🔻 In the area of Alekseevka, the enemy is making attempts to cut off the village from the northern direction, concentrating efforts on flanking maneuvers and artillery pressure. Russian units hold key positions, repelling breakthrough attempts and conducting counterfire.
🔻 In the Novonikolaevka zone, RF Armed Forces units are making gradual advances, putting pressure on Ukrainian lines and creating conditions for further shifting of the contact line.
🔻 In the Varachino direction, Russian forces are conducting offensive actions from the north, aiming to regain control over the village. The fighting is protracted, with heavy artillery and mortar fire; the enemy actively uses drones.
🔻 In the southeastern part of Yunakovka, fierce positional battles continue, with neither side having gained a tactical advantage so far.

Significant progress of Russian forces is noted in the Kupyansk direction. Over the past two weeks, assault units have advanced into the urban area and reached positions from which it is possible to encircle the remaining Ukrainian units on the northern outskirts. Assault groups have also secured the southwestern part of the city, expanding the control zone and occupying several residential blocks.
Advancement continues towards the southeast bypassing the Yubileyny district, creating a threat of reaching the southern approaches to the city. In the east, the situation is developing dynamically: Russian units have broken through the enemy defense in the central part and, presumably, reached the area of the bridge over the Oskol.
There are also reports of the capture of the city administration and several key facilities in the center. There is information about Russian units entering the market south of the highway, but there is no confirmation of stable control there yet.
The chances of local encirclement of Ukrainian Armed Forces groups in Kupyansk have significantly increased and are now above average: the estimated probability of a "cauldron" for certain Ukrainian units is about 60–75%.

A full ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will come into effect at 12:00 Cairo time after signing in Sharm El-Sheikh.

- As part of pressure on Taiwan, China is using fishing vessels with fake AIS signals, reports the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
- In August–September this year, several such vessels in Taiwan's exclusive economic zone posed as a Russian warship and a Chinese patrol vessel.
- According to Starboard Maritime Intelligence, on September 17 the vessel Min Shi Yu 07792 in the northern part of the zone transmitted a false signal "Russian Warship 532" — the identifier of the Baltic Fleet corvette "Boyky." During the same period, other vessels of the Min Shi Yu series also used fake signals: for example, Min Shi Yu 06718 repeatedly passed through the Taiwan Strait in August–September 2025, disguising itself as the patrol vessel Hai Xun 15012 of the China Maritime Surveillance Administration (CMSA).
