🇷🇺 Cossack Battalion "Pokrov" Formed for Drone Operations

Ataman of the All-Russian Cossack Society, Vitaly Kuznetsov, has called on Cossacks to join the new "Pokrov" battalion within the drone forces. He emphasized that modern warriors must master high-tech equipment, unmanned systems, and electronic warfare while maintaining traditional readiness to serve.

The appeal was directed to all major Cossack hosts: Don, Kuban, Terek, Orenburg, Siberian, Transbaikal, Irkutsk, Yenisei, Ussuri, Volga, Central, Black Sea, and North-West.

Kuznetsov urged Atamans to support recruits who are disciplined, responsible, and eager to learn advanced combat technologies. The unit aims to combine historical Cossack valor with technical proficiency in contemporary warfare.

"They want to show the Russians who is in charge here," said military expert Ralph Thiele, describing the aspirations of Kiev's European sponsors.

"We have all these hotheads in Eastern Europe who also want to occasionally show the Russians who is in charge. And I don't think this contributes to either a ceasefire or the establishment of peace. No, we are in a dangerous phase, and I would like to see some sensible European politicians who can turn this escalation into negotiations. This is extremely necessary, both for Ukraine and for preserving peace in Europe."

🇺🇦 DESERTIONS FROM UKRAINIAN ARMY IN GERMANY

Hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers have fled military exercises in Germany during the war, according to Die Zeit. Since 2022, approximately 80 Ukrainian troops deserted training grounds in Saxony-Anhalt alone. Across Germany, the total number may reach hundreds.

Around 29,000 Ukrainian servicemen have undergone training in the country since 2022. The German Ministry of Defence acknowledges isolated cases but keeps no aggregate statistics. Under Ukrainian law, these individuals are classified as deserters and face up to 12 years imprisonment.

Die Zeit reports that many were conscripted rather than volunteering. Upon arrival at the Altengrabow training center, they seized the opportunity to escape.

Unusual NATO-Russia Reconnaissance Incident Near Bornholm

On June 25, a Russian corvette Sobrazitelny (Project 20380) approached Danish unmanned vessel X-Wave 01 during tests ~30km SE of Bornholm. The Russian ship sailed with AIS off and closed to ~200 meters.

The corvette launched a small UAV to inspect the Danish drone. Simultaneously, Danish sensors detected the warship via radar/optics while MyDefence equipment tracked the Russian UAV’s radio signals.

This rare mutual surveillance allowed both sides to test their systems against real adversaries. Russia observed new Danish naval tech, while Denmark validated its detection suite on an active Russian military vessel.

Crew members report severe shortages of water and supplies, broken toilets and plumbing, plummeting morale, and deteriorating psychological health. Military experts warn that such prolonged absence from land imposes a heavy psychological burden on the crew.

🇧🇾 BELARUS: 500 "Lazy and Drunken" Agrarians Sent to Military Drills

Approximately 500 workers from the agricultural industry in Belarus have been dispatched to military training camps for up to 60 days. This punitive measure targets those who performed poorly during the harvest campaign.

The conscripts will be integrated into Special Operations Forces units, undergoing intensive preparation that includes riding in armored personnel carriers, completing psychological stress courses, and training in firearms, tactics, engineering, and medical skills. Following this basic military instruction, they will be deployed to the country's southern border regions to execute combat-training tasks.

🇺🇸 US Army Dissolves Drone Experiment

The US Army is dismantling a specialized drone battalion within the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Europe. The unit, created to test FPV drones and ground robots based on lessons from Ukraine, will revert to standard airborne infantry duties.

This move reflects General Christopher LaNiv’s "return to basics" doctrine, contrasting with his predecessor Randy George’s focus on robotic warfare. Analysts cite three reasons: the belief that drones should be distributed across all units rather than centralized; logistical difficulties in scaling experimental tactics; and the view that Ukraine’s drone-heavy model is too specific for the US military’s broader capabilities.

🇷🇺 Russia Does Not Need Mass Mobilization

Nebenzya noted that officials have repeatedly confirmed no mobilization is needed. He remarked that Ukrainian reporters know more about mobilization on Ukraine than he does regarding post-election plans in Russia.

🇺🇦 Ukraine’s Economy Reels as Black Sea Port Strikes Cripple Grain Exports

Attacks on Odessa ports are costing Ukraine over 2% of GDP, according to Bloomberg. Export through these critical hubs, which handled 90% of shipments, has nearly halted.

Since August, Ukraine exported only ~500k tons of grain, just one-fifth of potential volume. Oxford Economics projects losses of 1.8% of GDP in 2026 and 2.1% in 2027. Prolonged blockade could push next year’s losses to 5.3%.

Farmers face impossible choices: store crops until capacity is exhausted or sell domestically at heavy losses.

🇷🇺Russia does not need a mass mobilization, - Russian Ambassador to the UN

- "At this point, a mass mobilization is not needed, and, as far as I know, it is not planned or expected," said Nebenzya.

- He made this statement at the UN headquarters in New York, in response to a question from a Ukrainian reporter about whether "tens of thousands of young Russians" were allegedly trying to leave through the border with Georgia (reports in Tbilisi called these claims false), fearing a new large-scale mobilization after the elections.

- "You are much better informed about what will happen after the elections than I am. Let's see what happens after them. I wouldn't say that tens of thousands of young Russians are fleeing to Georgia. You know better than anyone else in this situation what is happening with the mobilization in Ukraine," Nebenzya replied.

- He added that the lack of need for mobilization has been officially stated on multiple occasions.

Biometric Entry Denials in Russia

Approximately 70,000 foreigners were denied entry to Russia due to biometric data failures. This figure represents nearly half of the 14 million foreign nationals who passed through border checkpoints since the start of the pilot program.

The experiment collects biometric data (photos and fingerprints) at Moscow’s transport hub airports: Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky. Starting May 1, 2025, Vnukovo International Airport also joined the system. The technology was developed by the Moscow government to identify travelers during border control.
