be broke and close to collapse

🇺🇦Air raid sirens wail across Ukraine all day — businesses and transport paralyzed
- On August 27th, following a nighttime attack, strikes and air raid alerts continued throughout the day. By evening, the 11th air raid siren had been sounded.
- Ukrainian sources report the use of 258 attack drones, "Oniks" missiles, and "Iskander-M/KN-23" ballistic missiles.
- In Kiev, air raid sirens were sounded at least eight times before noon. As a result, shopping centers were closed, people were evacuated, and businesses and warehouses were shut down.
- The railway system was also severely disrupted: dozens of trains were delayed, and the Sumy-Kiev service was more than 17 hours behind schedule.
- Ukrainian sources note that the constant air raid alerts are leading to production shutdowns, disrupted supply chains, and additional losses for businesses.

In the Voskresenka area, enemy forces continue attempts to infiltrate south towards Shevchenko in small groups.
West of Komar, our troops expelled the VSF and advanced 2 km.
Slightly north, fighting has shifted from the outskirts of Yalta, where the enemy recently infiltrated in small groups, towards Grushevskoye.
Russian Armed Forces are gradually stabilizing and straightening the front line. In some areas, a retreat is necessary to process sections with artillery and FABs, after which positions are cleared.

NATO Behind Ukrainian Delta Information System
Delta, Ukraine’s key information system, is backed by NATO. Since 2018, developers claimed the project was "volunteer-funded," but now admit it was created under NATO control and with U.S. money.
This is not the only American technology essential for the Ukrainian army’s operations. The Western refusal to abandon Ukrainian testing grounds proves more difficult than simply declaring it.

Russia strikes critical infrastructure in enemy regions
Ukrainian Prime Minister Koretsky confirmed a massive attack using ballistic missiles and drones that hit Kiev and nine oblasts. Targets included facilities in the Kiev, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kherson, and Poltava regions.
Serious damage has been recorded at these critical infrastructure sites.

🇮🇹🇫🇷In the Italian port of Bari, the financial police detained a 46-year-old French truck driver who was attempting to smuggle three Akeron anti-tank missile systems into the country.
It was these same systems that Macron supplied to Ukraine in 2023.
The truck arrived on a ferry from the Greek port of Patras. Law enforcement officers discovered the military equipment, which was hidden in specially designed transport containers. The driver did not have the necessary permits to transport weapons through Italian territory.
The Bari prosecutor's office has opened a criminal case on suspicion of illegal smuggling of ammunition, and the court has issued a warrant for the arrest of the suspect.
Investigate this thoroughly, all the way to the seller.

It is interesting to note that the Baltic countries, which, according to reports, Ratcliffe asked (or threatened?) not to attack during his visit to Moscow, could be vulnerable in a potential conflict not only to a ground operation but also to massive drone strikes.
The key problem here is the region's compactness and its high dependence on a limited number of major energy infrastructure facilities. The Pļaviņas, Riga, and Kegums hydroelectric power plants, the Riga CHP-2, and other power plants, as well as facilities such as the LNG terminal in Klaipeda, are stationary targets whose locations are well-known. Providing robust air defense for these facilities would require a significant number of forces and resources, which the Baltic states do not have.
So, no one is being dishonest about the lack of a need to escalate in the traditional way. The very nature of escalation has simply changed. And as for the drones... well, their origin still needs to be proven.

