A British man serving in Ukraine has died after being shot in the roof of his mouth after sustaining leg injuries in an explosion - The Sun
Former Royal Marine Commando, Oliver Bovey, 27, was fighting in Donetsk, Ukraine against Russian Forces when he suffered leg injuries from an explosion.
The inquest heard how the tourniquet applied would have been enough to save Oli’s life, but the post-mortem concluded he died from a single gunshot wound “to the roof of the mouth”.
The wound was said to be consistent with that inflicted by a “high-velocity” assault rifle.
The coroner said there was “insufficient” evidence to conclude a verdict of suicide as there were no witnesses or evidence of intent.
Coroner Darren Slater told Oxford Coroner’s court: “The issue and nature of the gunshot wound to the head raises consideration maybe it was a self-inflicted gun shot.
“But to reach a conclusion of suicide, we need to determine did they intend to end their life.
“Oli sustained blast injuries to his lower legs. This is not a typical case of suicide. There isn’t evidence to sufficiently indicate Oli was responsible for the gunshot wound to his head.”
Mr Salter recognised the “uncertainty” surrounding the Oli’s death in November last year and yesterday the court heard the results of a post-mortem.
The post-mortem conducted by Dr Russell Delaney found “blast injuries” on Oli’s lower legs which were “in keeping with shrapnel – most likely an anti-personnel mine or IED that exploded under his legs.”
Dr Delaney concluded that the whilst the injuries would have caused blood loss they would not have caused immediate death.
He reported that the wounds “would have been amenable” to treatment.
The gunshot wound was not recorded in the initial post-mortem carried out by the Ukrainian authorities, they noted a tourniquet was in place and listed the cause of death as “shrapnel wounds”.
Dr Delaney said the “immediate and principle cause of death” was a “penetrating wound to the head, with entry to the roof of the mouth”.
He said that the wound was in keeping with being caused by a “high velocity assault rifle”.
“Had he survived longer, the injuries to the lower leg could ultimately have proved fatal,” the report added.
In his formal conclusion Mr Salter added: “Oliver Bovey was serving in the international legion of the Ukrainian army on the 27 November 2024.

We are facing a very specific threat because it is twofold.
It is not only about recruiting individual citizens — a kind of "disposable" agents — who are very difficult to link to their Russian handlers. Although this in itself poses a threat capable of causing significant damage to Poland's critical infrastructure and its military potential.
Among other things, they are also used as a tool — and this is, of course, my opinion, I cannot read the minds of Russian handlers and intelligence officers — but I think it is no coincidence that the nationality of these people we are talking about is Ukrainian and Belarusian.
This works very well on other fronts of the hybrid war — it contributes to the growth of distrust, hostility, and tension between Polish citizens and, for example, Ukrainian refugees and migrants.

On the night of October 29 to 30, 2025, Russian forces carried out a series of strikes on key energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. The attack was combined: strike UAVs "Geran-2", Kh-101 cruise missiles, Iskander-M/K OTRK, as well as Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles were used.

At least nine strikes were inflicted on the 750/330/110 kV "Vinnytskaya" electrical substation (6 Geran-2 UAVs and 3 Kh-101 cruise missiles). The main blow fell on the 750/330/10 kV transformer group, where two autotransformers ATDCTN-500000/750/330/10 with a capacity of 500 MVA each are located.
▪️Damage characteristics:
• thermal destruction of radiator sections, oil fire in the cooling circuit;
• partial melting of high-voltage bushings and destruction of porcelain insulators;
• deformation of portal frames and tearing off of busbars of phase "B";
• damage to disconnectors RGD-750/2500, insulator breakdown, telemechanics failure.
▪️The resulting fire was localized by duty crews, but the throughput capacity of the node decreased by 55–60%, which led to a break in transit between the South Ukrainian NPP and the Vinnytsia energy hub.
📌The station mode was switched to limited, voltage in the 330 kV networks is maintained by compensation from the southern branch.

Six UAVs struck the distribution device.
VMG-35 circuit breakers were destroyed, busbar racks collapsed, 10 kV cable lines burned out, completely disabling the facility.
The fire covered an area of about 250 m², power supply to nearby traction substations was stopped.
❗️Overall, a voltage drop to 0.65 of nominal and disconnection of several industrial and railway consumers were noted in the Nikolaev energy district.
🔻Engineering and energy assessment
Analysis of the distribution of targets and attack times indicates an attempt to destabilize interregional 750/330 kV flows and de-energize traction nodes of the southern direction.
The peculiarity of the strike is the sequential defeat of three voltage levels:
• 750 kV — disruption of power transmission balance between NPPs and consumers;
• 330 kV — transit limitation in the Nikolaiv node;
• 150–35 kV — de-energizing traction and industrial loads.
📌Such a cascading effect reduces the "rigidity" of the southwestern energy ring and increases the risk of its asynchronous operation during subsequent generation losses.

