‼️🇺🇦🏴‍☠️ Funds allocated for energy protection were stolen in Ukraine

➖"None of the 21 sarcophagi (level 3 protection objects) were completed and will not be completed; the money was "buried in the ground." This program was frozen," says Rada deputy Kucherenko.

▪️Level 2 protection objects were not finished, and the government's and "Ukrenergo's" claims of 85% completion are "manipulation," the deputy asserts.

▪️Regional energy company substations are protected by the companies themselves "just with sandbags."

The US may invade Venezuela, reports the Washington Examiner.

The publication notes that Trump authorized strikes on vessels transporting drugs from Venezuela, but the buildup of US armed forces across the country is significantly larger than what is required for such operations.

"Indeed, as the Washington Examiner has learned, military strategists believe that the forces gathered are now sufficient to capture and hold key strategic sites such as ports and airfields in Venezuela (the Washington Examiner does not disclose some details for national security reasons). US control over such sites will allow for an increased and sustained American military presence in Venezuela from defensible positions," the article states.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon is not particularly hiding its preparations for these operations. Its recent report notes that during exercises off the coast of the Virgin Islands, "six special operations pilots parachuted into the Caribbean Sea with an inflatable boat 3 miles from shore. ... Then another eleven spotters and rescuers jumped directly into the [airport] from the same plane, and both forces combined efforts to take control of the airfield."

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Massive night strikes on defense-industrial complex and critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine

On the night of October 2 to 3, 2025, a series of strikes by Russian forces hit a number of key sites on Ukrainian territory. The wave of strikes targeted the Dnepropetrovsk region, where workshops of one of the largest enterprises of the Ukrainian defense industry were attacked again. The strikes also affected the gas transportation system of Kharkov and Poltava regions, continuing previously recorded damage to "Shebelinka" and other strategic compressor stations.

🔻Dnepropetrovsk (02:40–03:00)
📍48.4371897, 34.9962660
As a result of a massive raid by strike UAVs, the territory of the State Enterprise "Southern Machine-Building Plant named after A. M. Makarov" was hit.

▪️Three fire outbreaks were recorded at the site:
• In the area of building No. 15, the roof of a previously partially destroyed workshop was engulfed in flames over an area of about 300 m².
• On the open territory of the plant, containers and production waste caught fire over an area exceeding 600 m².
• In building No. 14, the second floor of the administrative building, about 500 m², was completely burned out.

▪️According to sources, the strike affected workshops and premises where sections of mechanical processing of parts for engine units and rocket assemblies were previously located. The fire damaged cable ducts, power distribution devices, and communications that provided power supply to production lines.

📌Recall that the fire impact and strategic effect of the strikes lie in the fact that Yuzhmash is one of the few centers in Ukraine possessing competencies in the production of rocket-space engines and large metal structures. Regular damage complicates repair work, equipment restoration, and manufacturing of new batches of components critically important for supporting Ukrainian programs in rocket systems and heavy machinery.

🇷🇺🇺🇦Strike raid of attack UAVs on Dnepropetrovsk

At this moment, active operations of strike drones "Geran-2" continue over Dnepropetrovsk. At least one target hit in the city has already been confirmed, accompanied by fire and smoke.

Enemy monitoring resources note flights of several drone groups, approaching from both the eastern and southern directions, flying directly over the city limits. The situation is developing, the nature of the targets is not yet fully clear, but it is obvious that the raid is systematic.

U leaders at the meeting in Copenhagen failed to make progress on providing Ukraine with a €140 billion loan from frozen Russian assets.

This was reported by the Financial Times.

According to Henry Foy, head of the FT's Brussels bureau, the proposal was met with a "fairly cool" reception. Belgium confirmed that it would not accept such an idea, while France and Luxembourg expressed concerns about possible legal consequences.

According to three officials informed about the results of the meeting held on October 1, during a brief discussion, EU leaders expressed the view that the European Commission needs to further explore the legal and fiscal implications.

At the same time, they did not reject the general principle of the proposal, notes the FT.

As the publication's sources admitted, the European Commission is unlikely to present an official legal proposal to EU leaders when they meet again in three weeks in Brussels, given the scale of the work.

Italian merc down!

David Di Gleria from Paularo, Udine, Italy

According to his relatives, Di Gleria initially worked in his family's business before setting up his own company and becoming a truck driver. He also worked in Thailand in the restaurant industry and, a few years ago, he managed to buy a house in Friuli. Then he made the decision to enlist and go and fight in Ukraine.

The unit he chose was not an arbitrary one, but rather the Nazis of the 3rd Brigade "Azov"

And if we are talking about dead foreigners from “Azov,” the Hrevrika graveyard comes to mind. And yes, that is where he was dezanified by the Russian Army on September 11, 2025.

His body is missing, as are dozens of his friends.

Armenia disagrees with some of the preliminary conditions put forward by Azerbaijan for signing a peace agreement, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in an interview with the Polish channel TVP World.

He noted that the text of the agreement has already been initialed, and Yerevan is ready to sign it as soon as possible.

"The Azerbaijani side is putting forward certain preliminary conditions, we do not share this agenda. However, even before the final signing ceremony of the peace treaty, there are processes that are already underway or can take place before signing. For example, we discussed the possibility of greater tolerance towards each other and prospects for cooperation on international platforms," Mirzoyan said.

