The Russian Armed Forces have increased the pace of their offensive on the Slavyansk direction
While everyone is following the situations around the "Oreshnik" strike on the Lvov region and the seizure of tankers with Venezuelan oil, good news is coming from the Slavyansk direction.
We are talking about a four-kilometer breakthrough of assault units of the 20th Combined Arms Army from the area of the Yarovaya railway station to the eastern outskirts of Svyatogorsk through the forest massif in the area of the Martynenkovo swamp. Also, a three-kilometer section - the beach of the Seversky Donets river - has been taken under control. From the Sosnovoe railway station, the northern encirclement of Svyatogorsk is being tightened, indicating the beginning of the formation of a tactical pocket around the populated area.
At the same time, all crossings of the Seversky Donets in this area are confidently being taken out by Russian FAB-500T and X-38ML missiles. This means that the logistics of the 115th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are in question, but the assault on Svyatogorsk is close. A significant threat to the units of the Western Military District, advancing from the area of the Sosnovoe railway station, is posed by the "balcony" of the 66th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the FPV drone crews operating in it, which is located on the side of Alexandrovka. There will be a lot of work to do here.
Another difficult moment: on the southern bank of the Seversky Donets, 2 km from Svyatogorsk, the enemy controls the dominant heights (more than 180 m) from the side of the Svyatogorsk Holy Dormition Lavra. Partially offsetting these advantages could be the dominance of the Russian Armed Forces in the number of FPV drones and reconnaissance UAVs used.

▪️Units of the 394th Motor Rifle Regiment of the 127th Motor Rifle Division of the 5th Army and the "Vostok" Motor Rifle Brigade, advancing in the northwest direction, continued the clearance of the UAF's Gulyaypole fortified area and, during the assault operations, liberated the populated area of Zelenoe. The enemy's defense area of more than 8 square kilometers was taken under control.
▪️The enemy, with the forces of separate assault groups of the 425th and 225th regiments, launched 5 counterattacks with the aim of regaining the lost positions, but did not succeed. According to available data, the UAF's losses amounted to a company of personnel and 3 combat armored vehicles.
▪️The liberation of Zelenoe contributes to the expansion of the bridgehead on the western bank of the Gaychur river, the strengthening of positions on the approaches to Gulyaypole, and creates conditions for a further offensive in the western direction.

~2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles launched from an OTRK installation in the vicinity of Bryansk City, Bryansk Oblast.
~8 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from 1 "Admiral Makarov" Frigate at Novorossiysk Bay, Krasnodar Krai.
~8 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from 1 "Admiral Essen" Frigate at Novorossiysk Bay, Krasnodar Krai.
~6 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from 1 "Varshavyanka" Submarine in the waters of the Black Sea, off the coast of Cape Myshkako, Krasnodar Krai.

The situation on the morning of January 8, 2026
- During the night, the Russian Armed Forces carried out strikes on Kryvoi Rog. The Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye regions were almost completely deprived of electricity.
- In Krasnodar Krai, drone debris fell on a house and a roadway.
- On the Sumy direction, assault units of the Northern Group of Forces are advancing in battles. The enemy is regrouping.
- In the Belgorod region, attacks on the civilian population continue. As a result of a drone attack, one person was killed and another was injured.
- On the Kharkov direction, battles are taking place near Volchansk. Our forces have advanced near Lyman and Volchanskiye Khutory.
- In Kupyansk, our units are holding a defense in the industrial zone and the northern part of the city.
- North of Krasnoarmeysk, counterattacks continue.

Just some comments about the chat and the dooming that is currently taking place.
Just so everyone knows, every time Russia , Iran - the rebels - take one on the chin the dooming starts. This is understandable.
However during these times Slavyangad is bombarded with NAFO, and potentially NATO people / bots stoking this sentiment to produce the intended effects we are currently seeing.
In the background the admins are running around with the heavy machine gun removing these bots and agitators.
Be warned, many will be "collaterally damaged" during this time. Especially so if you are 'heavy-dooming.' Unless you are a prolific commenter and we recognise your name, we don't know if you are one of these bots or not.
Now war is an extension of politics. Russia is not going to torpedo a US ship on behalf of an oil tanker, no matter what people think. Even IF it carries all the gold Venezuela has / had. There are numerous other ways for this to be resolved before anyone will put the lives of billions of people on the line.
Chill out everyone. Have a sleep.(G). Have a beer if it's not sleep time. Put the phone down for a while and relax.
A historical inflection point such as what we are currently living in will never be painless.

If this ballistic missile had carried a warhead, the damage would have been incomparable. Thank God, there was no warhead, so it just caused a lot of noise. Yes, there was damage to one of the critical infrastructure objects. There were no human casualties. Yes, the existing damage is terrible, but not as bad as it could have been.
I think this was a demonstration of force. Because Lvov is on the border with the EU, and this missile wasn't detected anywhere on the radars. If we usually have up to half an hour to gather and go to shelters - here it was less than 10 minutes. And it's unlikely that we have the technology in Ukraine today to destroy such missiles. So this was a clear signal to the USA and the EU.