Italian defene minister Guido "Uncle Fester" Crosetto says that "unsuspecting Italians have been corrupted by Russia.

Financial Times described three scenarios of an attack on Venezuela:
"Most analysts agree that if Washington decides to attack Venezuela, there are three possible scenarios for the development of events.
The first scenario involves missile and drone strikes on targets that the US associates with drug trafficking. The second scenario is an operation to "capture and remove" Maduro or other high-ranking officials. The third scenario, considered unlikely, is a full-scale invasion similar to the operation conducted in Panama in 1989, when dictator Manuel Noriega was overthrown.

On the night of October 29 to 30, 2025, one of the largest combined strikes on generation facilities in Ukraine during the entire conflict was recorded. The main strike hit three large thermal power plants in the western and central energy belts — Ladyzhynskaya, Dobrotvorskaya, and Burshtynskaya TPP, which provide power flows to the western regions and export lines of ENTSO-E.

The facility was hit by a combined strike: 1 aeroballistic "Kinzhal" missile, 2 Kh-101 cruise missiles, and at least 10 Geran-2 UAVs. The main damage was recorded in the power output technological zone and block transformers of the 6th and 7th power units.
▪️Damage details:
• destruction of transformer TDC-250000/330, spilling 40 tons of transformer oil and fire in the bunding area;
• destruction of the oil system and generator cooling systems;
• damage to the oil pipeline trestle and cable shafts near GRU-6;
• collapse of part of the machine hall roof over an area of about 700 m², damage to the turbine generator TVV-320-2;
• rupture of the 330 kV bus duct in portal sections “A” and “B”, which took two 330 kV lines out of service.
📌As a result, the station was completely shut down, power units were put into cold reserve, and some personnel were evacuated.
Ladyzhynskaya TPP temporarily lost the function of the central node for feeding the eastern branch of the ENTSO-E energy ring, causing frequency imbalance and forced restrictions on electricity exports.
🔻Dobrotvorskaya TPP, Lvov region (05:10-06:25)

The facility was hit by two missile strikes (1 "Kinzhal", 1 Kh-101) and at least 12 Geran-2 UAV strikes.
Block transformers of 150 MVA, the station's oil system, and the building of the own needs switchboard were damaged.
▪️Technical consequences:
• oil fire in transformer TDTN-125000/220, destruction of radiator section and oil pipelines;
• damage to the cable tunnel between GRU and 220 kV outdoor switchgear, destruction of communication and remote control cables;
• power outage of 220 kV feeders in the directions Dobrotvor – Lvov, Dobrotvor – Chervonograd;
• deformation of support portals and short circuit on phases “B” and “C”.
📌As a result, the station was completely de-energized, power supply to the energy system is currently absent. The reserve mode on the 220 kV lines “Dobrotvor – Burshtyn” was disrupted, increasing the load on the western ring and causing voltage to drop to 0.75 of nominal.
🔻BurshtynskaYa TPP, Ivano-Frankovsk region (04:35–08:10)

The main target of the night attack was Burshtynska TPP, which provides the export contour “Burshtyn Island” in ENTSO-E. The facility was hit by at least 60 strikes, including 1 "Kinzhal", 3 Kh-101, and about 50 Geran-2 UAVs.
▪️Damage recorded to:
• machine hall, where the roof collapsed near turbine generators of blocks №4–6;
• transformers of blocks №5 and №6 (TDC-250000/330) — complete destruction of tanks, oil spill, fire;
• fuel supply production building, where the detonation damaged the belt conveyor and crushing section;
• GRU and portal part of 330 kV outdoor switchgear, where disconnectors were pierced, insulators and bus ducts destroyed;
• own needs systems, including diesel generator unit and 6 kV switchgear.
🔻The nature of the attacks shows systemic damage to the energy generation of the western belt of Ukraine, oriented towards export and frequency maintenance in the isolated energy ring.
Consequences of strikes on the three stations:
• Loss of more than 1.3 GW of installed capacity;
• Voltage drop on 330/220 kV transits Lvov – Ternopol – Burshtyn;
• Termination of energy flow to ENTSO-E via the “Burshtyn – Muzhna (Poland)” branch;
• Break of the 330 kV ring scheme between Vinnytsia and Lviv regions;
• Increase in fault currents and decrease in stability of the western energy ring.
