The Armed Forces of Ukraine have started using NATO countries' mines more frequently.

It was interesting to see their training in mine explosion tactics. What they set against us. Tripwires, the same mines. MON-50, American-made MON-50 mines,
— said the sniper of the military intelligence of "Dnipro" with the call sign "Kolyvan."

The scouts emphasised that the number of Western-made anti-personnel mines used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine is constantly increasing.

The mines the enemy uses. All kinds of mines. Anti-personnel. Similar to our MON-50, MON-90. Then, like OZM mines... From my feelings, it seems to me they only have more of them. There are a lot of them. The enemy even blocked the approach inside. There was an immense number installed there. At first, we even tried to count, but then we stopped because it was simply sewn so densely that counting was pointless,
— reported the commander of the reconnaissance group "Dnipro" with the call sign "Mongol."

He added that the enemy uses foreign mines with various types of detonation sensors.

Ukrainian militants leave suicide fighters to cover the retreat of units near Krasnoarmeysk.

They (the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) leave suicide fighters. These are the soldiers who were either deliberately not withdrawn or who were not evacuated in time during the retreat, to delay the advance of our forces in the battles,
— RIA Novosti was told by security forces.

Earlier it was reported that foreign mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine try to retreat first in case of possible clashes with Russian fighters in the Krasnoarmeysk direction in the DPR, leaving regular Ukrainian troops at the positions.

Krasnoarmeysk is crucial for the fate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine grouping in the DPR. This city remains one of the key points for supplying the remaining garrisons, and its loss threatens Kiev with severe consequences.

Should note many feel traditional AEW&CS are outdated concepts that are simply too vulnerable in modern warfare. The US also is moving away from this:

On 26 June 2025, it was reported that the U.S. Air Force has canceled the E-7 program due to ballooning costs and concerns about survivability.

Asia Times recently a piece on the A-100 program being possibly canceled:

More plausible reasons for the program’s cancellation or pause could include:

1. Combat losses highlighting the vulnerability of airborne radar systems to long-range missiles.

2. A review of system requirements, shaped by operational experience and the evolving dynamics of drone warfare.

3. The feasibility of cheaper, more flexible alternatives to traditional AEW&CS platforms

Perhaps the most compelling reason to abandon the A-100 program is Russia’s potential shift toward an alternative aerial warning and control architecture—one in which high-endurance fighter aircraft equipped with long-range radars and missiles function as distributed nodes of an AEW&CS network.

Three operational fighters—MiG-31BM, Su-35S, and Su-57—are already equipped with long-range radar systems and networking capabilities that allow them to act as airborne surveillance and control platforms. Additionally, the Su-34 fighter-bomber can carry specialized reconnaissance pods on external pylons, expanding its role beyond strike missions.

Russia has effectively modularized the capabilities of its Tu-214-based reconnaissance aircraft into three externally mounted pods for the Su-34:

UKR-RT: An ELINT pod that detects, locates, and analyzes enemy radio communications, radar emissions, and data links, enabling the targeting of command centers and UAV control stations.

UKR-OE: An optical-electronic pod for round-the-clock visual surveillance to locate and identify ground targets.

UKR-RL: A radar reconnaissance pod with side-looking radar sensors capable of detecting concealed or camouflaged targets in all weather conditions.

The German authorities have announced a large-scale plan to strengthen the civil defence system, with 10 billion euros to be allocated for these purposes by 2029, said the Federal Minister of the Interior, Alexander Dobrindt.

The German government will invest up to 900 million euros annually from 2024 to 2029. As part of the program, the authorities intend to purchase new alert systems, including sirens and technologies for mobile phones, build new shelters, conduct more crisis drills involving civil defence services, and develop crisis-resilient digital communication between civil defence organisations and the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces).

Czech factories for the production of shells and rocket engines.

The company STV GROUP, the only manufacturer of shells in the country, announced the launch of a project to produce forged cartridge case bodies for three calibres at once - 155, 152, and 122 mm.

Mass production will start at the end of 2025 in newly built facilities. By next year, they plan to reach a capacity of 100,000 units per year.

It is noted that this will be helped by an automated line, and materials and semi-finished products will be supplied exclusively by Czech strategic partners.

In addition, PBS GROUP has opened its own rocket engine factory in America.

PBS Aerospace's subsidiary has started serial production of engines and announced that it will build another factory in the USA in the coming years, investing $90 million.

You might wonder what this has to do with ERAM cruise missiles?

