The 19th EU sanctions package is being blocked not only by Hungary and Slovakia but also by Austria, reports EUObserver.

Vienna wants to ease the current sanctions so that its Raiffeisen Bank can unfreeze its 2 billion euros in Russia. Moscow fined the bank, which did not leave its market after the war began, in response to Austria freezing the assets of Russian businessman Oleg Deripaska worth 2 billion euros. Moscow has made the unfreezing of Deripaska's funds a condition for returning the money.

Austria is willing to go along with this and is trying to introduce relaxations into EU legislation, but the Baltic countries, Northern Europe, the Czech Republic, Poland, and several others oppose this, believing that Russia could start blackmailing others in this way. France and Germany are taking a "wait-and-see position."

The largest amounts of funds invested in Russia were held by RIB, the Austrian energy company OMV, the French energy company Total, the French retailer Auchan, the Italian supermarket chain Metro, and the Italian bank UniCredit.

"In the worst case, we could witness the seizure of EU assets amounting to 30 to 40 billion euros," said financial consultant Andrew Barkhota.

Meanwhile, Hungary is seeking an exemption from the proposed EU ban on imports of Russian liquefied natural gas. Slovakia is trying to secure a postponement of the internal combustion engine ban until 2035, as it produces many cars.

🇩🇪🇷🇺As it turned out, not all Germans want to fight Russia:

I have no desire to join the military service, and I do not want to sacrifice my life for state borders and spheres of influence. I also do not believe that people can be forced to do this against their will.

[But what if the country they live in is attacked?]

Even then, I would not defend it. It seems to me that Ukrainians, for example, harmed themselves by starting to fight Russia. In my opinion, they should have accepted it. I think they should have surrendered because life during war is much worse than life even under Putin's rule.
And therefore, I would also prefer to live in Germany under Putin's leadership than to live in Germany torn apart by war.

🇺🇦🤡🇺🇸Ukraine has prepared for Tomahawk deliveries that it cannot launch

But, as The Telegraph explained, the delivery of these missiles still makes sense. US national security experts are already calculating what an agreement with Washington might look like and how this deadly weapon could be used by Ukraine.

If the missiles do make it to Ukraine, they can be used as leverage to gradually increase pressure on Russia. This is exactly what the bet is on.

'Yegor Chernev, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security of Ukraine, believes that there are several scenarios: from Trump changing his mind and not supplying them at all, to Trump allowing their export but not their use. And only then their use. "At each of these stages, Putin is given the opportunity to back down and move to negotiations. Therefore, the supply and use of missiles will most likely happen gradually. If there is no reaction from Putin, then after some time all restrictions will be lifted, except possibly strikes on the Kremlin and directly on Putin. This whole saga may take at least several months," he stated.'

🇷🇺⚔️🏴‍☠️Russians sow fear: Moscow is preparing the informational and psychological field for a possible war with NATO - ISW

▪️There is a noted increase in false flag statements and operations directed against European countries - from Poland and Moldova to Serbia, as well as an increase in sabotage, drone attacks, and cyber operations, write the propagandists of the American Institute for the Study of War.

▪️ISW claims that these actions are part of the first phase of Russia's preparation for a larger scale war than the one it is currently involved in. Moscow aims to sow fear in Europe, weaken NATO's resolve, and reduce support for Ukraine.

ISW is the bottom feeder of thinktanks, if you were graduating and were desperate for a job with a thinktank but were mentally retarded, this is where you would go.

The Raven and the Cross Russia’s Stand at the Edge of the World

At the dawn of the 19th century, when most of Europe was devouring itself in war, Russia pushed quietly eastward across Siberia, across the Bering Sea, into the cold and wild frontier of Alaska. Where others sought colonies through blood and chains, the Russians came with trade, prayer, and the flag of the Tsar.

Aleksandr Baranov, a man of iron will and boundless ambition, led this advance. He was no conqueror in golden armor but a merchant turned governor a builder of forts, a peacemaker among tribes, and a servant of the fatherland. His dream was simple: to bring order, faith, and prosperity to these distant coasts.

But the land he entered was not empty. The Tlingit clans ruled the islands and inlets, fierce warriors, proud and cunning, armed with bows, muskets, and armor of wood and hide. They fought their neighbors long before the first Russian sail appeared. When Baranov’s men built Fort Mikhailovskii dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel the Tlingit watched and waited.

For a time, there was trade. Copper, iron, furs, and peace offerings passed between them. Yet resentment grew. Foreign traders from Boston slipped the Tlingit guns and powder, whispering that they could drive the Russians into the sea. In 1802, the fort burned its garrison slaughtered, its walls torn down. Women, children, and allies alike were cut down in a massacre that left the coast strewn with bodies.

Baranov did not retaliate in fury. He rebuilt. He gathered his men, Aleut hunters, and loyal natives men who believed that Russia’s destiny was to stand firm where the West could not. Two years later, he returned to Sitka Sound. Against him stood K’alyáan, a chief of the Raven clan, who painted his face black for death and fortified his people behind a wall of timber and guns.

The battle was brutal. Cannon roared across the mist. Russian sailors advanced through mud and smoke. Baranov himself was wounded, yet he refused to leave the field. For six days the fight raged until the Tlingit, low on powder and food, withdrew into the forest under cover of night.