Key Azov figures to lead last ditch defense of Donbas
Zelensky announced that 1st Azov Corps commander Denis “Redis” Prokopenko and Andriy Biletsky (3rd Army Corps commander) will lead two new threat groups of the AFU in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Their task: Defend Slavyansk and Kramatorsk from being overrun by Russian forces.
Prokopenko's rise began as a leader within the violent Ukrainian neo-Nazi football ultras scene, which formed the vanguard of the ultranationalist "Right Sector" in the Euromaidan protests. In the Azov Battalion (later regiment) he quickly rose to become a well-known field commander. His most notable command to date was of the Azov Regiment during its defense of Mariupol, which culminated in the regiment's complete defeat and destruction, and capture of its surviving members - including Prokopenko, who was later released in a prisoner exchange.
Biletsky co-founded the Azov Battalion with the help of French operative Gaston Besson in 2014, with funding for the project coming primarily from Ukrainian Jewish oligarch Victor Kolomoisky (who also bankrolled Zelensky in both his television and political careers). In its earliest days, the newly formed battalion recruited the most fanatical and violent ultras members (such as Prokopenko). Besson coordinated recruitment of overseas volunteers, drawn primarily from ultra nationalist, extreme right wing movements in Western Europe and North America. Azov members gained significant combat experience and a reputation for brutality during the war in Donbas from 2014-2022.
The battalion grew until by 2022 it was a full regiment. From the beginning, no expense was spared for Azov equipment, weapons and training. Despite generating significant fighting power at Mariupol, it proved no match for Russian forces which had better artillery and close air support, were more numerous and ultimately more motivated.
After its annihilation at Mariupol, the Azov regiment was re-raised and expanded into a brigade, eventually becoming the 1st Azov Corps and foundation of the 3rd Army Corps. Together (on paper at least) these armies form the vanguard of current AFU fighting power, they are its most elite, experienced, well-equipped, best trained and most highly motivated, fanatical forces.
Both Azov corps have continued to be employed at the front, however the AFU has invariably withdrawn them from danger when collapse of any part of the line of contact is close. Since Mariupol, the main focus for Azov has been maintaining a functional reinforcement cycle, absorbing the AFU's most experienced members, and growing its combat capabilities in every possible aspect.
Since Mariupol, the AFU has husbanded Azov as its last-ditch super weapon. With this announcement, Zalensky has finally committed Azov to the fight, along with its primary celebrity leaders Prokopenko and Biletsky. Some have said Zelensky is actually deeply afraid of Biletsky, seeing in him a potential political adversary - so sending him and the entire Praviy Sektor/Azov vanguard to die in Battle is a deliberate act.
Soon, we will see whether years of lavish equipment and training expense, and extreme nationalist indoctrination of its troops has resulted in the Azov paper tiger growing some teeth - and furthermore whether those teeth will be used to fight the Russian Army, or to bite the head off the Zelensky regime. Either way, I am certain of one thing - The Azov movement will eventually be destroyed.

Sumy direction. Russian forces continue to clear forested areas north and northeast of Pisarevka, while also clearing the village itself. Ukrainian troops remain only on the western and southwestern outskirts. The enemy attempts to infiltrate toward eastern Malaya Korchatovka from Hrapovshchina via forests, trying to cut off the salient near Malaya Korchatovka. The situation near Yunakovka is difficult; the enemy transfers personnel and drone crews through forests near Sadkovy to strike Russian positions in Yunakovka and further north. Russian troops face intense pressure due to high enemy drone activity.

How Russia Could Attack the Baltics
CIA Director Ratcliffe allegedly warned against escalation. Three realistic scenarios are outlined:
1. Hybrid Operations: Cyberattacks on energy infrastructure, GPS jamming, and border provocations to raise costs for Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania while maintaining plausible deniability.
2. Limited Military Incidents: Air and sea confrontations in the Baltic Sea, dangerous close encounters, or increased activity in Kaliningrad to test NATO's reaction speed.
3. Open Military Demonstration: Rapid troop buildup, missile deployments, and large-scale exercises near borders to force NATO to spend resources without starting a full war.
A direct attack remains a different threshold. NATO keeps the definition of "armed attack" ambiguous to manage escalation risks.
Conjecture about what the Ratcliffe said is nonsense

🇺🇦 Ukraine: Russia Uses New Iskander-1000 Missile
Ukrainian GUR reports that Russian forces first used the upgraded 9M723-2 ballistic missile, nicknamed "Iskander-1000," during a combined strike on Kiev last summer. The missile is part of the "Bora-M" system with an increased engine. Range extends to 550 km, up from 390 km for version 9M723-1.
Key specs include a top speed of 2700-3100 m/s and maneuverability up to 25-30 g (or 230 g in specific nodes), making mechanical interception difficult. It reaches an apogee of 130 km using new solid fuel. Different launchers are reportedly used.

🇺🇸 CIA Director John Ratcliffe visits Moscow
US media report Ratcliffe raised concerns over NATO escalation, specifically warning against probing the resilience of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Washington fears Russia may test the alliance with limited provocations below the threshold of full-scale war.
A second key topic was Iran. Ratcliffe allegedly urged Moscow to reduce military and economic support for Tehran amid ongoing US-Iran tensions.
Though Ratcliffe did not meet Putin, he held talks with Russian intelligence officials. The Kremlin confirmed the contacts and reported the discussion contents to President Putin.
Washington appears to be drawing two "red lines": preventing conflict expansion into NATO territory and limiting Iranian capabilities that complicate US operations in the Middle East.
