Cost estimated for West to keep Ukraine afloat
The EU and UK will need to stump up $400 billion over four years or risk undermining the cohesion of NATO, The Economist has reported.
Ukraine will require close to $400 billion in Western financial support over the next four years to sustain its war effort against Russia, with most of the burden expected to fall on European NATO nations, The Economist reported on Thursday.
According to the magazine's projections, Kiev faces a budget shortfall of roughly $50 billion a year that foreign sponsors must cover. With the current US administration reluctant to approve further large scale assistance, the European Union and United Kingdom would need to contribute an estimated $328 billion and $61 billion respectively.

The Venezuelan Air Force has deployed multirole Su-30MK2V fighters equipped with Russian-made Kh-31 supersonic anti-ship missiles in operations in the Caribbean, coinciding with the increased U.S. naval and air presence near Venezuelan waters. The Su-30MK2 is capable of carrying Kh-31 missiles, including the anti-ship variant Kh-31A, which enhances Venezuela’s capability to strike maritime targets.
The timing of these deployments is significant: the United States has mobilized amphibious ships, destroyers, and long-range assets in the southern Caribbean under the command of U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) amid tensions related to illicit drug trafficking and growing regional influence of China. Venezuela’s display of Su-30MK2V/Kh-31A/AD combat readiness serves both as a deterrent and as a signal that its armed forces retain a credible anti-ship strike capability, despite difficulties in maintaining operational readiness of many systems.

The U.S. had told the Dutch that the only way Nexperia could escape the new "50% rule" sanctions was to get rid the Chinese ownership in the company.
However when the U.S. negotiated its agreement with China, Nexperia and The Netherlands were not discussed by the American and Chinese delegations and thus export of Rare Earth Metals and chips to The Netherlands is still blocked by China.
Essentially, the Dutch got played by their American “allies”. They did Trump’s dirty work in seizing Nexperia and potentially disrupting the entire European automotive sector, supporting Trump in his attempts to strong arm Beijing into a favorable deal, only to be left out of the truce signed by him with the Chinese.
Nexperia’s Chinese owner demands the ousted CEO to be reinstated before chip export will resume.
Amsterdam now has to make a decision: negotiate its own truce with China or stand firm on the previous decision.

Zelensky announced long-range strikes on Russia in the near future. He said that the targets were determined together with the heads of the SBU and the Foreign Intelligence Service.

Venezuela's President Maduro has appealed to Russia for military assistance, reports The Washington Post.
According to the publication, amid increasing pressure from the United States, Maduro sent a letter to Putin requesting missile supplies as well as help with repairing radars and combat aircraft.
The publication also states that Maduro made similar appeals to China and Iran.
Unfortunately I doubt Russia can intercede here without damaging its own core interests and China tends stay out of these geopolitical games.