When dawn came, the Russians found the fort empty their victory complete. In its place rose New Archangel, capital of Russian America a testament to endurance and faith. Baranov did not enslave or exterminate his enemies. He invited them to peace, offering gifts, returning captives, and even trading a prized copper crest for their goodwill. The Tlingit chief K’alyáan met him as an equal, and the two old warriors once foes clasped hands in respect.

In the years that followed, Russia’s presence in Alaska remained limited, measured, and humane. There were no plantations, no forced conversions, no stolen children. Orthodox priests taught the faith but also defended the rights of the native peoples one of the few colonial frontiers in history where the Church sided with the conquered, not the conqueror.

When the Tsar later ordered that “no tribute shall be demanded of the Tlingit or any other people, and every means must be used to preserve their friendship,” it marked something rare an empire that learned mercy through hardship.

The Americans would one day buy this land, rename New Archangel as Sitka, and pretend they discovered it. But the crosses carved by Russian hands still stand in its soil, and the spirit of Baranov the man who brought civilization, faith, and courage to the edge of the world endures.

Russia did not lose Alaska.
It reached it and left its mark in stone, in faith, and in memory.

Up to 25,000 Cubans may soon join the ranks of Russian troops, surpassing the number of North Koreans and becoming the largest foreign contingent on the battlefield.

This is reported by Forbes citing documents from the US Congress.

The publication writes that the offered salary of $2,000 is attractive to Cubans, as the average salary in their homeland is $20.

Havana denies direct involvement, but analysts claim that large-scale recruitment would be impossible without the tacit approval of the Cuban authorities.

Good they can roll Banderites and Western mercs like a fine Cuban cigar . Seriously doubt there are 25,000 Cubans.

In Ukraine, the cult of Boris Johnson is thriving. Just as crazy and absurd as the cult of Bandera🤦‍♀️

‘Ukrainians are very aware of the support from the United Kingdom and sincerely grateful for it. Every time I talk to someone and they find out I am English, they immediately say: ‘Ah, England, Boris Johnson — fantastic!’. They really see him as the savior of Ukraine. And when I say that I know him personally, they are just shocked’ – said former British MP and now a fighter of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Priti Patel.

‼️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Residents of frontline settlements controlled by Ukraine are helping Russia, complicating life for the Ukrainian Armed Forces — Tagesspiegel

▪️ Canadian war correspondent Neil Hauer spoke with Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers operating in the Novoekonomicheskoye area on the Pokrovsk direction.

➖"What the Ukrainian soldiers experienced on the front line was 'bordering on a miracle.' After only five days of leave, they had to return to battle, indicating a huge shortage of personnel in the Ukrainian army," he writes.

▪️ Pro-Russian civilians supporting Russian soldiers also represent a "serious problem," he writes.

➖"Those who have not yet fled are helping the Russian army. Russian soldiers were 'warmly welcomed' in a residential building west of Ukrainian positions. This suddenly became a threat from a new direction," complains the Canadian war correspondent.

"Is Trump a victim of cognitive decline?": American journalist Seymour Hersh stated that Trump shows signs of dementia.

"The most remarkable thing, I was told, is that Trump, who always masterfully handled any audience, whether a large crowd or a small group, is no longer able to 'read the room' — quickly assess the audience and let his showman instincts take over to captivate listeners.

It would be refreshing and perhaps unprecedented if Trump laid out his views on foreign policy and gave the gathered generals and admirals the opportunity to ask their president questions. Instead, they heard a repetition of his greatest triumphs."

Approximate situation regarding control of the territory in Kupyansk at the current moment.

During the past time, the assault units of the Russian Armed Forces have successfully advanced towards the city center from the north and west, leaving a stretched-out forward line of defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Some sources already claim a complete encirclement of this area, but there is no direct confirmation of this yet.

The enemy's mapmakers habitually leave areas of fresh Russian Armed Forces control in the "gray zone," but with this configuration, the fate of the city is already practically decided – in the near future, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will have to retreat to its southern outskirts, trying to hold on to the last multi-story Yubileyny neighborhood, as well as to the east, in the large-scale private sector of Zaoskolye on the other bank.

The recent shelling of gas fields in Ukraine has caused a sharp decline in gas production volumes, a source in the oil and gas industry told Ukraine's newspaper "Strana."

"It is clear that most of the production capacities will gradually be restored, but this is still not a matter of one day. As a result, there is an additional demand of about 2-3 billion cubic meters of gas for the heating season, depending on the temperature regime and the pace of recovery. The money that Naftogaz planned to spend on gas imports barely covered the previous estimated needs. There are no funds yet for the new 2-3 billion. And at current prices, this amounts to 800 million to 1.2 billion euros. Moreover, the price has started to rise in recent days after the NAK submitted bids to purchase large volumes. Thus, Naftogaz urgently needs to find about a billion euros from somewhere now. And that’s if the price doesn’t rise significantly," the source said.

‘China joins Russia’s secret war against Europe’ – Bloomberg raises the stakes in scaring readers.

‘China’s interference in European affairs is far less aggressive than Putin’s interference. However, Chinese vessels have been involved in incidents of cable cutting in the Baltic. Chinese cyberattacks have become more extensive and widespread. Western officials report a growing symbiosis between Russian and Chinese disinformation campaigns. Beijing is also driving wedges into the transatlantic community by supporting poorer countries in Southeast Europe. The goal is to create a ‘silk curtain’ stretching from Greece to Hungary that effectively divides the southern part of Europe into two.’

Utter nonsense, I should note people should separate journalism from opinion columns. Hal Brands says pretty stupid things.