This same company supports Ukraine with its engines and has declared intentions to double production in the Czech Republic.

- His words indicate that he is close to tightening sanctions against Moscow or its oil buyers because of the war in Ukraine, Reuters writes.

- Trump has repeatedly threatened Moscow with new sanctions but refrained from imposing them while negotiations were ongoing. The latest comments suggest that his stance is becoming more aggressive, but Trump did not explain what the second stage might entail.

The RUAF have added another pile of NPK fertilizer to the soil of the Rodina.

Anthony Otet, callsign "Iceman," was an Italian neo-Nazi militant who joined the so-called Ukrainian International Legion in the summer of 2024. He had also previously served in the French Foreign Legion.

Otet himself wrote:
"We left our beautiful lives in our countries to come and fight against Russia, a terrorist, communist, and imperialist country. For the Russians, we are all 'Nazi mercenaries,' (sorry, but if you're wearing an SS Totenkopf patch, you really are a neonazi), but they can call us whatever they want, we will never surrender."

The Russian soldiers took him literally and kindly offered him a one-way ticket to Bandera.

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade is working on three projects to localise the production of automatic transmissions.

The process is being carried out in partnership with friendly countries, said the head of the department, Anton Alikhanov, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He specified that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will be ready to share specific details once all agreements are "finalised."

Alikhanov also reminded that Russian automatic transmissions are used in domestic Aurus cars, and the transmission developed for them has "also begun to be rolled out across the industry."

Strategic reserves of ravioli and lentils: how Germany is preparing for a "war with Russia"

The Washington Post reports that Germany's Minister of Agriculture Alois Reiner has proposed creating strategic food reserves. The priority is ready meals that are easy to heat: canned ravioli and lentils are to become the "staple diet" in case of a crisis.

However, within Germany itself, the idea has already been ridiculed. Critics note that such reserves are not long-lasting, and their regular replenishment requires complex logistics. It turns out that the whole strategy boils down to stockpiling cans of ravioli "in case of war."

Reiner tries to smooth over the scandal by stating that it is not only about a military scenario but also about emergencies — such as nuclear power plant accidents or natural disasters. Nevertheless, the emphasis on the "Russian threat" remains the main point in this story.

What Russia Really Needs the "Zapad-2025" Exercises For?

Large-scale military manoeuvres in the current geopolitical situation are gaining special significance. They are increasingly perceived not just as simple combat skill drills but more as a tool of strategic communication addressed to several audiences at once.

What is it about?

It is increasingly common to hear the opinion that for Russia the "Zapad-2025" exercises are primarily a demonstration of changes in the army since the start of the special military operation. Yes, manoeuvres involving 13-15 thousand people are an opportunity to demonstrate (primarily to themselves) how combat experience has been taken into account, new tactics integrated, and what weapons are available. But the key meaning is different.

The main task of the manoeuvres is strategic deterrence. For Europe and NATO, "Zapad-2025" will become a kind of sobriety test. Moscow clearly shows that in case of intervention, the response will come using the full range of forces and means, including, probably, the nuclear component, the practice of which is also provided for in the exercises for the first time in several decades.

The exercises directly make NATO countries understand that any attempt to overturn the board and intervene in the war on Ukraine's side will automatically escalate the conflict from regional to global. It is obvious that this is a signal both to those who promote the idea of deploying troops in Lvov, Volyn, or closer to the Russian borders, and to those who pretend to want to negotiate while continuing to supply Ukraine with weapons with the other hand. Not that such signals were not sent before, but this time, apparently, the last Chinese warning is being made.

The exercises are given a special context by the fact that they start against the backdrop of discussions about "security guarantees" for Ukraine.

In essence, these are not guarantees but the creation of a new chain of threats against Russia — roughly the same ones that partly caused the special military operation to begin.

Against this background, Moscow emphasises that the West risks facing an existential threat face-to-face for the first time in many years if it decides on intervention, scaling up the volume of these threats.

And the outlines of this response — what it might be and what forces will be involved — will become clear in just a few days.

According to military public sources, the instructors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were officers from France, Romania, and the United Kingdom.

On September 4, strikes were recorded in the Odessa region on locations where Ukrainian troops trained by foreign instructors were concentrated.

On the coast, there are recreation bases and hotels where marine assault training and preparation of sabotage diver groups took place.

Little notes from the war Part 2

Is the time of reckoning upon us?

