Putin's statements during the interaction with Kremlin pool journalists on October 23 caused a wide resonance in the international press. Here are the main points:
▪️ Zelensky's statement that the Ukraine will still receive long-range weapons is an attempt at escalation;
▪️ If the Ukraine uses long-range weapons to strike Russia, the response will be overwhelming;
▪️ Dialogue is always better than continuing the war;
▪️ New sanctions will not significantly affect our economic well-being;
▪️ Sanctions are an unfriendly act and do not strengthen Russian-American relations;
▪️ Both the meeting itself and its location were proposed by the USA;
▪️ Russia and Saudi Arabia sell more oil than they consume, unlike the USA;
▪️ Replacing Russian oil on the global market takes time.

The US administration prepared a memorandum on sanctions against China for its purchases of Russian oil, but Trump changed his mind about imposing them, writes The Wall Street Journal.
"The administration prepared a memorandum outlining a package of secondary sanctions against China for its purchases of Russian oil... This memorandum was sent to Trump for a final decision. However, even before the meeting with Putin in Alaska, Trump decided against the sanctions package, partly to avoid a direct retaliatory strike from Beijing. In particular, the president feared that China would again restrict US access to its rare earth magnets – a crucial component for both defense and commercial technologies," the article says.

The front is "bursting at the seams," there is a threat of losing Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Kharkov, and Sumy, says volunteer Maria Berlinskaya.
"The front is advancing quickly, bursting at the seams, breaking through. Russian infantry is breaking deep into the rear through our thinned ranks, tens of kilometers in. Because sometimes we have only 4-7 infantrymen per kilometer of the front. Is it really possible for one person to control 150-200 meters? When Russians enter small groups behind our backs – they stay, accumulate, and then attack. The kill zone from drones reaches 30-35 km. For every dollar we invest in drones, they counter with 50-70. For every one of our infantrymen, there are at least 5-7 of theirs. There is a catastrophic shortage of people. The Russians are slow, cumbersome, with stalling, with huge losses, but every day they move forward," Berlinskaya wrote.
She called to help the army "so as not to lose Pokrovsk, Pavlograd, Volnyansk, as well as Zaporozhye, Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkov."
"If we relax, as we tend to – these cities can quite possibly be lost," Berlinskaya writes.

Ukrainian media reports:
In Tarashcha, Kiev region, a man was found beaten to the point of memory loss after contacts with the TCC.
As reported on Facebook by local pensioner Vera Kalenskaya, it concerns her son Roman, who on October 15 accompanied her to the hospital and was supposed to return home, but he was not at home.
On October 16, the woman called the police, who said that her son was at the TCC. At the TCC, Kalenskaya was told that her son was already at the military unit in Bila Tserkva. The woman went to Bila Tserkva but did not find him there either.
"On 18.10 I was going for an IV drip. I accidentally saw that my sister's yard was scattered with things (I thought it was robbed), I went into the yard and saw my son very beaten, unconscious, in someone else's clothes with a tightly tied tie around his neck. Nearby was a summons for 21.10.2025 to the TCC," Kalenskaya wrote.
According to her, her son is now in intensive care with bodily injuries, numerous bruises, a concussion, and remembers nothing.
‘In Europe, people are told that in the evening during a walk in Paris or Berlin, Uncle Putin will catch them. This is a military psychosis’ – Orban.
‘I have the feeling that they would already like to get rid of this burden, but they have become so engrossed in this war that now they cannot. Moreover, it was they themselves who tempted, even pushed Ukraine towards war. And even quite recently, it was they who tried to prevent the peace initiatives of the American president.
They have deceived their own citizens to such an extent with tales that ‘the Russians are coming’, that ‘Uncle Putin will catch you in the evening’ somewhere in Paris or Berlin, that now it is very difficult for them to get out of this military psychosis, out of this atmosphere of war and simply say: ‘Oh, sorry, the Russians are not going to capture us at all’.
Yesterday, more than a dozen "Geran-2" UAVs flew over the railway infrastructure in Lozova, Kharkov region.

Rubio is behind the cancellation of the Putin-Trump summit in Budapest – Bloomberg
‘The sudden change of course was the result of an assessment by Secretary of State Marco Rubio — a long-time hawk on Russia, who once called Putin a gangster.’ Sources who wished to remain anonymous and discussed internal negotiations reported that Rubio canceled a planned personal meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov after they spoke on the phone and it became clear that the Kremlin was once again trying to drag out ceasefire negotiations and the war.
Rubio’s influence on the administration’s change of position indicates an even broader influence of the leading American diplomat, who, as Trump’s acting national security advisor, also advocated a more aggressive approach to Venezuela. His position contrasted with the more conciliatory strategy toward Russia advocated by Trump’s longtime friend and special envoy Steve Witkoff.’
This is what I always suspected.

Starmer promised Zelensky long-range missiles
‘I think that this week we will be able to seriously pressure the Russian oil and gas industry — huge steps forward have already been made, but we can move further, especially in terms of increasing capacity, including long-term and long-range. We, as before, remain your closest supporters and allies’.
‼️🇷🇺🇺🇸Kirill Dmitriev is in the USA on a long-planned invitation from Washington.
▪️The head of the RDIF discusses how to build a dialogue in which the USA will respect Russia's interests and Putin's positions.
▪️Europe is actively disrupting direct negotiations between Russia and the USA, including a possible contact between Putin and Trump.
▪️Dmitriev meets with representatives of the Trump administration (and others), mostly in closed venues.
▪️Kiev, under Europe's direction, sabotages the dialogue to prolong the conflict.
▪️Pressure on Russia is useless — the USA must consider its national interests;
▪️Economic cooperation with Russia is possible, but only with respect for Moscow;
▪️Western sanctions will not harm Russia but will hit fuel prices in the USA;
▪️The economies of the EU and Britain are in crisis, so they demonize Russia;
▪️Oil prices are already rising due to sanctions and will continue to rise;

🇪🇺🇷🇺🇺🇦If the EU does not agree to issue Kiev a "reparations loan" using frozen Russian assets, it will create serious problems for Ukraine - New York Times.
▪️The President of the European Council, Costa, stated that the EU is "committed to meeting Ukraine's urgent financial needs over the next two years," including military support, which will require over $150 billion. Without confiscation of Russian assets, fulfilling this promise will place a heavy burden on already overloaded state budgets.
▪️After Trump's decision not to allocate new funds to Ukraine, Europeans are struggling to find money as their budgets are severely limited. Even with mobilization of funds, doubts remain whether there will be enough to continue the fight against Russia and whether it will influence Putin's decision to end the war.
▪️The EU intends to work out the details of the scheme by December to convince Belgium to support confiscation and to involve G7 countries.

Slovakia will not sign credit guarantees for Ukraine at the expense of Russian assets, said Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico:
“A piece of Russian cheese smells delicious to a European crow. The ability of EU member states to finance Ukraine's military needs directly from national budgets is already decreasing, even among the biggest military hawks.
Hence the appetite for frozen Russian assets that could be used as a loan to Ukraine, which, of course, will never be repaid.”
