Latvia claims downed Russian drone
Riga reports that the Latvian Armed Forces shot down a drone over Balvi region overnight. A fighter jet was scrambled to intercept it, with officials claiming the UAV entered Latvia "due to the operation of Russian electronic warfare systems." This announcement coincides with an air raid alert in four regions bordering Russia and Belarus.
However, overnight Ukrainian forces launched strikes against Leningrad Oblast. The key question remains: did the drone deviate from its course while operating as part of a UAV group for which Riga provided an air corridor for attacks on Russian territory?

The U.S. budget deficit has climbed to a record level, according to Bloomberg.
▪️1.8 trillion dollars: that's the U.S. budget deficit for the current fiscal year. It's 5% higher than the previous year, Bloomberg notes.
▪️1.2 trillion dollars: spending related to servicing the public debt has increased by 15% and is one of the main reasons for the rise in the budget deficit.
▪️Due to the increase in spending, budget revenues have decreased as a result of the refunding of Trump's tariffs, which were canceled by the U.S. Supreme Court.
There are still 2 more months to go in the US budget cycle.

In Israel, discussions are actively underway about who will be next in terms of a new military campaign. So far, it's just "talks about the future." Syria is most often suggested. In particular, "Minister of Diaspora Affairs" Amichai Shikli (representing Likud, of course) stated today that a clash with Damascus is an absolute inevitability, since Syria today is "Gaza, but in a much more dangerous version." Unfortunately, nothing new. When war is an end in itself and serves domestic politics, who exactly to fight is not so important.