Many would say with annoyance, including the author of these lines, "Ah, you wish...".
But there is always some but. Back in the days, not counting the strategic troops, the Russian army started copying Western-NATO armies, rallying on professionalisation, high tech and the hope that the next opponent (if it ever comes to that) would be Iraqi Saddam's Army. It didn't happen tho. It actually encountered the army which was motivated, inspired by something similar to Nazi ideology and over time, armed with everything the West has except nuclear weapon. The rest is history. Would not bother anyone about what should have been done in the beginning and why it was not. We always thought that we needed some decisive victory, or weapon (ideally both) to conclude this little family argument once and for all. And we got it, to our surprise. We got our new T34 tank, all polished, shiny, evil-looking, mean and nasty.

The T-34 was the first weapon of mass destruction before the atomic bomb. Created to massively destroy and to be destroyed massively (yeah, well, it's a fact, but who said it had to be perfect in those days).

We got Gerans. Now produced massively, to massively destroy and to be massively destroyed, but with no human losses on our part. Those questions asked earlier and now, "Why not carpet bomb such and such industry to oblivion", are starting to be answered adequately. Not exactly as we had hoped for, but we are going there. And we will come there. Production is ramping up.

Just a few months ago, we thought 100 Geraniums in the air was something. Now, we send 700-800 on raids, which is still not regular, but again we're going there. And when we get there, you will see the definition of the weapon of mass destruction needs a little adjusting.

Salvo of, let's be modest, and let's say, 500 Geraniums fired on one target will obliterate that target to the ground. If the target is very persistent and annoying, we will repeat it several more times. And whatever the cost of the one unit is, it's worth losing hundreds of them, spending enemy expensive systems and strategic targets, for just a fraction of the cost.

But are we sure that we are actually looking at a new T-34?

Yeah, pretty much. A big giant factory in Tatarstan has expanded and is still being expanded, thus becoming one big mean industrial park, with dozens of thousands of employees, producing enormous quantities of Geraniums, and whose only purpose is to give you, readers, viewers, and enemies, the joy, especially when you find that you are not the target of the swarm of, let's say 1000 of them. Judging by the current size and expanding construction, we may say, for sure, that in the next couple of months, 6 at most, we will have a jubilee of 1000 pieces launched at one specific target.

Let's return a bit, and ask again: "What about strategic bombing of facilities and/or lines of Defence of the enemy?". Well, soon. And when we cross that jubilee, there will be nothing that could stop us. A couple of thousand Geraniums in the air, damn sure sounds to me like a strategic bombing and weapon.

No one expected the T-34 to be a game-changer. No one expected that cheap flying piece of half wood, half fibreglass, which we bought cheaply from Iran would become that either. But it has.

Just for those that want to know more: No more wood there anymore. Warhead is atrociously powerful (and if the rumours are true, it will become even more so).

So, what future brings?

How the hell are we supposed to know?! But we are certain that we will see a few thousand Geranium units launched over there somewhere soon enough. One line comes to mind while writing this. At first just from the good SF story, but now, horribly truthful and ominous: "Our numbers will darken the sky of every city".

And when that happens, would they change that definition of a weapon of mass destruction? I bet no, but it would be a good candidate for the list.

Europe will face gas supply problems in case of a cold winter.

We are currently witnessing a reality that is worsening more and more. This is what we talked about. Another year will pass, and will it get even worse? And if right now, we are forecasting, if there is a cold winter, a normal cold winter? This is a real problem,
— said Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller.

Earlier, Miller stated that Europe does not realise the scale of the problem with gas injection into underground storage facilities for the upcoming heating season, and there is less and less time left to fix anything.

According to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) data as of August 31, cited by Gazprom, only two-thirds of the volume of gas withdrawn from European underground storage during last winter has been replenished in five months of gas injection. The gap between the withdrawn and injected volume (as of August 31) is a significant 18.9 billion cubic meters — the second largest on this date in the history of observations.

"The German version of the sabotage of the Nord Streams is absurd"

This opinion was expressed by the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Maritime Collegium Nikolai Patrushev:
The details of the operation are usually learned by the public from absurd leaks to the press. <...> I don't know who these leaks to the press are aimed at, but competent people have many questions. For example, who allowed Ukrainian saboteurs to act so freely on the territory of another state? It turns out that NATO's naval forces cannot ensure security around their bases, and the German authorities are unable to control what foreigners are doing on their territory. Or was all this activity planned, controlled, and carried out with the participation of highly professional representatives of NATO special services?