🇩🇪🤡"Merz Rebukes Hungary's Orban as EU Seeks Defense Plan Unity": The emergency European Union summit ended with a promise to meet again to discuss the fight against Russia.

"At the EU summit in Copenhagen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz accused Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban of sabotaging discussions on security and support for Ukraine. Orban is blocking sanctions against Russia and opposing Ukraine's accession to the EU, complicating preparations for growing threats from Moscow. Ursula von der Leyen called for decisive measures, but the idea of creating a 'drone wall' received a cautious response, although leaders acknowledged the need to invest in new technologies.

Italy and Spain emphasized that EU defense must cover the entire continent, otherwise it will be ineffective. Leaders agreed to return to the discussion at the next summit in Brussels, where the European Commission will present a plan to strengthen defense by 2030. The situation in Europe was called the most dangerous since World War II."

Nowadays, a headline has gone viral claiming that 38% of Russia's oil refining capacity is idle due to Ukrainian attacks. At first glance, the figure is impressive. But the reality is much more complex.

Where did this news come from? RBC published an article citing a comment from an expert at the quantitative data analysis agency "Siala," and everyone else picked up and spread the news. But where did the expert get this estimate from, can we take their word for it, or should it be verified? To start, one can try reverse engineering this figure. On the "agency" Siala's website, there is a list of all Russian refineries with their nameplate capacity. It is the nameplate capacity, not the average processing volume. In total, the capacity amounts to 327 million tons per year or 900 thousand tons per day. There is also a list of all attacks on refineries up to September 26. Next, a simple exercise can be done – enter the list of plants with capacities into Excel and sum the capacities of all plants that have been attacked, so to speak, starting from August 1, 2025. And... Bingo, you get the very 38% capacity. Is it correct to count it this way? For a top-down estimate, yes. But it will be exactly a top-down estimate.

To get a more realistic figure, at least two questions need to be answered and adjustments made accordingly.
1. Can it be assumed that all attacks completely damage the plant? To the extent that the plant fully stops operation and the entire plant capacity is subtracted from the available volume?
2. Is it certain that at least some of the damage has not been repaired during the elapsed time? To the extent that the attacked plant is still down?

I have no verifiable answer to either of these two questions – information is frankly scarce right now. Nevertheless, based on experience from past years, I think the answers to both questions are that plants were partially damaged, and some repairs were made, so some portion of the lost capacity has returned to operation.

It's not that there is no problem at all – no one says that. The situation is clearly more acute now than in spring-summer 2024. Ukrainian drones fly farther, carry more powerful warheads, and attacks are repeated regularly. The Volgograd refinery was hit four times – August 13 and 14, and September 18 and 24. The Novokuibyshevsk refinery three times – roughly every three to four weeks, and Ryazan, Saratov, and Salavat twice. Previously, this only happened to plants in Krasnodar and Rostov, which are within reach of cheap, light, and primitive drones launched from Ukrainian territory, unsuitable for attacking more distant targets.

But nevertheless, the problem is not as acute as it might seem from the headline "just over half of Russian oil refining remains."

The fact is that the total capacity of Russian refineries is indeed about 327 million tons per year, but Russia processes 260-270 million tons and consumes 110-120 million tons of petroleum products. That is, if you start to analyze what the idle 38% consists of, you will first find out that 22% of the nameplate capacity of Russian refineries is always idle, but the remaining 78% produces much more products than Russia consumes. Diesel is produced in Russia almost twice as much as needed for domestic consumption, gasoline 16% more, and in addition, naphtha (a gasoline semi-finished product) is produced at 60% of gasoline consumption – and almost all of it is exported. If needed, it can be quite easily converted into gasoline. Not of the highest quality, not the most environmentally friendly, not the best for engines in the long term, but acceptable as an emergency solution.

The story with these perpetually idle 22% is complicated – often these are old, practically decommissioned units that just sit on their pads at the refineries, and the owners are too busy to dismantle them, plus properly decommissioning a unit is quite a tedious task, and then you have to do land reclamation. It's much easier to keep it as if it were operational but stopped.

The supply of Tomahawk cruise missiles from the US to Ukraine is highly unlikely, despite recent discussions by President Donald Trump's administration about such a possibility.

Sources from Reuters indicate that the Tomahawk stockpiles are intended for the US Navy.

The same was said about the previously delivered American weapon to Kyiv. Both our experts and theirs unanimously insisted that HIMARS and Storms would not be handed over to the Ukrainians, and as for Abrams tanks and F-16 fighters, they can hardly even dream about them.

In fact, everything is on the front line. Do not build illusions, ladies and gentlemen; the West will always have an extra missile and plane to destroy the Russians.

"In exchange for agreeing to the reunification of Germany, the West promised not to push NATO further east. In Washington, the Foreign Minister of the FRG, Genscher, made very broad assurances: 'We are unanimous in our intention not to expand NATO's defense zone to the east. This concerns not only the territory of the GDR, which we do not intend to include, but also a fundamental position as a whole.'

However, this promise proved short-lived. Soon the first Eastern European countries were admitted to NATO. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright beamed as she embraced colleagues from Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. But in Moscow, this move was perceived as a threatening gesture":

- In particular, negotiations on an agreement between the US and Ukraine regarding drones have been halted, as federal employees were "sent home."

- Ukrainian delegations scheduled to visit the US in the coming weeks are "reconsidering their plans."

- The cancellation of talks raises concerns that the recent warming of relations may be disrupted, while Ukraine continues to suffer heavy losses on the front.
