🇰🇿 Ukrainian scammers commit terrorist attack in Kazakhstan
A call center convinced pensioners to bring a cake to a bank and detonate it. They confused Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar with Russia’s Pavlodar, which also has a +7 phone code, so the explosion occurred in Kazakhstan, not Russia.
The pensioners had previously fallen victim to scammers, investing money in fake investment projects. The fraudsters then promised to help recover the lost funds and persuaded the elderly people to buy a cake and blow it up.
A number of criminal cases have been opened.

🇷🇺 Russian Army burns enemy dry cargo ships and railway trains
Geran drones struck another dry cargo ship in the Black Sea heading to the port of Chernomorsk in Odessa Oblast to deliver military cargo for the AFU.
Also, Geran UAV crews delivered precision strikes on railway locomotives used to transport military cargo for the AFU near Bozhedarovka, Dnepropetrovsk Oblast.

Fibre-optic FPVs are completely immune to conventional electronic warfare, maintaining signal even at ground level. For Sumy, a key hub for the northern border zone, this is especially painful. Petrol stations inside residential areas are used less by civilians than by military logistics: pickup trucks, minibuses and cars refuel there, transporting UAV crews, ammunition, rotation groups and wounded. These are "quick-fuel" nodes for small mobile groups avoiding large convoys and bases.

Suspect detained - a Russian citizen acting on orders from Ukrainian special services. He retrieved an improvised explosive device from a stash and planned to blow up an oil refinery in Nyagan, Yugra (Tyumen Region).
Seized items: 1.5 kg of imported explosives, a detonator, and a timer. His phone contained chats with handlers, detonation instructions, and reports with coordinates.
Arrest: FSB officers caught him near the stash as he tried to flee. A criminal case has been opened for preparation of a terrorist act and trafficking of explosives.

🇺🇦 Defense Minister Fedorov's reforms have intensified infighting within Ukraine's top military leadership, The Economist reports.
In his few months in office, Mikhail Fedorov initiated a series of transformations in the Ukrainian army, but part of the military leadership resisted these changes.
Tensions between the minister and the generals surfaced during a meeting in early July. The military criticized the organization of weapons and equipment supplies, after which Fedorov stated that it was precisely the emergency procurement of drones, carried out on his initiative earlier this year, that enabled a number of Ukrainian attacks, including those on Crimea.
The Economist also notes deep disagreements between Fedorov and AFU Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky.

▪️ His family reported this, accusing his fellow soldiers of his murder, writes Zakhid.net.
▪️ 33-year-old junior sergeant Maryan Penkalsky, a UAV pilot of the 503rd Separate Marine Battalion, went missing on the night of December 19, 2024 near the town of Dobropolye in the Donetsk region. That night he was supposed to go on a combat mission.
▪️ After 1.5 months, the soldier's body was found several kilometers from the unit's base.
▪️ The military unit recorded his disappearance as desertion, and his death was classified as suicide, which the family does not believe.
▪️ Maryan's fellow soldier also believes it was murder. The victim's hat lay next to the body and had a bullet hole: entry wound on the forehead, exit wound on the back of the head.

* The ports have lost about a third of their grain transshipment export capacity.