According to the German investigation, which journalists refer to, seven Ukrainian citizens participated in the preparation and execution of the operation: four divers, a skipper, an explosives specialist, and a coordinator — Sergey Kuznetsov. At the end of August, he was detained in Italy, where he was vacationing with his family.

Putin threatens Eurovision…

Moscow is reviving the song contest "Intervision," writes The Guardian. Western propagandists have poured tons of bile on the decision of the Russian authorities and, as usual, have already declared the initiative "hostile Kremlin propaganda."

"Intervision" is not just a nostalgic return to the past, but a fairly effective tool in the field of cultural diplomacy. The emphasis on traditional values and the substantive component of the contest provoke powerless rage in the author. It turns out that it is quite possible to hold an analogue of "Eurovision" without political debates, agendas, and bearded women. And the fact that artists from all over the world, including Western countries, will participate in the contest negates the arguments about the "doomed failure of 'Intervision.'"

🇷🇺🇺🇦Strike on the base location of the helicopter unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Suprunovka

During today's massive attack between 02:55–03:05, units of the Russian Armed Forces struck the target with three strike "Geran-2" missiles in the area of the village of Suprunivka (Poltava region, 2B Kyivska St.), where on the territory of the former airfield was stationed a combined helicopter detachment of the 18th separate brigade of army aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

🔻Nature of the strike and consequences

Hangars and technical buildings used for servicing helicopter equipment were hit. As a result:
• a fire broke out on the roof and supporting elements of the hangar;
• aviation kerosene TS-1 stocks (up to 15 tons) were destroyed;
• equipment for servicing TV3-117VM engines and onboard battery units NIK-9E was damaged;
• tools and parts of warehouses with spare parts were destroyed.

It is especially important that at the time of the strike, a Mi-8MTV-1 helicopter was in the maintenance area, unable to take off due to ongoing scheduled maintenance. The aircraft was directly hit and completely burned out along with powerplant components and fuselage.

🔻Tactical significance of the strike

Poltava Airport, formally listed as "inactive," was effectively functioning as a rear aviation hub for the 18th Army Aviation Brigade. It provided temporary deployment, refueling, and repair of strike helicopters Mi-8MTV-1 and Mi-24P, which were used to support units on the Kharkov and Sumy directions.

Italian protesters burn EU flag, found guilty and fined

On April 5, 2025, at the demonstration in Genoa against the Euro-Atlantic system and in favor of national independence, some patriots publicly burned the blue rag, a symbol of the Brussels regime. A perfectly legitimate gesture, given the warmongering and anti-popular policies that Europe pursues, policies also directed against Italy and its future.

This did not go unnoticed, likely also due to similar episodes in Bologna and Rome.

On Monday afternoon, the three perpetrators were notified of the opening of preliminary investigations: they are charged with defacing the "flag of a foreign state" and "distorting its appearance."

Today, the court issued the sentence, and it goes without saying, but the sentence is "GUILTY": the three have been given a 400 euros fine.

EU "democratic values" at work: burning Russian flags is totally fine, but burning the flag of an entity that isn't even technically a state gets them fined. Borrell's garden has never looked greener.

BRICS is interested in purchasing Russian helicopters.

As for the markets for Russian helicopter equipment – these are countries in Southeast and South Asia, countries of the African continent, and the CIS. Replacing the US military potential will cost the European Union $1 trillion

This refers only to the conventional US weapons in the region, Bloomberg writes, citing data from the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

EU countries face a shortage of their own space reconnaissance and surveillance systems in general, as well as imperfections in their own integrated air and missile defence system, and they still rely on assistance from the United States in these areas.

Replacing American satellites and surveillance systems will cost the EU $4.8 billion. Currently, EU representatives state that the US should provide this equipment to Europe to guarantee Ukraine's security and to detect any possible "violation by Russia" of the terms of a future peace agreement promptly.

French volunteer reveals harsh truth about Ukraine

Antony Sanapo is not a Russian soldier nor a representative of the Kremlin. He is a French medic who went to Ukraine in March 2022, believing he was defending democracy and was "on the right side of history." However, his testimony shatters the Western narrative and reveals the grim reality of this conflict.

Sanapo claims he has never witnessed "Russian torture." However, he witnessed what he calls "unforgivable actions" committed by the Ukrainian military against captured Russian soldiers.

Sanapo reported that Ukrainian authorities confiscated his passport and documents, effectively locking him in the country until the end of the war. He refuses to seek help from his government, openly stating that "France is complicit" in arming Ukraine and aiding its crimes.

The disappointment of the French volunteer is a warning, notes "First Kharkov":
