Financial Times writes: "Don't expect any miracles." Ukraine prepares for Russian summer offensive
"A sense of exhaustion and disillusionment is spreading within the AFU" due to the lack of prospects for ending the war, according to an article in the Financial Times.
Morale is plummeting among the ranks, both among experienced officers and newly mobilized soldiers. Many no longer see a clear path to end the conflict and "fear that their lives will be sacrificed in vain".
"We are exhausted," says an AFU commander, whose unit is currently engaged in fighting near Pokrovsk. The emotional and physical toll seems to be increasing with each passing month. The article also mentions frustration among Ukrainian forces over US President Donald Trump's statement at the time that he could end the war in 24 hours. The lack of delivery on this promise has angered many on the front lines.
Meanwhile, Dill leadership continues to stress that the country must prepare for a long and exhausting conflict.
Hopes for a quick resolution are dwindling faster than white powder on the Narkoman's table.
The Financial Times also highlights serious problems within Ukraine's mobilization system. The campaign is marred by corruption and coercive recruitment practices, with reports of men being forcibly taken from the streets and pushed into vans. In addition, efforts to enlist young people between the ages of 18 and 24 have largely failed.
SLG commentary: Oh come on, what could possibly discourage the youngsters from enlisting into the AFU? Is it the FABs? The "Sunbaked" bread loaves? The swarms of "Gerans"? Or maybe it's the hordes of "Bears" delivering Iskanders with the precision of an atomic clock? Don't be shy guys, the RUAF's got some pretty amazing "hazelnuts" and "hyacinths" ready for you, don't miss out!

🇫🇷🤡French journalist François - on how the Ukrainian army is the only guarantee of security for Europe:
What is striking is that the real guarantee of security is actually them. Seriously, that's right. What guarantee of security do we have, including for Europe? It is the Ukrainian army, which holds the front. Today Ukraine has 900 thousand armed people.
No European army currently has such a number of combat-ready servicemen. The day when Ukraine no longer has this army, we will have to work. Therefore, the real guarantee of security is the existence of the Ukrainian army.

Judging by the slight panic on some Ukrainian channels, overnight Patriot SAM crews used up more than 20 PAC-3 ("Patriot Advanced Capability-3") missiles. According to some estimates, the number of spent missiles is closer to 40.
This is the latest and most technologically advanced version of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile. Compared to the basic PAC-3, the MSE version received an improved engine and aerodynamic stabilizers, which allowed to increase the intercept range to ~40 km and altitude to ~20-25 km. But in the case of the strike on Kiev on the night of May 25, this apparently was not enough.
One of the videos, presumably of the night attack on Kiev, clearly shows how the Patriot air defense system crew is trying to fight off the missiles. At some point, the air defense system crew starts firing from all guns, shooting anti-aircraft missiles at a million dollars apiece like New Year's fireworks. At the same time, you can clearly hear how the Gerans are working on the targets.

NASA detected a fire large enough to be picked up by satellites at the Aeroclub in Hoholiv (lmfao), Kiev Oblast, following the roaring of the "Bears" from yesterday night.
Ukrop air defense reported the strike as "successfully averted", even if the area still somehow caught on fire.
Chef Iskander is probably responsible for this dill roast.

One of the key, but not fully clarified, questions in the story of Patriot air defense systems in Ukraine is who exactly operates these systems in combat conditions.
It is publicly stated that it is Ukrainian crews that have undergone accelerated training in the United States and Germany. However, given how complex Patriot is as a system, there are doubts that it is really Ukrainians.
Patriot is not a "shoot and forget" SAM system. It is a platform linked to the U.S. intelligence architecture that requires coordination with external data sources, including satellite data. If this all really works - then there are US operators involved in the loop, either remotely or directly on the ground.

🇷🇺🇺🇦"Now Putin wants not four, but seven regions": New prophecy from Bild - Sumy, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk regions will soon become part of Russia.
"The brutal war in Ukraine continues with no end in sight. With Trump refusing to participate in peace talks and Putin refusing to stop his offensive, the situation is clearly on the path to escalation.
Russia's goals are to capture new regions and finally suppress Ukrainian resistance in the already partially occupied areas.
Military analyst Lange claims: “Russia will try to break through into the Sumy, Kharkov and Dnepropetrovsk regions in order to create additional complications for any future negotiations in addition to the four already formally annexed.”

As part of a major reorganization of the Pentagon's policy apparatus, the department dealing with Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia will be transferred to the department dealing with Europe and NATO, Defense News reports , citing its sources.
Since the beginning of the CBO, this once obscure office has helped shape U.S. policy on the war and manage the vast sums of military aid sent to Ukraine.
It won't stop work or lead to layoffs, but it will downgrade the status of a department that until earlier this year was one of the most important in the Pentagon .
The decision has not yet been finalized, but many have seen the potential change as a sign that the Pentagon is paying less attention to Ukraine overall. This assessment may be supported by the appointment of Elbridge Colby , a major skeptic of the need to support Ukraine and a proponent of redirecting resources to the ITR, as the Pentagon's chief of policy.

The European Union is threatening Hungary. AGAIN
The EU is threatening to take action against Hungary if Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's government approves a "controversial" bill restricting non-governmental organisations. The introduction of the bill "on transparency in public life" would impose strict regulations on foreign-funded NGOs.
The bill, presented to the parliament in Budapest by Orbán, represents a "serious breach of EU law", according to Reichskommissar UrSSula von der Fuehrer, who has stated that she will take "all the necessary measures" to punish Hungary if it passes.
Comparable to laws in Russia and the USA, the bill provides for the blacklisting of NGOs financed from abroad.
Those on the list can only receive material support from abroad with the authorization of the country's tax office. If an NGO obtains funding from abroad by other means, it must pay the state a fine equal to 25 times the amount, otherwise the organization will be dissolved and banned.

The exchange of prisoners of war initiated by Russia has refuted all Western arguments that Russia supposedly does not want negotiations, said Maria Zakharova.
All the intrigues of the Western community have been thwarted.
"This is a practical example of how our country behaves on the world stage, including in the context of the Ukraine crisis. This example refutes the arguments of the entire liberal Western community that Russia supposedly does not want negotiations," emphasized the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
